Warm, mild and sunny here in Kent today
versus
Torrential rain and storm warnings up north

We just having a day in the garden and then going to meet friend for picnic in her garden.

What the heck are you doing if house of children and storms ongoing. In summer fgs! My sympathies!

NW England coast atm. Odd afternoon. Brilliant sunshine atm but howling winds. Though tbh can probably remember less than a dozen days without wind in the past 15 years 😁

CrotchetyQuaver · 04/08/2025 13:38

SW Hampshire
quite windy, blowing straight off Christchurch Bay. Occasional showers and quite grey. I'm in jeans, a polo shirt and fleece, I'm not too hot. But whilst it's not a very nice day weather wise, it's not awful.

MrsAvocet · 04/08/2025 13:42

Sunny and quite warm but pretty breezy here in Cumbria currently. I'm just about to go out for a walk as it's too windy for cycling. But we get lots of strong winds here and it's not dramatically worse than a "normal" windy day. It certainly not a stay indoors kind of day.

Too chilly for shorts in Tunbridge Wells. Jeans and hoodie weather, lights on in the house- depressing.

Octavia64 · 04/08/2025 13:51

East Anglia - rain and very windy. Have brought the garden stuff in, and huddling in the house.

Tarkan · 04/08/2025 13:56

The wind has really picked up here now. Having to keep a good eye on our elderly Shih Tzu in the front garden every time he needs a pee. Not sure if our food recycling was collected or even if the bin for it is still there now.

Tarkan · 04/08/2025 14:02

RIP our food bin. DD went to check and went right up the road. It’s gone. TV is cutting out now. Joys.

RampantIvy · 04/08/2025 14:02

The rain has stopped but it is still very windy here in South Yorkshire. My tomato plants have fallen over.

celandiney · 04/08/2025 14:04

It's not warm, mild and sunny in my bit of Kent now!
Grey, windy, may or may not be raining...I am still in my shorts though.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/08/2025 14:08

i like the maps on the met office app, bands of rain and/or clouds swirling. The rainfall layer has a ‘last 6 hours’ option if you want to check wtf just happenedGrin

Westfacing · 04/08/2025 14:08

What's the situation with storm Loris?

I know it's not supposed to hit the south of the UK but the wind has been quite gusty this afternoon in London.

Thisismyalterego · 04/08/2025 14:11

On holiday in Scotland, a short drive from Inverness. We have watched the trees being blown around and a few branches being blown off ( thank goodness we moved the car away from the trees, or we'd have no windscreen by now). The garden furniture has been travelling around the garden as if it was a garden sightseer on its own holiday. DIL and dgc have been watching from their bedroom window and have seen a multitude of bins blow around as well as a garden trampoline take off from the garden next door and land goodness knows where. All the while, the rain is torrential and the wind is whistling around this beautiful old, but thankfully solid, old house like in a horror movie. Luckily there are enough adults here to keep the children occupied and stop them being frightened. Hoping that tomorrow will be better and we can all get out to our planned activities.

MsPug · 04/08/2025 14:13

Grey, mild and drizzly here in north Kent. Winds picked up as well

TaborlinTheGreat · 04/08/2025 14:14

I was supposed to be getting the train from down south back home to Cumbria this afternoon and all the bloody trains are cancelled! I have to stay here for another night. Angry

TheChosenTwo · 04/08/2025 14:15

Miserable rainy and windy here in Hampshire.
grey skies and dark clouds. Happy summer holidays kids! You’ve been stuck in torturous hot sweaty classrooms for months looking at the glorious sunshine outside but the day you break up don’t worry, it’ll piss it down for your entire break. And rinse and repeat every goddam year!!

SleepingisanArt · 04/08/2025 14:17

Also south Hampshire (5 miles to the sea from here) - we've had drizzle and proper rain then more drizzle. Gusts of wind though nothing too bad. It's about 20 degrees. It feels like the weather we used to get when we lived in East Kilbride but a few degrees warmer 😂

I’m in Kent. It’s overcast, cold & windy.

im wearing jeans & a jumper.

I’m in London. It’s freezing, windy and is threatening to chuck it down

Which part of London is that? I am in London, and finding it horribly hot and clammy, as well as windy and wet. Too hot for a rain coat - I went out in the rain in shorts and tee shirt because it was too hot for anything else - it has a tropical feel, but not in a good way

Hedjwitch · 04/08/2025 14:35

Very gusty winds in Central Scotland but not as bad as forecast. Sunny skies, shirts on but blowing a hoolie

Dahliasrule · 04/08/2025 14:37

Windy and gusty here. Lincolnshire. Had fun trying to hold onto a gazebo we had put up temporarily to store items from the conservatory whilst a large couch was taken out that way by the British Heart Foundation. Had to take gazebo down in the end and it nearly lifted me with it as we did so.

TerroristToddler · 04/08/2025 14:44

Grey and breezy here in Cambridgeshire, but still around 22 degrees and now and again its quite bright. It's actually quite humid.

Will you be going abroad next year for your holiday @Thisismyalterego ?!

‘Abroad’ can be problematic too, of course.

Mid Wales. Torrential rain and extremely strong gusty winds all morning. Not at all cold though. Around 20 degrees.

The sun is out now but it’s still very windy.
