How Often Do You Have A Full English?

The last time I had one was in April when we stayed in a Holiday Inn & it was delicious. It’s been years & years since I made Full English at home. I sometimes have bacon, egg & toast.

I like them and don't have them often enough.

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 30/06/2025 16:27

A garden centre near us does a lovely cooked breakfast and I sometimes have that on a Saturday morning if I'm particularly peckish.

Premier Inn maybe 2-3 times a year (has to be done).

Sometimes we have a massive fry-up for Saturday tea - but not if I went to the garden centre in the morning, obviously!

On average, it is probably around once every 4-6 weeks.

Bootlips · 30/06/2025 16:31

Only when away or v occasionally I meet friends for a posh FE:
Bacon
Poached eggs
Toast
Sausages
Hashbrowns
Ketchup
Huge mug of tea

Comedycook · 30/06/2025 16:33

I make them once or twice a week at the weekend for DH... sausages, bacon, hash browns, mushrooms, egg, beans, tomato. I don't eat them though...I'd love to but am dieting

Hatty65 · 30/06/2025 16:36

If staying at a Premier Inn. DH on the other hand cooks himself one every morning! It generally also includes black pudding and hash browns, as well as bacon, egg and beans. I usually have porridge.

JackieWilsonsaiditstimeforbedlittleone · 30/06/2025 16:38

Never! Not a fan. I prefer fruit and yogurt or an omelette if I eat breakfast. Usually just have multiple cups of black coffee

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/06/2025 16:41

About once a month. Although the one before last was a Full Scottish with fried haggis, square sausage and tattie scones added, and Mothers Pride plain bread to mop the plate with

strawlight · 30/06/2025 16:43

Occasionally for breakfast after a big boozy event like a wedding or late night party, but we are quite partial to a Full English on a Sunday teatime.

Gliblet · 30/06/2025 16:45

Maybe a couple of times a year? It's DS's go-ro request for a birthday treat, and I might have one if I'm away and hoping to get away with an all-inclusive breakfast and no or very light lunch!

Bacon (crisp but not burned)
Sausages
Fried or poached eggs
Mushrooms
Fried bread or sourdough toast
Black pudding
Grilled tomatoes
Big mug of tea

mindutopia · 30/06/2025 17:15

I honestly could not tell you. Last had a cooked breakfast out 2 years ago (Dh and I stayed over in a nice hotel, but I had eggs benedict). The last full english I consciously remember was after a friend’s wedding (it was shit, the breakfast, not the wedding). They have 2 dc now, one who is starting school this year, so that must have been at least 7 years ago. It’s not something I’d ever cook for myself at home.

HarrietBond · 30/06/2025 17:18

I’ve remembered. My birthday last autumn, at a v posh hotel. It was fabulous.

rickyrickygrimes · 30/06/2025 17:21

Twice a year when we get the ferry from Europe to the UK. Buffet breakfast, eat as much as you want. It’s great but the quality isn’t quite what I hope for and there’s no haggis 😭.

BigDahliaFan · 30/06/2025 17:26

on holiday in the UK. But not every day if we were away for a week. We have scrambled eggs most mornings at home. At weekends will about once a month have air fryer mushrooms, bacon, black pudding, tomatoes and beans. Had no Heinz in last time so made a sort of quick beans in tomato and veg sauce with chilli and parsley. Best bit of the breakfast to be honest, will make again!

JohnTheRevelator · 30/06/2025 17:30

Only when I stay in a hotel. Premier Inn ones are fantastic. I especially like them because they do veggie sausages. I'm not a vegetarian but I just don't like pork sausages.

NotAnotherHeatwave · 30/06/2025 17:37

Since when did hash browns get added to a full English? 🤔

I have wondered the same thing. A full American, maybe, but not a full English.

When caffs stopped offering fried bread?

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 30/06/2025 18:13

Rarely these days since DD has become veggie and I don't like the vegan alternatives. I'll have one if I'm on holiday and in a B&B, or at a caff, but I never cook one for myself.

Eldermileniummam · 30/06/2025 18:15

I don't think I ever make a full English at home. In terms of cooked breakfasts I might have bacon or sausage and egg or avocado and egg on toast but it's rare I'd have a full English.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/06/2025 18:15

Once every few months, normally as a brunch if we know we’ll be going out and not eating again until the evening.

LoughboroughBex · 30/06/2025 18:16

Every six weeks while my dog is at his groomers appointment

BotterMon · 30/06/2025 18:20

Never. Who needs that amount of fat and grease in the morning? I don't eat breakfast bar some fresh fruit and yoghurt when in a hotel on holiday. (not British born and bred)

Words · 30/06/2025 18:24

I sometmes have grilled bacon and poached egg.

Re the full monty, very rarely

What’s in yours? I don’t like black pudding & not sure if I have even tried hogs pudding but my ideal FE would be the following:-
Local butcher’s sausages
Unsmoked local bacon
Fried eggs (no frilly whites!)
Mushrooms
Grilled/fried tomatoes not tinned
Baked beans in a ramekin
Fried bread
Wholemeal toast, preferably granary
Hash browns if I’m super hungry
HP sauce & black pepper
Big mug of tea

I would have poached eggs, no Baked beans or hash browns and coffee rather than tea. Otherwise total thumbs up especially re unsmoked back bacon local sausages and fried bread.
