Tell me your stories of entitlement

We’re in the US ATM . We flew London to Seattle so a long flight. We paid extra for premium economy seats, and got good seats.

just before take off, our (front) row were approached by a mother with a new baby (looked like only 3-4 months or so) asking for someone to swap because she had a baby. To cut a long story short, she didn’t get it and stormed off in a huff. Turned out she was actually in economy and wanted a premium seat without premium cost and was wanting one of us to pay premium price and sit in economy! Isn’t that the height of entitlement!!! She thought we should bow down to the fact she had a baby!

I love hearing stories of entitlement. Tell me yours.

We have a pub, tourist town, the rudeness of some tourists is beyond. I can guarantee that every Sunday I’m going to have to explain that Sunday lunches are bookable and every Sunday I can guarantee that at least 2 people will shout as we are full. The best one ever was a lady and her husband who tried to bully a regular into giving up their table. I had to intervene when she was shouting loudly, you’re here every week this is my holiday, just bloody move. She was asked to leave and she did. Then came back 3 bloody times to try her luck again.

I used to be a Nail Tech and one of my clients was going on a 4 week cruise. She booked an appointment for the day before she left but then asked what I was going to do about the regrowth on her nails while she was away! I suggested she got her nails done on board or on shore at a stopover but she ‘didn’t like either of those ideas’ and just looked at me for another option. In the end I had to ask her what exactly she expected me to do given that I couldn’t stop her nails growing and I wasn’t going on the cruise! She had no answer but she wasn’t happy 😂

"If you pay for my cruise ticket I'll gladly come with you and do your nails" 😋

@Jasmine222
That's unbelievably rude. Hope you didn't cater for them again 😖

At the gym. I had just got on a machine. Young bloke came up and asked if he could jump on ahead of me. Basically he wanted me to get off so he could get on. I said no. He waited by the machine I was on. I used it for 10 minutes extra than I usually would.
Another time, I got on a machine near a bloke using another machine. He turned round and told me he was using my machine as well. I carried on.
On leg machine, had just got on. Random bloke came up and asked me how long I would be on it for. I gave him a look and told him I usually used it around 10 minutes.

This seems to be a thing with men at gyms.

have posted about this before, but also been approached by a guy who said ‘oh, I’m using that machine’ while being on another one nearby.

Am guessing they want to alternate, but it’s a busy gym!

I wondered if this was normal gym etiquette or just male entitlement?

Nosdacariad · 17/08/2025 19:33

Ex who was telling me he loved me and wanted to get back together was seen on tinder same day.

Asked the next day could I just "pop" two computer monitors and a keyboard in the post to him and was shocked when I gracefully declined.

Yesitisred · 17/08/2025 19:33

Neighbour (10 or so doors down and on the opposite side of the road) stopped me and asked if we would have their kitten as her children were bored with it. Discussed with DH and agreed we'd take him in and give him a lovely home. I went to pick him up any she said, 'I thought about £40 would be ok'. Fortunately, I was on form that day, laughed in her face, and told her how much neutering and vaccinations would cost so if she wanted to make a donation of £40 that would be very kind of her. She doesn't like me any more.
The cat however is a happy little soul.

My story feels a bit lame compared to some of these.

They were rude.

So rude and ungrateful. It was such a thoughtful thing to do and a buffet style idea takes into account any unknown dislikes or allergies. Could not have been kinder.

Shortpoet · 17/08/2025 19:35

I got a sewing machine for my birthday a few years ago and commented at work how much harder it was than I anticipated to learn to sew. I’d spent all the previous weekend on a beginner pattern and made loads of mistakes that I’d had to unpick and redo and still hadn’t finished a very basic top.
A colleague then asked me to design and make her an evening dress! I said even if I wanted to I couldn’t do it. I didn’t have the skill.
She got really pissy with me for a couple of weeks because I wouldn’t do “this one little thing for her”.

Foundress · 17/08/2025 19:37

Mine is pretty insignificant compared to many of the stories on here. It did really annoy me though. We recently went to a lovely country park for a walk. Think acres and acres of grass, trees, adventure playground for children, sports pitches, dog fields all sorts. There is a small cafe at the centre in a lovely courtyard. We get to the courtyard and a bloke is playing football in the courtyard with several older kids. Literally bouncing the football off the walls and ground in there. The noise was horrendous. All the usual outdoor tables were unoccupied and this on a lovely sunny day. All that surrounding space and he’s playing football with his kids in there!

Awww, good for you and he looks very happy with his new situation. What a handsome fella!

Atstritchsitchmitch · 17/08/2025 19:38

My sister would always be invited on our holidays until one year she kicked off royally because "her son was never given a proper bed!" ....for example we would book a large lodge for a week but there might be a bed short. We would invite them for the weekend, and the kids would usually make dens and have sleepovers. She didn't like this, despite never paying a penny towards any of the trips and couldn't afford to go on any holidays of her own. Needless to say, she hasn't ever been invited on one since!

