Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have been fed & vanished back upstairs - no elephanting about today, they must have gone back to bed! No one else is up yet so it's nice and quiet, although I have heard dd2 moving about in her room.

We don't have anything much planned for the week. I want to nip to Lidl for fruit for the coming weeks breakfasts & that's about it. Dd1 worked until midnight so will be in bed a while longer, dd2 has done all her homework so will spend the day working on her notes for her upcoming assessment I think. One of them will come to Lidl with me (never both of them 🤷‍♀️).

I'll spend the day pottering again - I did very little of what I'd half planned to do yesterday, so will do some more today. I did clear out the pantry & pack a couple more boxes, as well as finish the bracelets I wanted to do though. I think I'll start today with listing on Vinted and sorting this week's tablets, and see where I go from there.

We're having a roast for tea, because I fancy it 😋 followed by some sort of sweet treat picked up at Lidl.

Once we've tidied up after tea, it's our usual early showers ready for early ish nights & school/work tomorrow. Mine will be my Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, followed by tan, paint toenails and maybe stick some new press ons if I cba.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning, we’re in a very dull London today. We’re going to the science museum as we’ve bought tickets to power up (hundreds of different games consoles), so I’m looking forward to a day of being called old by our son. We all had a late night last night so we’re all a bit tired, I went out out so I’m a teent bit delicate this morning.

We’re also meeting some friends for lunch who we haven’t been able to see for a while, so I’m really looking forward to that. We’re staying with a friend, our daughter is intrigued by his cats, our cat is a coach potato but these are young so very bonkers, so she has been learning how to play with them, and has so far somehow avoided being scratched.

We fly home tomorrow evening, so we need to start packing really, we’re all in one room so its all a bit a choatic!

Zippedydodah · 06/07/2025 09:21

Good morning @lucysmam , I’ve been up since 6.30 so I have walked the dogs separately and am about to enjoy a big coffee with my avocado toast- after 10,067 steps I deserve it!
Yesterday was pretty wet, heavy drizzle rather than proper rain, and it’s looking a bit the same today.
I started a knitted mitre-square blanket while half-watching the Tour de France yesterday, I have so much sock yarn to use up but it’s slow going at the moment so more of that today.
When it stops raining I will do a bit in the garden, there’s always something I can find to do out there.
I stupidly tripped up on my second dog walk with ZDog2, I have a rather impressive bruise developing on my right knee and another on my right forearm 🙄; I am so clumsy! Never mind, at least I didn’t break anything!
Chicken curry for dinner, looking forward to that 😋
Wishing you a lovely day 🌻

gingercat02 · 06/07/2025 09:32

Managed to miss you yesterday. We are having a pretty quiet weekend overall all. Trip to the garden centre yesterday for some bigger pots, and plants to fill the smaller ones. Cut some rhubarb and picked raspberries.
Today I'm having breakfast and then off to PiYo.
British F1 this afternoon, burgers from a local restaurant for tea followed by Rhubarb crumble
Not very exciting but we needed some downtime

Whattheduck · 06/07/2025 09:32

Morning
I’m having my first coffee with an almond croissant (my weekend treat) whilst listening to a podcast and looking out at the much needed rain
Dh is away with work until tomorrow it’s our 29th wedding anniversary today so we’ll go out for lunch in the week to celebrate
Dd is now home from university for the summer she’s just left to go to work until 5.00
I need to go to Sainsburys to get a few bits
Lasagne for tea later
Will hopefully get out for a dog walk at some point
Going to clean and sort out my utility room and load my car up with some stuff I need to take to the charity shop tomorrow
Will watch tv tonight / read
Have a nice day everyone

gingercat02 · 06/07/2025 09:33

@lucysmam what's happening with your move?

RabbitsRock · 06/07/2025 09:35

Good morning @lucysmam & The Sunday Gang! Made a cuppa & had it in bed with a figroll. DD16 was up really early & actually went out for a walk - she never usually goes at weekends because she’s too anxious she’ll see someone she knows 😢 No firm plans for today. Weather hasn’t made its mind up yet. I think it’s raining atm. Have a few bits to sell so will take photos & put them on Marketplace. I have a ridiculous amount of clothes! Recently ordered 2 more dresses & reserved one until after payday, plus will be getting yet another in just under a week when the seller gets back from holiday. It was great because I thought she had sold it but it turned out to be another one ( a prom style dress that she was letting go for £30). I really fell in love with “ my dress” so was chuffed when I learnt it was still available. Just hope it fits! I have lost 4 & a half stone but seem to have barely gone down a dress size which is odd.
The dishwasher hasn’t got much in it so will probably go on after tea. There’s a load of washing to go out, weather permitting. DH is hoping to go for a bike ride late afternoon & I’ll go for a walk at some point as I’m feeling quite stiff & achey lately. Nice easy tea of chicken breasts cooked in foil, Jersey Royals, coleslaw & salad. Must file my toenails! I cut them recently but notice they’re so rough & raggedy against the bedsheets! Hate that feeling! May wash my hair or leave it until tomorrow. Have a good Sunday everyone 🙂

frozendaisy · 06/07/2025 09:36

Morning all

might eat out haven’t got that far

Blushingm · 06/07/2025 09:37

I’m working today - district nurse

MinnieMountain · 06/07/2025 09:38

I’m waiting for the pharmacy to open so I can see someone about a swollen insect bite.

