so he’s done a vow renewal after only getting wed in 2022 and none of his siblings or parents were there, just seems to have been organised by his billionaire wife’s parents. It looks like a very deliberate fuck you to his family. What can they have done to deserve such shocking treatment? It’s bizarre. And let’s hope the marriage to the (reportedly prickly, hard work) billionaire works, so he doesn’t have to come crawling back to Mum and Dad………

I remember years ago there was a thread on here (started by me) discussing the rumour that the beckham kids were going to go to Habs. Lots of posts (not inc me) saying they’d never pass the entrance exam which seemed a little harsh. VB got wind of it and spoke about it in an interview, wasn’t happy. Don’t blame her. They could have been very academic for all anyone knew.

I do think it’s telling that not only are they still close with their other kids but haven’t one or both of the other boys unfollowed Brookyn on social media. Which suggests they think the whole situation is his fault. Sad the siblings now have a rift too.

My ds was at the same school and in the same year as Brooklyn. I can't remember if the other boys were there. It wasn't any of those mentioned upthread. He was pretty un-academic....

I worked in kitchens when I was young and under a head chef who had trained with Gordon Ramsey, he was the same very positive about him and the support he gave even after he went his own way. Not sure if it says anything but that head chef was direct, fair, very high expectations but if the shit hit the fan for you personally etc he was absolutely lovely and very understanding. I got a call to say my gran was being rushed to hospital he overheard and immediately told me to go even though it was right before a busy service.
I think to be a successful chef and I don't really mean a TV one you have to work very hard and be very resilient ( not for me long term just paid for my studies), I can't imagine GR didn't have the same expectations of his children. It's not the same personality I think you see in VB, David I've heard was very hard working in his field even even he was successful, but that was more about harnessing raw talent, if your kids don't have it.....

Brooklyn should have been given a very firm hand by someone other than his parents to steer him and stop him from making poor decisions like his photography book, someone neutral to say "what were you thinking?" And to educate him a bit in a way that his parents are incapable of doing - and I like Posh and Becks, for what it's worth. They just needed to be aware of their own limitations as parents.

The marriage is a joke, Nicola is awful and his devotion to her is embarrassing. She comes across terribly.

Fully agree that he is like an overgrown teenager. Not sure what should be next for him. The parallels between him and Prince Harry are quite striking.

I meant that his “brand” is for him to be obnoxious. I am not keen on Gordon’s latter day public “brand” - but one of the best meals I ever ate was at his Royal Hospital Road establishment about 25 years ago, before he was a household name and when he still really only had two restaurants. Sublime. I can still remember the taste of one of the dishes.
And yes, he really does seem to inspire respect and loyalty in those who trained with him.

I do feel a bit sorry for them. It was not his or her fault that they were born into millions/billions and into a major spotlight. At least they may be able to relate to eachother on that score.

Imagine starting out at something and having millions of people take the piss. If your dad’s mate helps you onto an electrical apprenticeship or whatever, nobody shouts nepotism or says oh aren’t you shit at electrics (yes because you just started). Gordon Ramsay is literally his dad’s mate and helped him with cheffing.

That said, a lavish vow renewal ceremony after 2/3 years does seem odd. It makes me wonder whether they have nothing to do/are bored, or overly hung up about things that weren’t perfect on the original wedding day (which you just really have to forget about).

Sad that he’s fallen out with his parents. Whatever faults they have, they ultimately love him very much - that is evident from the photos over the years.

I don't dislike the Beckhams but I'm surprised that they didn't foster more of an education/work ethic in their kids. DB was an incredibly talented footballer but noone plays at that level without a lot of effort and training behind the scenes. I also can't believe he thought there was a realistic chance any of his kids would "inherit" his ability, he must know it doesn't work like that (if there are any great footballing dynasties, I stand corrected)

The Ramsays do seem to have done much, much better.

Jack and Bobby Charlton, Rio and Les Ferdinand. Brothers but obviously both brothers were talented.

I'm sure Peter Schmeichel's son plays football too.

ETA Anton Ferdinand is Rio's brother, Les is their cousin, their other cousin also plays.

I feel sorry for him. I don't particularly like Jamie Oliver, but isn't one of his daughters a nurse? The Beckhams should have brought their children up in the same way - to have a career and a job and not to be reliant on their parents' (or in-laws') money.

After reading this book and viewing the photography included ,as a professional photographer with 20 years experience I have been inspired by Brooklyn to become a brain surgeon. He has shown me that i require no talent, aptitude, training and most importantly skill in order to master any vocation I choose , my only concern is that my parents aren't very rich so i might struggle to get any notoriety in my chosen new profession, but I look forward to publishing my first book "Pre-frontal Lobotomies for Dummies" I will dedicate it to Brooklyn.

I think Nicola is getting a bad rap. All the photos and videos I’ve seen of her show her to be genuinely smiling and laughing. And yet Victoria is famous for never smiling or laughing and eating steamed fish and vegetables every single day for about 30 years.

I think it’s really creepy how that 30 year old girlfriend of 20 year old Cruz is parading around half naked on their yacht. Like watching your young kid taking on a bizarre responsibility.

It seems strange no baby to cement after 3 years, although of course infertility unfort could be an issue. D&V had Brooklyn pre marriage.

V strikes me as someone who would tutor the kids etc & have academic ambitions for them. I know someone at school with one of them & they were below average academically so silk purse & sow’s ear springs to mind. Not everyone is academic so encourage another route.
