Happy Flying Ant Day

It's hot and muggy and DD3 wants to go in her paddling pool but the garden is swarming and I've locked us inside like it's 28 days later.

We are out of and powder and are down to less than half a bottle of spray.

Thoughts and prayers

Had some here too a bit earlier, south coast, I was sitting outside and noticed them flying around. Usually I know they are about due to the number of seagulls above but no sign of them.

That wld be funny! Or we could even be friends 😂
I'm in Locks Heath....

I’m the main town - so literally just down the road!!!!

It really was horrendous when it started but I just nipped to Aldi in town and it’s a little calmer.

Ahh waving from the Heath at you 🖐

FurForksSake · 29/06/2025 15:47

Here too, literally outside with none and then looked at the terrace to see tonnes 30 minutes later!

minipie · 29/06/2025 15:52

SW London flying ant day here. Whole bunch of dead ones strewn across the terrace. They must have hatched in the flowerbeds or lawn so not very bright of them to head to the paved Sahara.

Vodkaandlemonade · 29/06/2025 15:57

North Wales border and they have been swarming this afternoon.

WibbleyPie · 29/06/2025 15:58

North East coast area and we've had the buggers this morning but they've calmed down a bit now thankfully, my front door was absolutely covered. Bloody things crawling all over everyone and everything.

FloofyBird · 29/06/2025 15:59

We popped out and there were loads in the next town along but none where we are.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2025 15:59

NW coast here and no flying ants. Fucking millions of thunder flies though. 😩

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 29/06/2025 16:00

Oh I wondered! We've only had a couple (Surrey).

Magenta82 · 29/06/2025 16:04

We are out in the garden and DD is happily fishing the dead ones out of the paddling pool with a sieve.

I got bitten by loads of the fuckers in east London today while sunbathing

IHateEmptyPockets · 29/06/2025 16:18

Kent here - spotted one two days ago but that’s it. It did look a bit like that awkward moment when you turn up too early for a party (or orgy I suppose)

I've sent them your way 😆

CrickityCrickets · 29/06/2025 17:23

I have a whole nest of flying ants which have just appeared IN MY KITCHEN

HonoriaBulstrode · 29/06/2025 17:32

Isn't it a bit early? I always expect FAD about the second week in July. Maybe it's the hot weather.

I remember a while back some scientist denying there was any such thing as flying ant day.

The only answer is to burn the house down and move.

Yep. My autistic son completely freaked out when he had about 4 of them crawling in his hair - I don't blame him, they are bloody horrible things...

Dfg15 · 29/06/2025 17:44

Between Hertford Town and Welwyn Garden City and we've had them here. I had to come inside, can't stand the buggers.

poppym12 · 29/06/2025 18:00

I haven't seen any at all (Somerset coast). Thanks for the tip off about the seagulls feasting in them - I'll notice them before any ants I think!!

SunsetCocktails · 29/06/2025 18:17

Swarming here in the Midlands since this afternoon. I hate them too so am also locked inside like it’s 28 Days Later. My cats, on the other hand, are happily chasing them outside and probably won’t want any tea…

shellyleppard · 29/06/2025 18:18

Nothing in my part of the east midlands..... please don't send them here though
