Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I've had a bit of a lie in so am just drinking my first cuppa & taking my tablets. Boy cat stuck his nose in my ear to wake me up 🙄. The kittens have been fed now, so they've vanished back upstairs - I'm guessing they've gone in dd1's room since all's quiet up there.

We have no plans at all today! Well, nothing hugely exciting! There's last night's washing up & the towels to wash, plus I want to carry on my slow and steady declutter, and pack another few boxes of things we don't often use.

Dd2 is busily working on a spreadsheet to track her GCSE revision so will probably carry on with that - it's colour coded! Dd1 won't have plans - she worked yesterday so will likely spend the day mooching in her pj's.

Later on I'll do some more house hunting, upload a few more items to Vinted, and finish off my current peg dolls - I didn't get to varnishing them yet, so starting that will be today's job. Also need to locate my weighing scales 🤔 since dd2 requested a baking day one day this week & found her recipes yesterday.

We're having pork loin steaks for tea, with garlic roast potatoes and probably salad I think 😋.

After that my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, moisturise, file nails, repaint toenails & chill with my book for a bit.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good Morning Lucysmam and All,

I am going on holiday tomorrow for a week with my DD13 so need to get washing and packing done today! Also, got to cut the grass, tidy the house and call my Mum plus pop out to stock up on cat food for my cat boy who my lovely neighbour will be popping in on.

I really should be getting on with things now but too nice sitting on the sofa double scrolling🙂.

beachlovely · 03/08/2025 09:55

I look forward to this thread every weekend but I’ve never posted before. Thankyou to Lucysmam and everyone who does post! I’ve just baked cookies and scones for family coming over later. The smell is divine. Preteen DS just up and heading to PlayStation, teen DS will probably be asleep until I wake him around 11.30am. Lots of washing to do but sun is shining. Overall a chilled day x

RabbitsRock · 03/08/2025 10:03

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Awake later than has been the case most of the week but was still in a lot of pain 😢 Think I need to go back to the docs as my recent blood test results haven’t been explained fully as yet. Made a cuppa which DH & I had in bed. Sunday mornings are my favourite time as he has the day off so no rush. Contemplating making another one & maybe having cold pizza for breakfast. Unloaded & loaded the dishwasher - it needs more before it gets switched on. A load of washing is on the go. Looking a bit cloudy so it may not get hung out. I’d booked a second bra fitting at M & S as last time I clearly had the “duty idiot” to use DH’s expression! Unfortunately, I have a really sore spot under my boob (sorry tmi!) so phoned to cancel. Will struggle on with a bra extender which has been a Godsend. It’s strange because I’ve lost 4 & a half stone yet my boobs seem to be getting bigger. No other plans. I forgot to defrost the ribeye steaks for tea. Could go to Tescos for some but actually really fancy fish & chips. DD16 will probably have her usual cheesy chips with huge amounts of vinegar. We’ll probably watch a film tonight. Saw “ Philomena” last night & would recommend it. Have a good Sunday everyone.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/08/2025 10:05

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I ended up taking a pill to help me sleep last night so I'm a bit dopey this morning.

Mr Dilemma has just gone out to Lidl to pick up a pork shoulder joint. The one we had delivered yesterday was too small, so I'm going to end up cooking two. It's for my son-out-law's birthday lunch next weekend. He has requested sugared pork, so I will marinade it today and slow cook it tomorrow, then put it in the freezer until Saturday. Wherever I can, I cook in advance, as I never know whether I'm going to be up to cooking when I need to. He has also requested lemon drizzle cake, which I don't like, but since I'm trying not to eat cake that is actually a good thing.

Other than that I don't have much planned. There is some laundry to do, of course, there always is, and I have to time when to put on the dishwasher and do whatever hand dish washing is needed, because our kitchen tap is now dripping so badly we keep the cold water to that tap (that also feeds the dishwasher) switched off unless we need it. I have arranged for a local plumber to come and fix it, but he's away until Wednesday so it won't be fixed until after that. Kettles are being filled in the downstairs shower room/utility.

