What one thing do you like on your toast?

Apart from just salty butter, I love peanut butter. It goes all warm and flight and tastes delicious.

Jam and cheese, or Nutella and banana

Tinned tomatoes.

Also like scrambled eggs, marmalade and jam.

Peanut butter and sliced banana.

Butter and Gentlemen's Relish.

Bread toasted to just the perfect spot (taken me 30-odd years to get it right, I can’t teach it), then cooled so that evenly sliced slabs of cold unsalted butter don’t melt (I need a thick layer), and then a perfect amount of Marmite evenly spread across the top.

TLDR: I basically need an equal layer of cold toast to solid butter and then Marmite slathered on the top.

Jam/marmalade - which depends on type and thickness of bread and how toasted it is.
Mashed banana topped with whatever nuts in the cupboard -best with wholemeal loaf.
Good quality thick cream cheese drizzled with honey
Garlic and olive oil - for this the bread jas to be toasted sourdough

Lime Marmalade. Forever.

Marmite and cheese on the first one, then a really bitter marmalade on the second.

My DD wouldn’t eat puréed baby food and we had around 50 freebies (remember the days of worthwhile freebies? I miss them) so I used all of them as toast toppers.

If we’re ill I mash overripe banana on toast drizzled with posh honey. It really helps a sore throat and feels like a treat.

I’m not a lover of toast but I do quite like almond butter, hummus and roast tomatoes or spicy tofu on it.

It’s been a tough internal argument, but I’ve finally decided: salty butter & zingy lemon curd. The most indulgent and delicious combination, any time of day or night.
