Anyone else exhausted for no reason?

I'm knackered

My mum is knackered

Her friends and neighbours are knackered

My colleagues and neighbours are knackered

Or at least everyone that we've spoken to 😂 is it just recovering from the hot weather in the Southeast? Yes, my neighbours also live in the same stifling new build but mum's neighbours don't. My colleagues don't.

Is there a bug going round that just makes everyone absolutely shattered?! Only one of the people I'm speaking to has little kids. So it's not an end of term thing.

I did walk a few miles after work yesterday, but I had to really psych myself up to do it. Tonight, I'm just going to sit on the sofa. Which feels exhausting!

How's everyone doing?

I was convinced it was a bug, but I'm now hearing so many people with the same problem

Unlike most of the country, we have not had masses of rain and we have not had any easing off in the mugginess. I'm hearing people who love hot weather complaining that the lack of air is driving them nuts as well.

Same here (far SE). We've had enough rain to leave a few puddles, but nothing like the torrents forecast and it's very muggy. I don't feel quite so wiped out as I did, though. Not doing stuff is due to idleness and procrastination, not exhaustion.

BasilParsley · 19/07/2025 17:46

SW England here, I too have the lethargy and the procrastination. I also have a lung condition that doesn't like it when the weather is too hot, too cold, too wet, too humid (I know, I know, but give me 21C with sunshine and a slight breeze and I'm fine!).

I think it's primarily because we've not had any decently cool night temps for a while to help us sleep. Even when it's overcast, it's still too warm and too muggy...

The Met Office is telling me we're going to have heavy rain overnight (there's even a yellow warning out there). I hope so, it will dampen down the dust, clean the pollen off everything and hopefully make it feel cooler!

Dr13Hadley · 19/07/2025 18:08

I feel exactly the same. Lay down after lunch today and fell asleep for 3 hours! I’m shattered and there is no logical reason for it.

EmeraldRoulette · 19/07/2025 18:17

@BasilParsley you've just reminded me -I have bronchiectasis so that might be why the lack of air really bothers me

Mum has the same plus another condition - we both have leftover problems from pneumonia in the past.

I got back from her place, posted on here, and fell asleep for about an hour! Just don't feel myself at all.

But I went to a party on Thursday night in an air-conditioned venue. I arrived thinking I wouldn't stay long because I felt a bit crap, and would get the bus home at 9ish. But the aircon made me feel so much better! I was there till about midnight. I didn't have any alcohol because I thought that would probably be a bad idea.

Yes exhausted lately, I think it’s partly because I’ve had a lot on at work lately, but also the heat is tiring. I hate the mugginess. Even after rain last night the air is heavy. I’ve napped twice today and three times last weekend! Not like me.

HonoriaBulstrode · 21/07/2025 00:00

I've just been out to post a letter and it's cool enough that you might want a cardi if you were going further than the letterbox. Few spots of rain too.

Mistyglade · 21/07/2025 00:22

Omg, yes just a bit. I’ve been napping mid morning after a full night sleep this past week or more. I’ve been so worried about my health, guilt about laziness. Am I glad to have found this thread.

EmeraldRoulette · 21/07/2025 00:28

@HonoriaBulstrode same! I'm so pleased. Flat is still 26 though.

@Mistyglade I was worried too. Only less so because I was away a few days and felt fine to go around being a tourist. Hope you feel better soon.

How are you all? I am starting to think I have long Covid my fatigue has got a lot worse.

lemoncurd2025 · 24/07/2025 15:23

I’ve been shattered for about 2 weeks with no idea why

BasilParsley · 24/07/2025 18:06

Felt slightly better when we had a bit of rain and cooler temps earlier in the week but today has been brutal. Overcast, humid, still, and v. warm.

Only upside was some Irish tinker knocked on my door at lunchtime telling me he was working on the roof of my neighbour (there is no-one working on the roof of any of my neighbours in my road) and noticed that there were issues with my roof too. He could fix them ... I said I needed speak to the co-owner. He attempted to insist I contacted them then and there.

I pulled the breathless card (because I was!) and said sorry, I am having trouble breathing today. He asked if I needed my inhaler. I said yes (because I did!) and he immediately backed off....

Still suffering this evening because it's so, so, so still and humid and airless...

HonoriaBulstrode · 24/07/2025 18:27

I've felt much more with it this week, so I think it was the hot weather for me.

This has also been the first week for a long time when there's been nothing I have to do, so I've been enjoying pottering around, doing a bit of decluttering, thinking about contacting friends or having a day out, which I didn't have the energy for before - couldn't face the thought of getting on a train and going anywhere.

Brentinger · 24/07/2025 19:25

Shattered here too but pretty sure it’s Covid rather than allergies.

Redhairandhottubs · 24/07/2025 19:54

Yep me and DP both feel the same. We were thinking me must be coming down with something, but it could just be a hangover from lack of sleep during the hot weather. I’m normally really active but I haven’t been to the gym all week. I’ve just been sitting, scrolling on my phone and fed,img sorry for myself.
