Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, with the window flung open while the cats are upstairs. The washer's on already for the towels & the first load will be done shortly to go out in the wind.

Dd2's awake, although still in bed. She'll probably come down for breakfast shortly then head back up to do Sunday's bedroom tidy & carry on revising for her Chemistry and Spanish mock GCSE's.

Dd1 was out out last night, got in at 2:30am. I sent her to bed about half an hour later after several LOUD trips to the bathroom and downstairs. I think she was up at some point to be sick so not expecting to see her for hours yet, although she did say she'd be up for a walk to Lidl this morning - we'll see!

The only thing really planned for the day is the walk to Lidl for fruit for my breakfasts during the week - considering frozen raspberries though, they never seem to last no matter where they're from.

I'll do some painting, laminating, and finish taking up a pair of trousers too. Goodness knows why, but I only altered one leg & I want to wear them this week 🙈. I might play with my new pyrography tool too - or at least watch some "how to" videos as the instructions are rubbish!

I'm roasting a chicken for tea tonight. We'll have it with wraps and salad I think, maybe some baby roast potatoes.

Dd1 is AWAKE! Earlier than a normal day 🤣.

Anyway...after tea it's our usual Sunday early showers, although the girls are off tomorrow. Mine will be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, followed by moisturiser, tan, toe nails painted, and new press ons on my fingernails. Then an hour with my book or a cookbook - not sure which yet. I have a nice marshmallow & meringue one I haven't looked at yet 🤔.

What about you lot? 🙂

I'm off to play squash this morning.. ladies coaching session then a few games; I took it up 3 months ago and am loving it, although my middle aged body complains!
After that I'll pop to my allotment and pick some courgettes, which are going nuts, so I'm taking about 20 to the community food bank tomorrow. I also have a ton of shallots that have been curing and need to get them into some pickling vinegar today.
I'll walk the dog in the woods this afternoon, and might make a cheesecake later.
I have no ideas for sunday dinner so need to think of something (cheesecake and pickled onions!?)
DH is kayak coaching all day.
DS2 is currently walking the dog and then will do absolutely nothing... he works long shifts and sunday is his chill day.

largeknitter · 22/06/2025 09:06

Usual morning walk then going out to a local brewery (up In the hills with lovely views) for lunch and a few drinks. So glad it’s cooled down today, that little breeze feels lovely 🥰

upandleftthenright · 22/06/2025 09:09

Off to the gym then to see 28 Years later. Not my choice of film but outvoted 🧟‍♀️

Lazy morning with coffee at the minute.

we then need to go to the tack shop for fly spray and then over to the yard to ride our pony. I’ve got to take a needle and thread as pony has a hole in her fly mask. After farm jobs we will go and see my partner for the afternoon followed by food shop.

Not sure what’s for tea but chicken wraps sounds tempting!

Back to school for the small one tomorrow so he gets his weekly deep clean which included nails and a disclosing tablet for his teeth.

Purplepeoniesdroppingpetals · 22/06/2025 09:13

Morning all, house is just stirring as I think everyone struggled last night. Lazy morning probably, but it’s a sad anniversary for us today so I think we’ll probably be out for a walk later, somewhere peaceful. Wishing you all well.

Cleanthatup · 22/06/2025 09:17

Morning all, I am currently on the sofa, tea in my favourite mug, watching the news and trying to figure out the whole America/Iran situation now that I have the facts. After this I’ll hopefully forget about the whole thing and get on with my Sunday.

Church starts at 11am so I’ll get ready for that soon, I’ll wear a new pink floaty dress that I bought last year and then never wore. home for about 12:30 and by that’s time DH and 2 teens will be awake after all 3 of them worked the night shift last night.

Then, I’ll spend some time sorting out the laundry, ironing, then make a nice light dinner for us all and hopefully chill on the sofa for the evening with lots of tea and a good book.

