It won't of course. It will start a chain reaction around the world and governments will be nibbling at the border of the next country like a lump of cheese.
Much has been said on the news about the February visit to the White House by President Zelensky on Tuesday. It made me think that February was not long, barely a month, yet he demanded payment from Ukraine for the military hardware given in Biden's term, and suggested they pay for them with the rights to mine rare minerals.
I may be wrong, but it struck me yesterday how he managed to do that so fast? I think that Trump spent the time before the run up to his election deep in conversation with his friend Putin. He had about three years to consult with him. He is only in his 8th month, yet already the war in Ukraine has escalated faster than last year.
Did he discuss mineral mining in the Donbas with Putin during those years? Did he discuss Crimea during those years? Did any member of the Republican Party in either Houses ask about Ukraine paying for the weapons Biden was sending? If not, why not? Trump said Biden sent $4billion for defence. It was actually less than half that, but surely as he had finished one term, he would have had supporters in the Senate ask about it?
As soon as Trump was in office, the first thing he said was that he could 'end the war in three days'. Now, bearing in mind that just before the meeting Monday he said much the same, when he said Ukraine could have stopped the war months ago.
It points to the possibility that he already had knowledge of the wealth of Ukraine, that he knew the best quality ores were in Donbas, under Putin control. He also secured a deal for the safety of American shipping in the Black Sea. I still keep going back to that, because during the Biden era, there was the fear of starvation in Africa if Ukraine could not export it's harvest, yet no mention was made of American shipping then.
Instinctively, something stinks.
