What’s the most annoying thing people do in supermarkets?

LIGHTHEARTED. Don’t need any “well you should keep your child on a leash in the supermarket” responses 🤣

When I’m in the supermarket with my 4 yo he usually walks beside me while I push the trolley. Sometimes he does a little run in front of the trolley. I’ve noticed when he does this, sometimes someone further down the aisle will freeze and do this passive aggressive look as if to say, “well which way are you going, make up your mind!” He is nowhere near them and not affecting the direction they’re going in whatsoever! I’m talking 20+ feet away. Sometimes it’s this look of faux panic on their face as if they’ve just seen a bus that‘s about to hit them. He’s not a toddler and is fully aware of where he’s going but it’s like they think he’s going to roll into a ball like sonic the hedgehog, roll down the aisle and smash into their trolley. It’s so annoying!

Anywaaay, got me thinking, what’s the most annoying thing people do in supermarkets?

At Aldi and Lidl you aren't supposed to be packing into bags at the checkout though! That is what the shelving AFTER the checkout is for. You move your trolley of things over there and pack there. Its their business model to keep prices low and the reason they speed scan at 1 million miles an hour.

I have those bags that attach to the trolley specifically designed for your shopping to be put straight into….. they are even Aldi branded because they came from the Aldi middle aisle many MANY years ago!

I did actually used to get a cold drink, drink it on the way round and then put the empty bottle through the till at the end and ask the operator to bin it for me. They never had a problem doing this, they sometimes asked if I wanted it putting in the bin!
(Turns out my excessive thirst was diabetes!)
But I have seen people eating and drinking round the store and leaving the packaging on a random shelf, not so much lately, but I don't agree with that. Pay for what you've had! It's theft if you don't!

I have similar bags and I'm pretty quick as bagging things up at the speed of the cashier. I start off ok, putting things in the correct bags, but often by the end, its a mess at the top because they never fit into the trolley in the same way as whilst I shopping!

I was quoting someone that said they slow down packing- the faster the cashier goes! My point was that if someone is slower at packing and can't keep up with the cashier, then they are supposed to pack at the packing shelf- not fanny about at the checkout holding everyone else up. I didn't make it up- its on their own website!

ALDI FAQs
Why do I have to move away from the till to pack my shopping?
If you've got a basket, you can still pack at the till. But if everyone doing a big shop moves to our packing shelves, you get more room to pack and spend less time in the queue. The snappier system even saves us money - so we're keeping prices down and speeding up your shop!

judging by the people who are totally incapable of waiting a nanosecond while the person in front packs their shopping then pays, surely you love it is people go in pairs, it speeds things up.

MASSIVE EYEROLL at pp who asked if i have pockets. I wear women's clothes. No i bloody don't have useable pockets.

Not with all their kids in tow no. Im more than capable of shopping and packing without my husband and children coming along and vice versa

Why not say something @echt like
‘ Excuse me you’re getting very close and it’s really Wierd and intimidating’

Most men I would hope would move back after being outed as potential perverts

To be fair it;s not an everyday occurrence. I turn and give the offender a hard look.

The people who stand on the opposite side of the aisle, to view the items over the way - you can't walk in front, or use the bit they're blocking.
Also that you'll have an annoying person who zigzags across the aisle or something, but now you'll get that annoyance for 20 aisles as you keep passing each other.

There's nothing wrong with zig zagging across the aisle, I often need something from both sides of the aisle. I'm not going to go up the aisle then come back down just so I don't take the quick route by zig zagging.

It's probably not what you do, but the people who are oblivious to others and go back and forth stopping people in their tracks so you have to stop the trolley hard to avoid hitting them. Not the people who move around others carefully, but the ones who just don't seem to notice that anyone else is there