DS is coming back shortly from MIL’s where he spent last night.

We’re having roast pork for lunch, then I’m taking DS to the optician’s.

mamaduckbone · 06/07/2025 09:39

I'm still in bed with tea and my book / mumsnet. It's raining here which I'm very happy about as the garden is desperate. It's also a good excuse for a lazy start.

Today is going to be a getting on top of life day - cleaning, putting things away, catching up on some school work - we've had a few busy weekends so everything has been let slide.

There's a chicken for dinner, which we'll probably roast but have with salad.

ssd · 06/07/2025 09:43

Morning @lucysmam and everyone, I'm up watching tv, go between Alan Titchmarsh and Jane Mcdonald, whilst enjoying my tea and toasted bagel. We had a lovely day out yesterday so today will be more mundane, probably cleaning and putting away laundry.

How are you keeping now @lucysmam ?

Thislittlekitten · 06/07/2025 09:46

Morning all.

Just had my breakfast and prepared breakfast for DD and her sleepover squad. Ddog is furious he’s been banished from them but he is a pain when people are eating. He slept with them all night and wants to go back to have fun.
Im just getting ready to get him out for a proper walk.

Very little planned today. Might put a new series on later and try to pile
through some ironing.

Thinking of making some plans with friends next week. Don’t want to over plan the holidays but also don’t want to waste them.

Some m and s chicken burgers for tea. And early night.

@lucysmam Keep us updated with your move. I’ll be thinking of you.

ThomasShelbysfagend · 06/07/2025 09:48

It is throwing it down out side.
Which is wonderful as I am about to set off to deliver ds to his football match AND for some ungodly reason, I have to stay and watch.
DH who would normally do this has taken other ds to his hobby this morning.

It’s a field. It’s going to be muddy, cold, wet, with no coffee facilities whatsoever.
And oh dear God, other football parents who might try to talk to me.

I don’t mind admitting, I’m absolutely crap at even pretending to be a football parent, even for a day.
Keep telling myself… Suck it up buttercup, it’s only a day!

All of this after a fractious argument with a pre teen about breakfast choices. 😩

Andnowshesatoddler · 06/07/2025 09:51

Wer having a easy morning with lots of coffee and nice breakfast today plenty of tablet time and I'm sat under a blanket 😆 got the fan on but there's something homely and comforting about a blanket on.
This afternoon were off for a picky tea at mums.

Eastendboysandwestendgirls · 06/07/2025 09:52

Simon it really is a dull day in London today, hoping it perks up later, I've got a lot of washing I want to put out when the machine finishes.
Supermarket shortly, then cleaning the house and doing an enormous pile of paperwork. Two weeks until the end of term and A LOT of stuff to try and get sorted. Some sort of Buddha bowl for tea, I have lots of bits to use up.
Good luck with the house Lucy's mam - I found it so difficult finding somewhere to rent that would accept pets, it took ages. I hope your (second) attempt goes more smoothly.

lucysmam · 06/07/2025 09:59

@gingercat02 it all fell through mid-week. Annoyingly, I was looking last night, & the house has been re-advertised at a higher price. Not masses higher, but enough to make a difference to whoever ends up paying the rent on it. So, back to square one - steadily packing boxes & hunting for something affordable <sigh>.

At my mum's today. Lazy morning. Need to pop to pharmacy later and leave for home after dinner.

Ooh same! Went to an RSPB reserve yesterday and got bitten by something and now my whole arm is swollen.
Today, I got up reasonably early and made a chilli, plus vegi chilli for ds girlfriend. Later my dnephew is coming over and dh is running a D&D session for the three teens. Im taking dd riding and hoping somehow to catch some of the British gp in between. Also going to make a pavlova and try to tidy the house before getting everything ready for school and work next week.

Loafbeginsat60 · 06/07/2025 10:07

We are away this weekend- went to the local pub last night and danced til midnight like teenagers 😂

Dh is sleeping off an epic hangover. I'm about to cook breakfast for everyone then we are going for a sea swim / paddle to help with hangovers!

Then I reckon a late Sunday lunch and a fairly lazy day.

Tomorrow head home and visit my dad on the way.

And then the dc and I are on 6 weeks summer hols so I'm not really sure what we will do. Wee trips here and there and a lot of chilling I suspect

afaloren · 06/07/2025 10:11

We had a party last night with loads of people staying over wherever they could find a soft spot so the house is a disaster. DH did put the dishwasher on before bed but there’s still stuff everywhere including outside. I hope nobody left anything important out because it rained!

I’m sitting on the one dry garden chair hoping the living room clears out before the tennis starts. I’ve fed all the pets. A couple of people are up and about so toast and tea on the go. I didn’t drink but a couple of sore heads I suspect!

