Anyone else exhausted for no reason?

I'm knackered

My mum is knackered

Her friends and neighbours are knackered

My colleagues and neighbours are knackered

Or at least everyone that we've spoken to 😂 is it just recovering from the hot weather in the Southeast? Yes, my neighbours also live in the same stifling new build but mum's neighbours don't. My colleagues don't.

Is there a bug going round that just makes everyone absolutely shattered?! Only one of the people I'm speaking to has little kids. So it's not an end of term thing.

I did walk a few miles after work yesterday, but I had to really psych myself up to do it. Tonight, I'm just going to sit on the sofa. Which feels exhausting!

I haven’t asked other people but I am knackered. I think it’s a hangover from the hot weather where there were so many nights I couldn’t sleep

Clockface222 · 16/07/2025 20:21

I think it is the humidity. I don't feel knackered but certainly not as energetic as normal.

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/07/2025 20:23

Knackered here (SW) still feels quite humid if a bit cooler. (thankfully)

Whatshesaid96 · 16/07/2025 20:24

Yep. Kids are up early though every morning and I'm struggling to sleep. Hot weather makes it harder and then when I can't get to sleep the intrusive thoughts go round and round. I'm then exhausted, too tired to exercise, lack of endorphins and the intrusive thoughts start again. Round the merry go round we go. DH is working abroad with work in a completely different timezone this week. So along with work being ridiculously intense I've just got no sounding board. The kids are really needing the summer holidays and I'm fed up of being DS4's personal punch bag.

Blimey felt good getting all that out

fthisfthatfeverything · 16/07/2025 20:25

Yes
the hubby and I

MrsPoirot · 16/07/2025 20:30

It happened to me last week. Kept nodding off early in the day and that's not me at all! (when it happens it's normally after a big lunch at the week-end). Started to get a bit worried, but now it's gone. Wonder if it's a weird bug that is going round and has no other symptom than exhaustion. Or maybe it was just the heat...

I had two naps last week around 5pm on different days. Not like me at all!. I think it was the heat, I'm fine now!

EmeraldRoulette · 16/07/2025 20:35

Thanks all

I genuinely wonder if it's a bug, partly because I've got that weird thing that I have when I'm ill which is that I eat, and I still feel like I haven't eaten anything. I'm not hungry. It's like the nutrients just haven't registered. Hard to explain.

Utterly shattered

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/07/2025 20:36

Come to think of it I've been sneezing a bit

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 16/07/2025 20:38

I was absolutely flattened today - it came on yesterday afternoon. Am overdue a holiday but it’s odd.

caringcarer · 16/07/2025 20:40

I'm sure it's the heat. We just aren't used to it in the UK. I fell asleep just before dinner time twice in the heat. DH left me sleeping too instead of waking me up.

TheBuffetInspector · 16/07/2025 20:42

Insomniac and anaemic so knackered here but that's within reason.

I am so tired and I'm so sick of nodding off at 4am and getting up at 6. I don't need to get up but menopause is acting like I've had 17 coffees.

heartsinvisiblefury · 16/07/2025 21:23

Same OP. Absolutely exhausted and don’t know why

EmeraldRoulette · 16/07/2025 22:24

interesting

I've got to go and clear up the dinner things and it feels like running a marathon! If I woke up with a cold, I wouldn't be surprised.

hope we all feel better soon.

I'm the same. I keep thinking I'm about to come down with something but my only symptom is exhaustion. I fell asleep during the day today which is very unlike me. I'm in the SE. I guess it must be a hangover from the heat, but I've never felt this before!

LadyJaneGrey18 · 16/07/2025 23:01

I’ve been feeling like this. I am really struggling with it . I’ve also been eating constantly which isn’t like me, and don’t feel nourished as PP said. Also feel a lot of nameless anxiety. I hate feeling like this.

GreySweater · 16/07/2025 23:08

DH and I also feel shattered. We’re trying to work out why earlier today. I had to go to sleep for 30mins this afternoon as I just couldn’t stay awake. Also, seem to be very hungry too - hadn’t registered until it was mentioned in a PP. It’s probably exhaustion from the heat, not sleeping well and the impact that has on appetite. Reassuring to hear it’s not just us feeling like this!

CalicoPusscat · 16/07/2025 23:13

Yes, really lethargic.

Howtotrainarabbit · 16/07/2025 23:25

Always but I don't think it's a bug, it's just life

HonoriaBulstrode · 16/07/2025 23:38

Yes, I fell asleep yesterday afternoon and again yesterday evening, and still slept well last night. I did wonder whether it might have been a bug; I don't often fall asleep in the daytime unless I'm going down with something. I don't like hot weather, but it's never left me feeling like this before.

Unlike some pp, I haven't had much appetite/haven't had the energy to cook, but put that down to the heat.

EmeraldRoulette · 16/07/2025 23:53

I really do wonder re bug...

but I've just put the bins out and at nearly midnight, the corridor is still a sauna. So it might be the heat + the building.

at least my previous block had windows in the corridor.

maybe it's all just accumulated in my case, but that doesn't explain everyone of course. Unless the development is full of MNers 😂

robinibor · 16/07/2025 23:59

Yes the whole family. We cannot muster the energy to anything atm. I can't work out if it the heat or a bug either?! No other symptoms just pure unadulterated lethargy.

Apocketfilledwithposies · 17/07/2025 00:16

I think it's the heat. Even my child that lives his life like he's the Energizer Bunny reincarnated has been lethargic.

robinibor · 17/07/2025 07:57

The thing is it has been cool for.a couple of days and I still feel the same.
