if you are absolutist about this -

do you only entertain in loungewear? Have you nevwr had a dinner or a party at which people dressed up a bit, including shoes?

or do you expect people to wear frock, tights and bare feet?

That's a whole other thread we have had many times. For the simple reason it doesn't occur to me to do so. I'm not consciously refusing, I just don't think about it. Unless I've come in from doing something specific like gardening or emptying the bins.

I'm aware I probably wash my hands too much (ever since an occasion in childhood that I got something disgusting on my hands and had to wash my hands so many times to get the smell off and it became an obsession after that) but even so, I think washing hands after coming in from inside is just sensible, that's why they train the children to do so in nursery in my country.
