What is the UK coming to when you can't rely on M&S to find basics like:

  • A short sleeve collared blouse with buttons (they have 8 but they all have silly sleeves)
  • Short sleeved, long legged, summer cotton PJs (with a collared PJ top, not a T-shirt top)

🙃

I haven’t looked at m and s clothes for a while ( or been in a store) but I did notice that Sainsbury’s have some nice cotton pyjamas but can’t remember which collars they had. Their clothes are not too badly priced.
A lot of tops have silly sleeves I’ve noticed , but I do find it hard to find clothes in my size and that suit me!

Yep puff sleeves have been everywhere 2 summers in a row now. They might suit people with narrow shoulders and skinny arms, but everyone else looks like the Michelin man in them.

I don’t like sleeves that don’t go down to the wrists. I have quite long arms ( not slim though unfortunately) and they look ridiculous on me.
I was looking up cardigans online and they all had these midi arms that look ok on the model but wouldn’t do for me.

CalzoneOnLegs · 16/08/2025 15:56

@truzty @the80sweregreat sorry I didn’t see your post ! Seconded with TU then

Thanks - I had a look but the only collared set with short sleeves and long legs in a size 12 has a lobster print. And I don't mean happy lobsters living in the sea - they are on plates, with lemons and something that looks like olives 😬

Sorry but that made me giggle 🤭 who the hell wants to wear PJs with lobsters on plates??!

Im also looking for cotton PJs preferably just a traditional stripe.

KateMiskin · 16/08/2025 16:35

So sick of puff sleeves and frilly yokes. DD went to H and M recently to find a plain blouse. Nothing!

CalzoneOnLegs · 16/08/2025 16:52

@truzty have you looked online they do click and collect

Yes, I did. But by the time I applied my filters, the lobster-option was the only option left. 😁

@MissyB1 I have nice striped ones from John Lewis - they are mix and match tops and bottoms. Search for Ladder stripe and Kora stripe

Hedgesgalore · 16/08/2025 17:10

Haven't forgiven them for closing my closest store, which was profitable apparently, always busy.

The online troubles they had after was just karma in my book.

CalzoneOnLegs · 16/08/2025 18:10

@truzty the navy polka dot ones look nice or did you want not jersey cotton fabric

Unfortunately they're long sleeved - I want short sleeves and long legs. And, yes, I prefer cool cotton to jersey cotton - jersey is a bit too clingy round the boobs without a bra (same reason I don't like t-shirt style tops). I'd have to cover up whenever we had visitors, and I don't want to make my teenage sons blush. 😁

The last pack of m&s high legs I bought are cut narrower across the bottom and don’t come up quite as high at the top so they tend to roll just under where my tummy sticks out and accentuate the belly roll. They also appear to have stopped doing flexifit cami bras which were the only non-wired ones that fit me and were reasonably priced. My boobs are slightly different sizes and a lot of bras just don’t work.

My sister bought me these for my birthday. 😂

cheezncrackers · 16/08/2025 19:02

They don't sell the kind of nighties I like any more either. They're either ugly large t-shirts with naff teddy bears or something on, spaghetti strap things that mean I get cold shoulders, or they're long, fussy things that would get all tangled round my legs.

They used to sell at least one reasonable style at a time - short-sleeved, v-neck or round-neck, mid-thigh length, slightly fitted - but there's been nothing recently and my old ones are going into holes 😭

KrazyboutKillian · 16/08/2025 19:04

Pricy , but the best pjs are from cyberjammies
plain patterned , different lengths and sleeves
have a look x

Yep. M&S had some lovely Cyberjammies and SeaSalt PJs in their sale, but they are sadly sold out. I saw them a few months back but they were something like £60. I might have to just go for it next time I see a pair I like well enough, as I'll probably wear them for years, but I do resent paying so much for something that should be a staple at every big retailer.

I recently discovered Next The Set.

KrazyboutKillian · 16/08/2025 19:31

@truzty have a look at the cyberjammies site , they do decent sales
I normally wait for a sale

LearnSomeSocialSkills · 16/08/2025 19:34

@cheezncrackers i got a 2 pack, 100% cotton, in Asda last year. It’s worth a look to see if they still do them.

Good shout! I looked just now and they had some I liked in the sale, so I've ordered - naturally, they also had some I liked even better that were out of stock in my size..😁
