The queen once spent a night in the royal train in a siding here.

I'm on the border of a place that is famous for cakes.

Salford and Manchester?
I’m going with Eccles but it could also be Chorley (the cities above would be incorrect though)

We are part of a much larger city but people here like to pretend we’re not really a part of said city.

We have the largest, or one of the largest, urban parks in Europe.

Our MP considers himself above the riffraff (and went to court over some words).

Sutton Coldfield!

Garrison town. Famous for UFOs. There are some lions just up the road.

You must be in Warminster

GinToBegin · 20/07/2025 23:12

Home of the tallest building in the world for over 200 years, and when it wasn’t anymore, it wasn’t because something taller was built.

I can see said structure from my house 😀
I live near the highest market town in South Yorkshire
Top Gear filmed an episode there a few years ago and delighted in taking the mickey out of the name.
The secondary school there was founded more than 600 years ago and still has the same name.

@GinToBegin Lincoln! Funnily enough, someone was telling me this only a few weeks ago.

Gulliver88 · 20/07/2025 23:23

A stupid french person may eat chips here .

Calvin Harris was born and brought up here.
He now owns a pub here and can be seen occasionally.
I once stopped when driving to let him cross the road ...claim to fame

It is!… iirc, the tallest building in the world before the cathedral was one of the Egyptians pyramids which blows my mind a little bit.

In my town we call a pie in a barm cake (bap, bread roll or tea cake) a kebab.

We also have a pier but no sea or ocean.

It has a large building where Oscar Wilde stayed. Banksy has left his mark on the outside wall of the building.
The town gets very loud and busy on the Bank Holiday weekend in August and you can see on BBC what is happening here.