DilemmaDelilah · 06/07/2025 10:14

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I woke up shortly after 3am and finally managed to get back to sleep about 7.30am - only to be woken up by next door's children bouncing a big ball against the back wall of their house shortly after 9am. We're semi detached and it is about 6ft from my bedroom window so no more sleep for me! Next door are very good and don't allow the children (3 of them) into the garden until 9am at the weekend, but I do wish it was later!

We had a bit of a drama yesterday evening. We have a very elderly cat who has an overactive thyroid so she is very thin, she also has arthritis in her hips so she walks a bit strangely, she can't retract her claws so they look very long (they're not - they are trimmed regularly at the vet), she is completely deaf and, we think, she has dementia. For all that she is still a happy cat and enjoys life - once she doesn't then we will let her go. So - anyway - I just happened to be looking through Facebook when I was a post saying 'does anyone know this cat' with a picture of our cat in somebody else's kitchen! There was a description of how thin she was and how long her claws were and wondering if she was a stray. If course then there were all the usual responses saying to take her to the vet to see if she was chipped, poor cat, doesn't look as if she has been fed, etc. Bear in mind that this was our beloved little cat who had been fed and given her medication less than an hour earlier, who had decided to go off for a little walk and who had then found a nice warm paving slab to lie on. It just happened to be in somebody else's front garden. They took her inside the house! And shut her in a bedroom! It was pure luck I happened to see the post... and even luckier that Mr Dilemma managed to identify the house from pictures on a previous post. It was a house just across the street (a cul de sac, very quiet) from us. I had messaged the person but they hadn't read the message, so we went over there to pick her up. Luckily just in time, as she said she was about to take her to the vet.

Whereas I REALLY appreciate the thought behind it, cats do wander... It was a warm dry evening and it wouldn't have hurt her to stay out enjoying the evening for a little longer. I understand she doesn't look well, that's because she isn't! But perhaps, if she isn't showing any signs of immediate distress, leave her alone to see if she goes home on her own? The up side of it is that our nearly neighbour (and just about everyone else in the area) now knows who she belongs to and can let us know if they are worried about her in the future.

Anyway... Just needed to get that off my chest!I

As for today - no particular plans. I have taken some gazpacho out of the freezer for my lunch and I will have that with a cheese scone, also out of the freezer. There is just enough of the gammon left for Mr Dilemma to have for his lunch - it was very nice. This evening we are having pork loin steaks because a) I'm trying to clear some space in the freezer and b) I have some veg in the fridge that needs using. The pork loin steaks were bought by Mr Dilemma on Friday when he went out to get me a melon. They were yellow stickered and in a pack of twelve, so the pack had to be split and put in the freezer (that I am trying to create space in).

Does anyone else have a DH who CONSISTENTLY goes out for one or two things and comes back with a whole shopping bag full? I love him dearly, but every time he goes shopping I have to ask him what he has bought that wasn't on the list...... There were several other things besides the pork.

dontforgetme · 06/07/2025 10:21

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

Woke up around 5am to it absolutely belting it down. It was so loud, I shut all the windows which have been permanently open for weeks. Got back into bed and slept until ds woke up around 8.30, absolutely lovely lie in thank you son 🤩

Slow morning so far, I’m messing about on here, ds on his tablet and dp making another round of tea. I’ve got a load of darks in the machine, absolutely no chance of that drying outside today so will get that on the airer and quickly run the vac round downstairs.

Will get ready to pick up our car around 12pm, fetch dd from her dads and drop her to her friends birthday party. We’ve promised Ds a Maccies, then dp and Ds are going to watch Jurassic Park. I have a whole afternoon of the house to myself and I can’t bloody wait! Might start Ginny & Georgia as quite a few of my friends have been telling me to watch it for ages.

Have lovely Sundays all.

Crunchymum · 06/07/2025 10:24

Happy Sunday to you all.

We have a local festival today which is usually quite good fun. I'll meet my sister, SIL's and kids there and we'll have a mozey about. We've planned to head off for a picnic at a local park at some stage and then head back for the concert part of the festival.

Weather of course isn't playing ball.

Older DC is heading to cinema with a friend to watch the new Jurassic Park.

I was planning to roast a chicken but probably won't have time so I'll just defrost something I've batch cooked. Probably chilli and we'll have that with rice and broccoli.

Early night all round as we have a mega week ahead.

OneLilacEagle · 06/07/2025 10:26

Good morning all.

On coffee number 2 after a nice breakfast of croissants and porridge. We've cleaned the downstairs in preparation for our new cat sitter to come and perhaps meet the boys, if they aren't in hiding! I'm also trying to write a reference for a former student. I need to dedicate 20 minutes to it but I keep getting distracted.

After she's away, we've got a medium sized list of holiday tasks to complete plus I'd like to paint my wardrobe doors. Might get DH to take DS swimming and pick up something easy for dinner. No idea what! Hopefully get a bit of Turkish study and some cross stitch in. Seems quite busy, writing all that down. We'll see. Might sack it all off and drink wine instead!

Have a good day all.

caringcarer · 06/07/2025 10:39

DS has a cricket match but it's been raing a lot overnight so unsure if it's going ahead. DH just popped out to Morrisons to buy picnic food as he believes they might go ahead with a delayed start as forecast sunny all afternoon from 1pm.