The highlight of my day will probably be seeing what Mr Dilemma has brought back from Lidl, that wasn't on the list. We're having stir fry this evening as I had lots of lovely vegetables delivered yesterday. Not sure whether it will be with chicken or with beef - we have chicken but Mr Dilemma might come back with some beef. Noodles tonight as that is what Mr Dilemma prefers - stir fry again tomorrow, with a different combination of vegetables and rice (which I prefer). I have recently discovered just how much I like sugar snap peas, both cooked and raw, so they will go into the stir fry and into my salad for lunch today.

swampwitch0 · 03/08/2025 10:08

Morning
I'm still in bed drinking coffee ☕️
Had a busy day spring summer cleaning yesterday and I've still got the bathroom tomorrow do 😫
It's been a rough few months so I didn't do it in the spring.
I do the conservatory in September once the kids are back at school, and dh is painting the study at August bank holiday so more to do then 😫
Dh wants me to file his tax return today (ugh)
I intend to spend the afternoon/evening reading my new book.
It's gorgeous here today..cooler and a bit of drizzle...perfect! 😃

HundredMilesAnHour · 03/08/2025 10:24

Good morning everyone!

I’m having a lovely time sitting on my sofa drinking (very good) coffee and enjoying the sunshine and nice breeze coming through the open windows over the garden. What a relaxing start to the day, bliss! Actually that’s not quite true. I was lying in bed and then thumping started in the flat above me which is my upstairs neighbours shagging so I made a sharp exit to the living room and sofa instead. Note to self: must try not to critique my neighbour’s bedroom skills but it does generally sound rather lacking in imagination and quite disappointing. 😂

So instead I weighed out my coffee beans for the week (1 double espresso measure per day) and made myself a flat white, got Alexa to play my ‘classical favourites’ and am now having a lovely time perusing MN on my iPad.

I was out with a friend yesterday so having a chilled day today getting my head in the game ready for work tomorrow. No plans at all other than watching F1 this afternoon and prowling Vinted for some more clothes that I don’t need but absolutely must have.

Just making some toast for breakfast. I share it with my dwarf hamster as she throws a strop if I don’t give her toast every morning. This is my rodent equivalent of being crazy cat lady. So here we on the sofa waiting for the toaster. And yes, I’m still in my nightie (Piglet in Bed linen, very cool for summer!).

Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?
Rainbow1235 · 03/08/2025 10:30

zingally · 03/08/2025 10:34

Was out in the front garden by 8am doing a bit of weeding. I've made a dent, but still a lot to do. I'm off work this coming week though, so am hopeful of doing a little bit every day if the weather is okay.

First load of washing is on the line, and a second load is almost done. No rain forecast, but it's cloudy, so I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Nothing else planned for the day! I suspect I'll settle down with my book at some point. Perhaps watch a film.

Not planned anything for meals, so it'll be something from the freezer with some reduced veg I got from Asda yesterday.

lucysmam · 03/08/2025 10:37

@beachlovely it's always nice to have someone else post! I love a nosey thread 😊

@RabbitsRock has your break healed ok?

@DilemmaDelilah there's always washing to be done 🙄. I look forward to hearing about Mr. Dilemma's shopping trip 🤣.

@swampwitch0 I leave "spring" cleaning until the summer hols when I can slowly go round everything.

@HundredMilesAnHour she's very sweet, what's her name? Imagining a hamster throwing a strop for her toast made me smile.

@Rainbow1235 me too, it's so frustrating & stressful. What does your dd still need to do?

I've taken my tablets & sorted them for the next week. The washer beeping that it's finished this load will be my cue to actually move and do something useful!

I’m still lazying in bed (having gone down three hours ago to feed the cats/dog and let her out back). I will have to get up as Tesco due at noon and the kitchen is in a state as my DD did some baking last night and seems at 20 to be allergic to washing up , even though she’s quite capable when away at uni! We had tentative plans to go to the Freud Museum but tickets are timed and I simply forgot to book. So instead might crack open my new knitting machine and test it out. The life admin that needs urgent attention (as I have ignored it for a couple weeks) can wait til tomorrow - I refuse to do that kind of stuff on a Sunday.

Jowak1 · 03/08/2025 10:48

Good morning all, I was woken up at 10am by my lovely cat Beatrix who sat on top of me ❤️ having a lazy morning before packing for our holiday to Tenerife on Wednesday- can’t wait 😜. Try and get through the mountains of washing before my son returns home from camping and needs washing before coming on holiday with us Wednesday! I’ll try and get my 14 year old daughter to cut down on the number of bikinis 👙 she wants to take (10) for a week holiday lol 😂

babbi · 03/08/2025 10:53

Good morning all ,
I’ve been up for ages and got quite a bit done around the house including some washing as said by @DilemmaDelilah @lucysmam it never runs out..
now sitting out for 15 mins enjoying the sunshine ☀️

have a great day everyone.. I’m looking forward to the update on the purchases when Mr Dilemma returns !

RabbitsRock · 03/08/2025 10:56

Just to add there is a great summer sale on BooHoo - up to 80% off plus I have E Mails from “Voucher Codes” & you can save a further 10%. I put a lovely bronze metallic Wallis wrap dress in my basket (£8.10) but changed my mind as it has long sleeves & I much prefer short.

