I've only had one takeaway so far this year. We were on holiday at half term in May and got some chips. We don't like batter so we bought some fish and baked it in foil (self catering holiday!) and had that with the chippy's chips.

Wednesday night, lamb bhuna, pilau rice, keema naan. Was bloody delicious!

I can no longer read the word lamb bhuna without quoting smithy

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 11/07/2025 20:48

Last night. Indian. Spicier than I was expecting.

This evening.

Deep pan meat supreme from Pizza Hut.

Saving the other half for tomorrow as it'll be easy to reheat when I get home from work.

Pizza reheats really well in the air fryer if you haven't tried it before

SecretFerret · 11/07/2025 20:49

At least a month ago. Greek halloumi wrap with chips. Hit the spot.

DiscoBob · 11/07/2025 20:49

I think I'm getting pizza tonight. A mushroom one. I think I found a hack to make it cheaper if I add a couple things to a plain one!

tartyflette · 11/07/2025 20:50

Yesterday (and today, leftovers) had shish kofta with rice, burghul and salad, DH had charcoal grilled chops with ditto. We also had bread, hummous and baba ghanoush. And hot sauce. Everything was qfresh and good quality. Not cheap but we did have enough for two meals.

TheChosenTwo · 11/07/2025 20:50

Last Wednesday I think it was with DD2, everyone else was out, I was under the weather, dd2 came home from work and we got a Chinese. Shared a beef chow mein, crispy duck pancakes, salt and chilli squid, some wok fried greens in garlic and some prawn toast. I’m on MJ so had a few mouthfuls of each and was done but it was the first takeaway this year for me I think!
I do go out to eat an awful lot instead 😂

TheDandyLion · 11/07/2025 20:51

Chinese in February.

RaininSummer · 11/07/2025 20:51

A rather nasty Indian meal about 6 years ago.

SingleAHF · 11/07/2025 20:52

Does a bag of chips on the seafront count?

TomatoSandwiches · 11/07/2025 20:53

Today! Although not sure if its classed as take away, it was a 4 course meal by Home from Simon Rogan, reccomended by a fellow Mumsnetter, it was a treat and very tasty will absolutely try again.

Last chippy tea was in May and I had scampi 😋

Overthebow · 11/07/2025 20:53

Last week, Indian.

Absolutely

mintydoggyv · 11/07/2025 20:53

Macdonlds breakfast

FlowerPower2525 · 11/07/2025 20:55

Kebab about 3 weeks ago. Theres a van based one about 5 minutes away and it is so good. Was tempted to get one this evening too but opted not to and had bacon egg and cheese toasties instead as Theres always about a 30 min wait at least as so popular

”we don’t like batter” omg are you an alien?? Im coeliac and dream of batter!!

I had chicken shashlik and boiled rice (dieting 😞) last Saturday. Will have a takeaway again tomorrow🥴

MrsSethGecko · 11/07/2025 20:58

I had chips, fishcake and beans tonight. Lovely.

Gowlett · 11/07/2025 21:05

Massaman from my local Thai place.
Nowhere near their usual quality…

Curry, rice, spring rolls & prawn crackers.
One portion of each, 27 quid. Not kidding!

FridgeJenga · 11/07/2025 22:14

@Gowlett I know right, one dish alone cost almost £10 around these parts!
But delicious all the same.

Oh god, before COVID-19 hit. It was something like the day before lockdown, we got it for DHs birthday as he wanted a Chinese.

Never had one since. Mostly due to cost and the fact we had a baby and I cook every day as a default.

Kfc portions are tiny i do like the fries now that they are seasoned though and kfc gravy will always be elite

Nothing beats a kfc gravy!

WhatTheHelll · 11/07/2025 22:16

McDonald’s on Wednesday but it was more if A quick thing than a takeaway.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 11/07/2025 22:16

Fried chicken wings and chips tonight

WaitedBlankey · 11/07/2025 22:25

Chips tonight. Adult sons were having a takeaway together and they got an order of chips for me and DP to share after our light meal earlier.

It's too hot to have much at once.
