Revenge is best served cold

Yes! I got my revenge. MIL ignored something which was very important for me and Dh. I didn’t show my annoyance then but hoped to somehow pay back. The situation came two months later and I didn’t need to do anything. I am the only person who could have prevented it happening but I did nothing. She must feel same as I did.

Did you feed her death cap mushrooms in a beef Wellington?

Was going to post this but you beat me to it!

Most pointless thread I have read on here in some time.

Yes, out of a fine list of contenders.

This happens continously on MN. Is it something to do with people's particular mobiles or the website as it seems more often than not that posters haven't read the thread or maybe they're not actually seeing the thread? It's very frustrating.

Roseblooms7 · 05/08/2025 20:51

Yet another utterly pointless boring thread on MN tonight.

What she did is unforgivable

You said she ignored something that was important to you and your DH. I've no idea what that might be, but I'm struggling to believe it's unforgivable. Does your husband think what she did was unforgivable?

As for the rest of it, you are making absolutely no sense and none of us have a clue what you are on about.

Tutorpuzzle · 05/08/2025 13:41

What are you hoping to achieve from this thread, other than strangers thinking what a weirdo?

Just that I think. How sad.

And we've got another month of this before they go back to school.

What was the point posting?

How bad can ignoring something important to you be? Did she not congratulate you on your prize marrow at the local vegetable show? Did she not fawn over your new hand towels? Did she not fuss over your dog?

Edited

Prize marrow just made me laugh and startle my dog 😂

Toseland · 05/08/2025 21:02

I found out last weekend, after 40 years, that my school bully had eventually picked on the wrong person and been punched and knocked out!

PInkyStarfish · 05/08/2025 21:11

You claim she ignored something important for you and your husband.

Have you not realised that things that are important to you are of little significance for others?

Or if its deeply personal such as the date of the loss of a baby or child, that they are also upset and are worried about upsetting you so say nothing?

To then exact revenge and revel in it shows that you are immature and rather nasty.

Perhaps the thing she ignored is down to you having previous form doe being nasty?

Does she even know she missed something? Or has your conscience given you a nip? Revenge is an empty practice, solves nothing. Creates nothing and limits everything.

I’m a strong believer in what you send out comes back to you so watch yourself with all that glee at your MILs misfortune!

You must have a nasty streak to be so gleeful at someone’s misfortune OP, don’t forget ‘what goes around comes around’.
What a nasty DIL you are.

steff13 · 05/08/2025 21:15

When you post like this on Facebook it's called "vaguebooking." What are we going to call it for MN?

Spindrifts · 05/08/2025 17:54

Ever heard of someone getting the come uppance. i.e. pompous person puts you down, then someone else puts them down in your presence. Nothing more satisfying. You did not have to do anything.

That would just be weird and awkward for me.

Oh come on now, it wasn’t that bad!

SilverpetalShine · 05/08/2025 21:31

I'd take no pleasure in that...

PringlesTube · 05/08/2025 21:31

It’s no wonder people don’t update their threads. This place is full of nasty boring bitches.

That sums my married life.

BlueandPinkSwan · 05/08/2025 15:22

Why the fuck are you posting then? Why are the rest of us reading such a stupid pointless thread? MN seems to bring all the idiots out on here.

It is even worse that petty. OP wants MIL to know but with plausible deniability. The only reason she would post it here, knowing SIL was on MN, was in the hope that SIL would see and might tell MIL that OP did whatever she did for revenge. She did not do it for general MNers who can make nothing of it.

Now I feel dirty and am going for a shower. Yuck.

BubblyBath178 · 05/08/2025 21:51

What a pointless thread 🙄

Daygloboo · 05/08/2025 21:54

Kubricklayer · 05/08/2025 15:49

Shall we play a game of speculation? I'll go first.

MIL took OP and DH to McDonalds and they both asked for a toy with their happy meal, but MIL got them both the book option instead. The toy options were squishmallows which OP and DH collect and so it's very important to them.

2 months later MIL took them both back to McDonalds and ordered from the counter. MIL a quarterpounder with cheese 'plain' and the OP and DH again had happy meals.

However, the employee made MIL burger with everything on. OP was the only one who could stop it as she noticed the burger box sticker was absent of the 'make it plain' label.

So when MIL took a bite down on the burger and was hit with the mustardy, ketchupy, pickly flavour mixed in with the cheesy beefyness she winced n horror., and OP's revenge was complete.

Also the burger had sat there a while so was also cold hence the thread title.

😂 probably about the size of it

I’m guessing that your MIL ignored, or forgot, your Wedding Anniversary …. which is totally unforgivable. Her terminal dementia is no excuse. Two months later it was her 100th - and probably last - birthday, and you deliberately didn’t send her a card.

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 05/08/2025 22:09

That’s interesting dear.

Cattenberg · 05/08/2025 22:15

Yep, I was thinking of MIL not liking OP's wedding anniversary post on Facebook, so OP "forgot" to post MIL's birthday card.

But OP does say that MIL doesn't know OP was part of what happened, but probably suspects. So now I'm thinking along of the lines of MIL's pets being allowed to escape, or OP noticing that MIL left the gas on before going on holiday, but doing nothing, so MIL came back to a smoking ruin.

ReceiveMyPurpleParsnip · 05/08/2025 22:20

What kind of response did you want from this?

Would “can’t trust nobody no more. Sent u a DM hun” be the sort of thing you were looking for?
