Kissing a man with a beard

I actually feel quite silly typing this but here goes. Ive met and been on a date with a lovely man who I definitely want to see again. He has a full but well groomed beard which actually does really suit him and I do like it, I love the rugged masculine look. But Im actually feeling quite anxious about kissing him with his beard. will I get a mouth full of hair? will it be in the way? I think im just overthinking things but how to you kiss a man with a full beard! im in my 40s and always had a clean shaven man or just a bit of stubble. I feel like a silly teenager typing this!

DP has a full beard, well maintained and clean - he is a fab kisser. Not an issue for us. I'd be very disappointed if the beard went. 🧔🏻‍♂️

DH shampoos and conditions his beard every day. He is very kissable.

Lord above

Just snog him

My partner has a full beard and I don't think I've ever even noticed it kissing him. I'm going to concentrate next time to see if I can feel it 🤣

I agree. Id be devastated if mine got rid of his!

I love a hairy face. I actually find a smooth just-shaved face really unpleasant to have against my skin Blush I wouldn’t say anything obv but I’d be gutted if DH decided to be clean shaven every day. Luckily I don’t think that’ll ever happen! He just varies from neatly trimmed stubble to beardy depending on how lazy he’s feeling about dealing with it.

Enjoy!

Absentmindedsmile · 13/08/2025 13:29

Beards are gross and unhygienic.. can’t kiss that. Imagine a bit of bolognese dribble 🤢.
I do like a man to have a bit of stubble though.

Thanks for all the replies, some have made me laugh especially the one about the creepy crawlies.
Think I am just massively overthinking it, think im worried it'll gross me out even though I do like the look of his manly beard. we're going out for a Chinese this coming weekend, il keep hold of a pair of chop sticks for picking out any random bean sprouts and creepy crawlies from beard. 😂

Yuck.

Nushi21 · 13/08/2025 13:38

My husband had clean shaven and now full beard. No issues at all. Unless he’s like a hairy biker Mr Twit (Roald Dahl character) style crazy with food sticking out - then I don’t see an issue.
But if you don’t like it then you don’t have to commit yourself. It your personal preference at the end of the day.

Top marks if you can perform creepy crawly extraction from a beard, with chop sticks 🥇

Yuck.

How is it "yuck"! You do know men naturally have hairy faces!?

starfishmummy · 13/08/2025 13:47

DH has always gone between a moustache only, clean shaven and a beard. Wfh and then retiring mean it's usually unkempt apart from a short while after hes decided to hack trim it. Its.fine.

RattyMcBatty · 13/08/2025 13:49

Personally I love a beard. Dh has one and it's not a problem. I don't like it when he shaves it off -feel like I'm kissing a child.

GiveItAGoMalcom · 13/08/2025 13:51

I wish it didn’t but kissing a man who has a beard, physically turns my stomach.

I don't know op - but look, there is only really one way to find out... Go and find out and report back 😆

Absentmindedsmile · 13/08/2025 13:55

For some reason Magnum is the only man who has ever suited a moustache.🥸 🚗

I can’t think of a beard success. Well apart from David Mitchell. He does look better, because the beard hides his weird triple chin / non existent neck.

FruitFlyPie · 13/08/2025 14:13

I was in your situation a few months ago OP, when I went on a date with a man with a beard for the first time at age 38. I can report that it didn't feel any different. I ended up telling the guy about what I'd been thinking and we had a laugh over it. We are still together and I've come to like the beard.

Without his beard my very handsome DH looks way too much like his mum!

BauhausOfEliott · 13/08/2025 14:25

Oh, I love a snog with a bearded man. I'd hate it if my DP started shaving!

MrsSkylerWhite · 13/08/2025 14:27

Haven’t known my husband without a beard. 36 years on, never been a problem.

Rallentanda · 13/08/2025 14:27

JifNtGif · 13/08/2025 12:25

Unfortunately lots of creepy crawlies in beards however well maintained they are. Wouldn't want them in my mouth and would advise you to get your duck in a row and move on.

This response is pure Mumsnet 🤣 love it

Rallentanda · 13/08/2025 14:28

Dh has had a beard for years, we kiss a lot, I’ve never felt that it gets in the way. I’ve never thought about it, actually!
