How Often Do You Have A Full English?

The last time I had one was in April when we stayed in a Holiday Inn & it was delicious. It’s been years & years since I made Full English at home. I sometimes have bacon, egg & toast.

I only ever make a full English at home once a year, on New Year's Day. It's our tradition to cook a big fry up on the first morning of the year.

I occasionally order one out in a cafe. Maybe every few months so 3 or 4 times a year.

DappledThings · 30/06/2025 08:02

Never at home. Sometimes in a hotel although even then I would pick and choose elements of it.

Last hotel I stayed in had no mushrooms or tomatoes on the buffet which I though was poor.

CoastalCalm · 30/06/2025 08:03

Maybe every six weeks - and then it’s usually for an evening meal unlesss we are on holiday

dogcatkitten · 30/06/2025 08:04

Usually sometime over a Bank Holiday weekend, become a bit of a tradition. As a brunch.

Tasktalkmonkey · 30/06/2025 08:06

Couple of times a month (more as either a brunch or evening meal).

Wolfpinkola · 30/06/2025 08:07

when i stay at a premier inn !!
the best

itsgettingweird · 30/06/2025 08:09

When I stay at hotels.

Which is about 2-3 times a year (at least 2!) because DS competes nationally.

I love having one but I can’t do it all 5-7 days we are away so have full one about twice and other days just have egg on toast or something similar. Always cooked though and saves me a fortune on the need to buy lunch!

MsPug · 30/06/2025 08:09

Every day on holiday! Keeps me going nicely until late afternoon pina colada and tapas

PepsiForEva · 30/06/2025 08:09

Also when I stay at a Premier inn which is circa twice a year.

But we have a local greasy spoon cafe that has been in situ for 30 years and is now in trouble due to COL etc. So much so that one of their waitresses started a gofundme to try and get them though the first quarter of the year. We started going there every second weekend because it would be a real shame if they closed down. So this year probably about 8 times.

Toomanynotes · 30/06/2025 08:09

Three times a day if i could (but I'd be dead).

RabbitsRock · 30/06/2025 08:27

What’s in yours? I don’t like black pudding & not sure if I have even tried hogs pudding but my ideal FE would be the following:-
Local butcher’s sausages
Unsmoked local bacon
Fried eggs (no frilly whites!)
Mushrooms
Grilled/fried tomatoes not tinned
Baked beans in a ramekin
Fried bread
Wholemeal toast, preferably granary
Hash browns if I’m super hungry
HP sauce & black pepper
Big mug of tea

My DH has grilled bacon, eggs, mushrooms and baked beans every morning as he’s on Slimming World and eats tons of protein and veg.

shellyleppard · 30/06/2025 08:31

Usually if I'm staying somewhere or in a cafe on a day out. I always feel too full if I do one at home

McCartneyOnTheHeath · 30/06/2025 08:33

Never. If that was all that was on offer I would have either bacon, eggs or sausages and some toast. Not everything together. Beans and mushrooms at breakfast time, gads!

echt · 30/06/2025 08:36

I have my version of the full English every Sunday - it's my cooked breakfast for the week. Porridge, however microwaved, doesn't count as cooked in my book.

Toast
Poached eggs
Tomatoes
Black pudding
Sometimes fried mushrooms

This is a vision..

Blimeyblighty · 30/06/2025 08:40

Not sure ours would count as a totally full English…? But Sat and Sun we have

eggs
bacon
sausage
black pudding
tomatoes
mushrooms

Fearfulsaints · 30/06/2025 08:43

About once a month.

If we go out for a family meal it tends to be breakfast as its the cheapest as quite a few hotels let the kids eat free or even full price is less than a burger in most pubs.

But my husband also cooks a great breakfast.

hairyunicorn · 30/06/2025 08:43

We have breakfast delivered every Monday at work. Today I have ordered a full English breakfast for 25 people. Cause of the nice weather so for only 6 people have turned up at the office.

Looks like I will be eating all this food alone 😅

LlynTegid · 30/06/2025 08:45

I'm not sure I have had one this century.

JustAnInchident · 30/06/2025 08:46

Maybe five or six times a year. My MIL will do one on a Sunday morning here and there for our little family (me, DH and our two kids) plus one of my BILs, always in the winter when my husband and FIL are working shorter hours. Otherwise I might randomly wake up and decide to be nice to my husband maybe once a winter 😂

Lifestooshort71 · 30/06/2025 08:47

I never cook bacon at home as it's too smelly and spatters grease. We take grandson out to a greasy spoon when he stays and I have poached eggs on toast and OH and GS have bacon 'extra crispy please', sausages, hash browns and easy-over eggs or scrambled, both have toast and OH has beans. He gives me the crispy/fatty ends of his bacon which is enough for me.

330ml · 30/06/2025 08:48

Rarely, if ever. I cook one at the weekend for my husband if I’m in but I don’t eat a full one myself. Is there such a thing as a part English?

If I cook, nearly every week in winter. If someone else made it I'd have one every morning like my grandparents.

Mingenious · 30/06/2025 08:50

Twice a year probably. Always avoid black pudding and the tomatoes. Prefer bacon to sausages.
