Apart from just salty butter, I love peanut butter. It goes all warm and flight and tastes delicious.

Marmite

Maxorias · 29/07/2025 20:27

Grilled cheese definitely, also salty butter, and spreadable goat cheese with cherry tomato.

Celeryedition · 29/07/2025 20:31

I can’t stand butter so I have olive oil and balsamic vinegar with a sprinkling of rock salt.

Dimpleu · 29/07/2025 20:35

Pate or creamy cheese mushrooms

Sad I miss toast. I'm gluten intolerant and gluten-free bread is shit, so I don't bother with it. Before my stupid intolerance I liked peanut butter on toast best!

I’m gluten intolerant, is sourdough ever ok?

Goldengirl123 · 29/07/2025 20:42

Bovril

Butter and banana

DisforDarkChocolate · 29/07/2025 21:01

Jam, preferably cherry jam.

Nope, I'm afraid it's got gluten in just like all normal bread.

Cinaferna · 29/07/2025 21:04

Marmite. I almost never have toast when when I do, it's butter and marmite.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 29/07/2025 21:05

Savoury: butter and crunchy peanut butter
Sweet: blackcurrant jam

Also-rans: cheese, avocado, Boursin with black pepper, apricot jam, thick cut marmalade.

BigSkies2022 · 29/07/2025 21:25

If it had only to be one thing, probably very thinly cut Gruyère or similar hard cheese. Salted butter second choice. Dark roast crunchy peanut butter, possibly with extra salt, third choice. Also like Marmite, but that would have to be butter + marmite, so not just one thing.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 29/07/2025 21:29

I also love a bit of paté

RedRec · 29/07/2025 21:30

Marmite, marmalade, strawberry jam.

tillyandmilly · 29/07/2025 21:31

Jasons protein bread toasted with crunchy peanut butter - whole earth variety !

NippyNinjaCrab · 29/07/2025 21:34

Peanut butter banana and honey sorry I needed 3!

kittenheel · 29/07/2025 21:36

Cheese melted in microwave (don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!)

Denimrules · 29/07/2025 21:37

Apricot jam - once a week on a Saturday

Screamingabdabz · 29/07/2025 21:38

Salty butter and lashing of real honey (not the supermarket stuff).

fruitypancake · 29/07/2025 21:39

Marmite - always

CoachNot · 29/07/2025 21:40

Marmite XO

ConcernedOfClapham · 29/07/2025 22:31

Mmmmmm… I could live on toast… preferably sourdough

in order of preference;

marmite

peanut butter (used to be crunchy, but my aging teeth struggle with that now, so have rediscovered smooth) with a sprinkle of cracked black pepper

fried egg(s)

toasted cheese, and raw red onion

prosciutto and emmental (both toasted)

My nan’s homemade bramble jelly (which I haven’t had since she passed, 23 years ago 😔)

B&L (hold the T) and truffle mayonnaise

Strawberry Jam

Haggis (toasted)

tinned mackerel (or sardines)

sliced grilled chorizo and a drizzling of honey

golden syrup (not had for ages - due to teeth issues again, but I do miss it)

roast beef slices (lightly toasted) and raw red onion rings

(baguette) with tomato ketchup, mozzarella, and herbs (ultra-speedy knocked up French bread pizza)

salivating now… 😋

oliverreed · 29/07/2025 22:35

This is making me feel so hungry for toast!

Must be straight out of the toaster then salted butter then sliced bananas, lime marmalade, fig jam, grated mature cheddar, marmite, poached eggs (not all at once).

RosesAndHellebores · 29/07/2025 22:41

I only have toast at Christmas as a special treat. Wheat intolerant.

Xmas morning - pate with a squeeze of lemon
Boxing day - turkey dripping which is delish but the only other person who has ever liked it, who I know was my grandma.

Needhelp101 · 29/07/2025 22:48

Marmite, on white toast with butter and slices of vine-ripe tomatoes.
A fried egg with salt, black pepper and chopped fresh chives.
Yum.
