Kissing a man with a beard

I actually feel quite silly typing this but here goes. Ive met and been on a date with a lovely man who I definitely want to see again. He has a full but well groomed beard which actually does really suit him and I do like it, I love the rugged masculine look. But Im actually feeling quite anxious about kissing him with his beard. will I get a mouth full of hair? will it be in the way? I think im just overthinking things but how to you kiss a man with a full beard! im in my 40s and always had a clean shaven man or just a bit of stubble. I feel like a silly teenager typing this!

Unfortunately lots of creepy crawlies in beards however well maintained they are. Wouldn't want them in my mouth and would advise you to get your duck in a row and move on.

Guessing oral sex is off the menu, then …

Gettingbysomehow · 13/08/2025 14:33

It's fine. My ex husband had a beard I didn't even notice any difference. So long as it doesn't have food in it 😂

For some reason Magnum is the only man who has ever suited a moustache.🥸 🚗

I can’t think of a beard success. Well apart from David Mitchell. He does look better, because the beard hides his weird triple chin / non existent neck.

Edited

Showing your age there remembering magnum. I remember him too! but younger mumsnetters probably think your talking about the ice creams😂.
must admit I have found myself wondering what he looks like under his beard and wondering if he's still attractive.
Aw im gonna have to ask for a pre beard pic now!.

It’s a pet hate of mine, and I couldn’t do it. Probably generational.

I was in your situation a few months ago OP, when I went on a date with a man with a beard for the first time at age 38. I can report that it didn't feel any different. I ended up telling the guy about what I'd been thinking and we had a laugh over it. We are still together and I've come to like the beard.

Glad its not just me then stressing about the new experience of beard snogging!
Glad it worked out for you.

It’s the image of one duck in a row 🤣🦆 brilliant

😂😂 he was in Friends too. I said to my daughter (watching repeats recently), he looks the same as he did in Magnum. She had no idea what I was talking about. To her he’s just Monica’s dodgy old boyfriend 😂

I didn't like when DHs moustache was over his top lip, so he kept it trimmed but otherwise I liked when he was clean shaven (so soft!) or when he had "designer stubble" or a full beard. 😍
The few days transitioning from clean shaven to "soft stubble" where by far and away the worst! As someone upthread said - like sandpaper. 🤮

I've now got a 1970's copy of The Joy of Sex manual in my head, and it won't budge!

This thread has me torn.

Partly I'm glad men are being held to stupid beauty standards and called unhygienic for having the nature given body hair they were designed to have.

And partly because I'm horrified that adult women can be so completely pathetic about human body hair.

And lastly, because I fucking love a beard. I would not have sex or kiss someone who was gross and had a beard full of bolognese though so maybe posters need better standards of men.

I'm very sad dh stopped growing his when he went grey 😞 It feels amazing everywhere.

I once went out casually
with a bearded man and I have to say that, 30 years on, I still remember when he came up after oral sex and kissed me with a wet and dripping beard 😬 It wasn’t my finest sexual experience and it colours my beard attitude to this day.

🤢 can't stand them. Grim. Give you a sore face when kissed and don't even get me started on oral sex 😬

Omg 😲 I'd not even thought that far ahead. I think you've just put me off the beard experience!

I have to avoid men with facial hair because it really irritates my super sensitive skin . I end up with a bad rash and looking sunburnt .

Same, I literally can't date men with beards because of this... which is a real shame, because I'm super attracted to a neat bit of facial hair! (Particularly when matched with dark eyes..)

It sounds like a job well done to me! 🏅

Beard fine, I hate stubble though. I don't like the prickly stage

Even more reason to get your duck in a row. The worst possible nostalgic northern supper: bread and wet and dripping beard. Kinda lingers.

Summerlovin24 · 13/08/2025 18:49

My 1st relationship post divorce was with a bearded man. I was worried but it was great, no problems. He did use beard oil which made it less prickly.
Go for it!
