Robinson’s Advert

Anyone seen the new Robinson’s advert where the mum picks her little boy up from school where he has obviously been misbehaving.

They get home, she pours him some squash and they both start laughing.

No wonder behaviour in schools is getting worse when parents don’t back teachers up.

Bet you’ve never worked in a school. 🤷‍♀️

I think plenty of people have complained about the message it sends and contacted Robinson’s to say so.

Whatever the naysayers say, it sends a poor message about taking sanctions seriously in school. Those who find it amusing have obviously never experienced the lack of aupoort.

Hasn't there been a thread on this already?

FeltCarrot · 02/07/2025 11:30

I had a quick look @SarfLondonLad but couldn’t see one.

Ah, missed that thread. I only saw the advert yesterday, didn’t realise it had been out for a month.

I agree to be honest. But also more importantly, they use far too much squash per glass!

@FeltCarrot I've more or less given up on using Mumsnet's own search function. It's actually more effective to google something like, "TV ad Robinson's mumsnet" and get sent back. You just have to watch out for a likely date of the thread.

As for the ad itself, it wasn't great but then I can't think of a TV commercial I've really liked since the Samsung Rocket Man Ostrich. Even so, it wouldn't have made me buy the product and in retrospect it was quite upsetting really.

I don't think you have a clue just how serious and widespread this issue is, and the effect it is having on society.

It aggravates the life out of me! I was talking about it to my friend, who said that would never have happened when her kids were younger. There would have been consequences at home for whatever wrong they'd committed at school! Especially if the headmaster had been involved! Not a glass of squash and a bloody good laugh. I find it really disrespectful and just shows children they can do what they want with no fear of any kind of punishment. What sort of message is that? Robinsons have got that one totally wrong. I'm with you OP. Advert or not, these messages get through.
