Maybe it should be 'what', not 'which'. Anyways..

-aircrafts. Grrr! The plural of aircraft is 'aircraft', not 'aircrafts'. Even aviation companies make this mistake. No excuse.

BTW, I know spelling isn't easy for some so let's keep this light hearted.

I also saw damp squid on a thread yesterday 🦑

My husband used to have a lovely elderly customer who always said "damp squid". We've adopted it.

Noone, when meaning no one or no-one. I'm seeing this more and more on MN and really wonder what people are hearing when they read noone??

Yes!! it drives me mad.

MacDonald's instead of McDonald's really winds me up

Understandable though. Mc is just short for Mac.

Elbowpatch · 26/07/2025 22:21

Another noone instead of no one.

License, when being used as a noun.

Doesn't stop it from being annoying though

Draw and draws for drawer and drawers really grinds my gears

This is a long-accepted anglicized phrase of the original French.

I’d always thought it came from the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Not a spelling mistake as such, but 'wait list' really annoys me if it has obviously been used by someone in the UK. What happened to 'waiting list'?

Oh, and blood work's another one. Surely we have blood tests?

Samiloff · 27/07/2025 09:48

LittleMi55Nobody · 24/07/2025 11:50

DESPATCHED....its bloody dispatched

No it isn’t. Both are correct.

It annoys me too. It’s a list of people who are waiting.

I am not that pedantic with social media. I don’t really care. If I can read it and it makes sense then whatever.

If you want me to be pedantic your title does not read well to me.

OSTMusTisNT · 27/07/2025 11:52

Rouge instead of rogue. You aren't cool going rouge.

Boarder instead of border.

Stationery/stationary

Sincerely not faithfully

Definately 😡

OSTMusTisNT · 27/07/2025 11:54

Also, people who say "proberly"....it's fecking probably. (Don't gets me started on probs....).

LetMeGoogleThat · 27/07/2025 12:20

BumpyWinds · 28/07/2025 13:45

A friend and I share photos of misspellings “in the wild”. Here are two of them!

I have to walk past this every day.
Why don’t the sign makers point this out? It makes me murderous.

The difference between loath and loathe is as follows:
Loath (adjective): Means unwilling or reluctant. For example, "I am loath to accept the offer".
Loathe (verb): Means to dislike greatly or to feel disgust for. For example, "I loathe doing chores".
In summary, loath describes a state of reluctance, while loathe expresses a strong feeling of dislike.

The difference between "breath" and "breathe" is as follows:
Breath: This is a noun that refers to the air that is taken into or expelled from the lungs. For example, "Take a deep breath."
Breathe: This is a verb that describes the action of inhaling and exhaling air. For example, "I can hardly breathe."
In summary, "breath" is what you take in or let out, while "breathe" is the action of doing so.

Also, the garments you wear are clothes not cloths.

Lol this does remind me of the time that a kid (aged about 9 I think) pointed out to my dad that "restaurant" was spelled wrong on the side of his van! It wasn't my dad's responsibility, but that van had sat on our driveway every night for about a month at this point and none of us had noticed!

I'd definitely spot it now, but my defence for not noticing at the time was that I was in my annoying teenager phase and my parents were doing well if they even got eye contact from me...!

pontivex · 30/07/2025 02:18

Seen in two Facebook marketplace sales posts
”Dinning table with 4 stalls” (stools)
Car with a ‘toe ball’

References to ‘women’ when they mean the singular e.g ‘I know a women who teaches yoga’

’His’ instead of He’s. ‘His got flu’

And let’s not get started on Brought instead of bought

‘AndWalla’ instead of ‘et voila’is thankfully much less common these days

Chimpaccent · 30/07/2025 02:26

Loose, instead of lose, it grinds my gears because I say it in my head as loose which pisses me off even more.
