so he’s done a vow renewal after only getting wed in 2022 and none of his siblings or parents were there, just seems to have been organised by his billionaire wife’s parents. It looks like a very deliberate fuck you to his family. What can they have done to deserve such shocking treatment? It’s bizarre. And let’s hope the marriage to the (reportedly prickly, hard work) billionaire works, so he doesn’t have to come crawling back to Mum and Dad………

The guardian article sums it up. The Beckham's have thrown their children into the limelight throughout their lives so it's little wonder that a fall out will play out in public as well.

It can't be easy growing up with successful parents, particularly David as he has a talent. I don't think V and D have done their children any favours by parading them around in public since they were babies in a way most celebs don't. They definitely didn't help B by setting him up to look like a spoilt brat with his photography book and cooking show. He became a laughing stock thanks to them. They really should have made him develop a craft the long way until he had an actual skill, but instead they used their money and fame to try and leap frog hard work and it back fired.

The problem is that it's the bits of their private life that they have shared that are creating problems for them now.

Because they promote themselves through shared social media posts and birthday wishes and likes, they haven't given their children an opportunity to just bow out - and now they are getting a very public slap in the face from one of their children through the pages of Vogue?

Honestly affairs seem mundane in comparison.

Is his estrangement about exactly this? The Peltzs £ can offer both anonymity & opportunity. A bit like Jackie K getting with Onassis.

I think it's more like Harry and Meghan.

I think the problem with having a dysfunctional family (which I think the beckhams are) is that once you bring someone else in who you have chosen and who has chosen you (for whatever reason!!) and they point out the crazy stuff it can open your eyes

I'm sure he will come back to a relationship with his parents but I think he will need to feel respected as an adult by them and I think that’s quite hard atm

also, it sounds like he’s had a proper falling out with his brothers and perhaps the age gap etc and the fact he was the first fed to the lions den (so they’ve been a bit more protected) has meant they’re not as close as previously portrayed

Yes, you’re right. Somehow also as N’s career is key Brooklyn can quietly do as he chooses if he doesn’t rock boat & have more freedom. What are N’s ultimate career ambitions? Still actress?

I also think being in a family where everything is about appearances - not just face, body, clothes, but activities done just for show and exposure - must be ghastly. BB’s photo book, CB’s Christmas single were nothing to do with skill, they were just pushed out there for the brand. Same with RB’s modelling, though to be fair he is the only one who seems to have shown some aptitude, with the football, but even that seems to have been abandoned now.

the thing is the children are all very ordinary looking, pleasant enough but nothing special. And when it comes to skills and achievements they overall seem lower than average, especially considering they’ve had tons of money thrown at schooling. DB and VB could (and should) have just kept them out of the public arena. I think it must be horrendous for a child to be brought up in the glare of the media.

They do all look like nice kids, they probably crave an ordinary life, not always on their parents social media pages as props. They must know everything they do will be scrutinised due to the over exposure they have always had. I don't think Brooklyn will be the only one turning his back in years to come.
I think VB is hedging her bets on her daughter being the new media star. Maybe she is hoping to re write history with her. The poor girl. She is very ordinary looking and seems to have her dad's sisters genes. She will be pushed in front of the camera with her super slim mum clicking away. What an awful life of pressure she will have.

The kids, even when adult, appear to be happy with the endless group pics of the family all dressed up to the nines. You don't see one missing unless there's a reason. I would've thought one of them would say 'nah, not doing it, don't want a pic'

Tbf the Beckhams have been around so long that it’s easy to think they are ever present. If you look at either or their social media they’re not constantly posting their children, particularly compared to regular influencers. They don’t even post at a high frequency.

Most of their childhood social media wasn’t a thing and they didn’t really play a part the Beckhams previous reality publicity drives (the amazing real Beckhams documentary in Madrid and the welcome to America ones)

the media they do post is rarely personal or private moments or insights into the kids lives- holidays, birthdays etc.

I do worry for Harper, she’s a normal looking girl for her age, pretty ordinary and I mean that in the nicest way. I just hope she doesn’t feel pressured to change her face / shape to confirm to her mother’s ideals.

Well it's not exactly her mother's ideals, more her mother's disordered eating.

I think she’s perfectly attractive but the influencing angle means if you are trading at all on that it needs to be extraordinary beauty. Posh has always been attractive too but the ‘work’ puts her for many in the extraordinary category which helps re: selling products. Eg. Princess being ‘launched’ currently

I don’t think she needs to. The kardashians are women in their 30s and 40s. They’re not relevant to a teenage girl now. In many ways the world is a kinder more inclusive place. Harper isn’t subjected to the same pressure posh was

I’m not sure that’s true. My dd is a similar age and it’s pretty brutal out there!!

But at what emotional cost to herself and her DCs? If she had posted on MN relationships - she would have been told once a cheater always a cheater. And we would have been right. RL wasn’t the first and isn’t the last.

It must be crushing for VB to tolerate that on a personal level behind closed doors. All I took from DBs NF doc was VBs fragility and pain - it oozes out of her - despite her thinking she is covering it all up with her ‘perfect family’ Insta performance.

I also think she believed she was the most successful of all the Spice Girls post breakup as she is the only one with a ‘stable’ long term partner, loads of kids and her own business. But it’s all a facade. I feel sorry for her for trying too hard. The rupture with BB will be seismic for her as it exposes her vulnerability.

She hasn’t necessarily read the book though. They may have covered it at school. The name isn’t even from a character in the book but from its author Harper Lee, which is a very cool name. I can imagine that was all that stayed in VB’s head about that book.

Looking at the amount of obvious plastic surgery in the Pelz family, and their willingness to share their lives with the public, I don't think BB has joined a family that doesn't care about appearances.

It's one of my all time favourites so always aggrieves me a little when people claim to have read and loved it but have most probably done neither and only heard of it because it's so well known (and yes I'm looking at you, former colleague who claimed to love it but "forgot" the main characters name and the entire plot 🙄).

The one thing I do find childishly amusing about Harper's name is that they gave her Seven as a middle name. Thus it makes her sound like Half Past Seven Beckham.

Talking of harper I remeber what I thought was odd about the 50th pics ...all those matching satin dresses.

Yes on the one hand lovely to get a slinky dress to wear but also makes the females look identical? Taking away their autonomy and I bet np isn't untested in that ?