My In-laws are my current source of “entitled” in my life.

They basically walk into mine and my husbands home if the doors unlocked or open - and sit at our table in the kitchen as if they have been invited around and ask for a cup of coffee/tea. We have an enclosed yard with a 6ft gate where our door is and it’s safe for us to leave open while we’re pottering around the garden or house. If the doors closed they knock until we answer then walk straight in.

They show up unannounced and uninvited - at least once a week during our work day - I work from home full time and occasionally my husband is home as well as he’s on modified duty after an injury. They see this as an open invite to drop in.

They send a flurry of text messages / calls in a panic if they come by our house if we’re not home to ask where we are and when we will be home. If we don’t answer - they involved our teenage children in messaging us (we’ve sorted this now). Then they wait on our driveway until we arrive.

We were at the hospital last week for husband for a pre-op. They started up with the calls and texts. I called them after we got home and they did the usual - I bluntly asked what they want and apparently because they were busy packing for a trip they arranged for us to sort something out for another family member because they were busy”couldn’t be rushing around”. We told them no. We got the “you’re joking, how inconsiderate, everything we do for you” bs.

They don’t do anything for us and we don’t ask since it became a reason to intrude and take liberties.

Sorry, mistake....

EmShire · 17/08/2025 19:41

@Foundress Insignificant though it might be, it would annoy me that they decided to play there of all places.

FastMauveQuoter · 17/08/2025 19:41

Went for a walk around a lovely park and visited the ladies loos afterwards. Woman in there was washing her trainers off in the handbasin as she said they were muddy and couldn't understand how this was just wrong.

Cliffedge25 · 17/08/2025 19:41

See I think that every twat with phones on loud speaker having a conversation or with shite music blaring out of their phone or scrolling with volume on, on public transport are self entitled cheeky fuckers. Every single one of them.

It’s a sink and it’s gravy which will go down the sink. People wash their hands with faecal germs on them and that goes down the sink.

People like you wipe using their hands only?

SlightlySeethrough · 17/08/2025 19:42

I do Face and Body Painting. I am trained and do it professionally using the highest grade materials which are bloody expensive. I also carry Insurance and follow strict hygiene rules etc (this is relevant)

I mostly do adult painting - corporate events, weddings and performance/editorial stuff. But I do also do children's face painting at parties and events. Without fail, whenever I do a big event that is children orientated I will get some parent presenting me with a filthy faced child who is 'desperate' to be painted fifteen minutes after my finish time and when I'm midway through packing up. If I say 'sorry, no' there are guaranteed tears and dirty looks.

But the most CF occasion ever was at an event where I was booked till 5pm. It was busy and I judged the end of the line as I always do (I give out a sash saying 'last one to be painted today' to the person I have mentally calculated to be the last one I can fit in) but this woman kept joining the queue with her two kids, behind my 'last one'. I explained that it was already 5:20 and I'd gracefully already gone way over and there was no way I would get to her today, sorry. But she wouldn't have it and sort of planted her feet wider apart as if to say "I'm not moving".

I finished my 'last one' and started to pack up. As I was wiping palettes down she got in my face and said "I don't think so". I politely told her that sorry, I was done for the day and could she please step back. She didn't move so I ignored her and carried on packing up. I had everything packed away and went to empty my water tanks and rinse my sponges and when I got back five minutes later, she had whipped open my case, unfolded my chair, plonked her DC in the chair and her other DC was squashing (ruining) my brushes into the paint, swirling it all around (so mudding it) and 'painting' her sibling.

I was so gobsmacked I didn't say anything for a few seconds and the woman smirked at me and said "told you to paint my DD", when I told her to stop her DD and tell her to put my kit down immediately, she told her littlest one (in the chair) who was TRYING TO GET DOWN to "stay put so that Rhianna can finish the job".

When I came to my senses and literally snatched the brush out of the girl's hand, the woman asked me if I did parties and could I do her a discount as she was on UC.

Perfect for me to pop this in here, thank you OP.
Nice pub lunch out today that accepts dogs. Used Ladies on way out and whist washing hands the woman next to was rinsing out a dog bowl with gravy etc in. She must have felt my icy stare and explained she always shares her lunch with the dog. I gave her an eye-roll ‘lovely’ ….
Reported to management who eye-rolled too and said she’d send housekeeping could have used the outside tap!
Height of entitlement!

I don't see the issue here. No cheeky fuckery and no need for an icy stare, which probably wasn't noticed anyway.

Perfectly normal thing to do.

Babyenroute · 17/08/2025 19:45

Was it obvious they were premium seats @Spidey66? Never flown that class so no idea if they look any different.
personally I wouldn’t have the guts to ask anyone to swap but maybe she was looking for a space which fit the bassinet at the front and didn’t realise the that people had paid more

HideousKinky · 17/08/2025 19:48

At least you got your beautiful cat out of your CF encounter Yesitisred!!