OneLilacEagle · 03/08/2025 10:56

Morning all
I haven't posted in a couple of weeks as we were on holiday then trying to recover from the re-entry to the normal routine! Holiday was so fabulous - I went paragliding, much to my surprise - that we all had the post holiday blues. But feeling far more positive now. We've just finished a breakfast of French toast and DS is having a wee blast on the Switch. He and DH are going to a climbing centre and a retro arcade in a bit and I'm getting a rare day to myself. I'm going to fold some laundry then the day is going to be given over to chilling out. Think I'll go for a walk to a local cafe for a coffee then maybe watch a film and do some cross stitch. We've started very loosely to think about visiting Japan next year so that has given me a new language project to get obsessed with, so I'll do a bit of that as well. I've very recently started hrt and I'm feeling much more positive and energised - it's likely placebo effect but I'll take it! Dinner is chicken pie made with left over coq au reisling - yum!

RabbitsRock · 03/08/2025 10:58

@lucysmam thank you for asking - it’s a lot better & hardly any stiffness now but still very painful at times, especially first thing in the morning. I have my next fracture clinic appointment soon & really hope they’ll tell me I can drive again & go back to work. I’ll be forgetting what to do!

RabbitsRock · 03/08/2025 11:00

OneLilacEagle where did you go? Japan is one of the top places I want to visit. In cherry blossom season would be wonderful.

FrankTurnersCat · 03/08/2025 11:09

Morning all!
So far I have one load of washing on the line & waiting for DD to rise so I can have her bedding.
1st pint of coffee down, considering my 2nd but DS is drumming in the dining room which i have to go through to get to the coffee machine & it's very noisy!

Teams catch up with my DSis, step dad & step Grandad as usual earlier. I used to Skype my mum every Sunday at 9.30am but she died very suddenly in Jan 2022 so we have a family catch up now. I love it.
Tea later is cowboy pie then a zoom with my bonus aunty in Canada for a good catch up as we've not managed one for ages.
Can't wait to "see" her 💕

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 03/08/2025 11:15

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Today I'm having lazy day. I have very sore feet and swollen ankles, an unfortunate symptom of overdoing walking on Thursday and diabetes. So I'm trying to rest today. I'm going to do something with mince for dinner, possibly bolognaise or chilli. I ordered cupcakes from Tesco in my order. They didn't have the ones I ordered so sent two boxes of the alternative! So there are 18 mini cupcakes waiting for my grandsons! They will be delighted. Have a good day all

TheTecknician · 03/08/2025 11:16

@lucysmam How long have your kittens been kittens?

lucysmam · 03/08/2025 11:17

@FrankTurnersCat what's cowboy pie?

Lucysmam she’s got to have final viewing in morning then go and pay first month rent and deposit then sign a contract . It’s a small house but only her and my grandson . She was living in my dad’s house but until probate sorted the house needed to be vacant for some reason . I think we will probably end up selling it now which I didn’t want but out of my hands xxx

lucysmam · 03/08/2025 11:18

@TheTecknician erm...almost a year and a half now 🤣

Good morning all, and happy Sunday!

Very lazy day for us here as we’ve been non-stop for the last few weeks, and this is our first full day at home for ages.

I’ve had a nice long lie in with my book and coffee, just showered and starting to think about plans for the day. The whole house is upside down thanks to having guests and also going away for a couple of nights in quick succession, so a lot of laundry and tidying up. We’re going to do some variation of eggs and toast for a late brunch, and then DP has requested a roast later so we’ll head down to the shops to get things for that.

We’ve discussed putting on a classic bond film this evening, and then I’d quite like to finish my book and carry on with the jumper I’m knitting too. Hopefully a nice early night for both of us!

OneLilacEagle · 03/08/2025 11:26

@RabbitsRock we were in Ölüdeniz, Türkiye. We've always wanted to go to Japan, too, but haven't really been in a position to before now. Both my husband and I have had a couple of health scares in the past few years so I'm not putting things off any more! We're going to have to go in the summer holidays so it'll be super hot and sticky but we travelled through Thailand a couple of years ago in July so we know the score. But it's early days yet so I'm trying hard not to get too excited.

drspouse · 03/08/2025 11:27

We are on holiday in Northern France and got up even later than the previous days and DH went to the bakery next door for croissants.
We're off to a museum DS saw in a brochure (he will get bored within 5 minutes but it's near a boating area and DH and I fancy hiring a boat and going round for a bit).
Dinner I'm hoping will be moules from a local beach via a local bistrot.