I do like Sundays.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 22/06/2025 09:22

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Oh to have a teenagers liver!
Yesterday was quiet. I got washings done and hung out. Which is just as well as today it's raining. I've had two coffees and a cuppa with a slice of toast. That's my usual start- very boring. I've got dressed and made my bed. Shortly I'll tidy up the few dishes in the kitchen. I have no plans as I had a really bad night's sleep so I'll probably nap later. I've discovered some bites - the hazard of sleeping on top of the covers! Have a good day all

ssd · 22/06/2025 09:31

Morning @lucysmam and everyone here.
Haven't any plans today but am in the grip of health anxiety which i absolutely hate and ruins the day for me, prodding and poking and catastrophising. I bloody hate it.
And i Haven't much to take my mind off it.
Hope you all have a better day.

RabbitsRock · 22/06/2025 09:31

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Absolutely with you on raspberries lucysmam! Do love them though. I discovered that they’re delicious with warm weetabix & honey as long as you don’t make the mistake of heating up the raspberries too! DH & I are both tired as we ended up in paediatric A & E with DD16 at midnight & didn’t get home til 4 am. She’s been kept in overnight & we’re going over later. Such a worry 😥
Just finished a cuppa made by me & will get dressed in a min. DH is in the shower. I put a mini load on when the kettle was boiling. Need to hoover up all the rabbit poo in the kitchen & lounge. Dishwasher to be unloaded/loaded & there’s a bit of handwashing including enamel baking trays which I might squirt with Fairy power spray. Rabbits need cleaning out. I hadn’t planned anything for tea so we might have beans on toast or I’ll make scrambled egg for me if I fancy it. Not always in the mood. Will try again later to retrieve my E Mail account. Major pain in the arse!!

DilemmaDelilah · 22/06/2025 09:35

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I wish we could grow veggies @Sonolanona but we have a very steep terraced garden surrounded by trees and it gets very little sun. I'm not sure about cheesecake and pickled onions though... Is that a pickled onion cheesecake... Or would you just be serving the pickled onions with the cheesecake?

I was up and in the shower by 9am - having woken at 4.15 and then gone back to sleep again. The forecast is overcast with showers, so no pillow washing today. I have another wash in already, and I'm going to change my bedsheets today so I will probably do another wash.

Other than that... I have no plans for today. I will ask Mr Dilemma what he would like to do in a minute. I have a feeling that going to IKEA for cheese may be suggested, but it would be better to do that during the week. It would be nice to get out though.

Little cat's trip to the vet yesterday cost us £110, but the vet said she was as well as we can expect at her age. He's just sold us a bottle of metacam which will last about 3 months, so hopefully we can expect her to last that long!

Mr Dilemma took some of my home cooked savoury pork and vegetable mince out of the freezer yesterday for us to have for our evening meal today. It is packed so full of veggies that I won't need to serve any separately, except for some potatoes. I like boiled potatoes with it best, but I know Mr Dilemma really likes it done as a hotpot with sliced potatoes on top and he's been so helpful and nice this week that I think I will do it that way for him.

I have an appointment with the diabetic nurse on Monday, hopefully going to start on Mounjaro - for the diabetes before anyone gets up in arms about it. Although I confess that losing weight would be a HUGE benefit!

Haircut on Tuesday - just a trim. Those are the only 'must do's' for next week.

ViciousCurrentBun · 22/06/2025 09:35

Making arrangements to go away. The stars have aligned as our plans have been thwarted by sadly a cancer diagnosis for MIL, a death in the family of a friend, our DS and his GF booking their holiday and taking ages, another friends holiday plans, DH getting some consultancy work that was too good to turn down, my friend having an operation.

I slept so badly due to the heat last night I will probably have a nap.

lucysmam · 22/06/2025 09:47

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand yep...she's had breakfast & now gone for a shower (chugging a massive Stanley type cup of water as she goes). When the bathroom's free, I'll get dressed at a leisurely pace.

@RabbitsRock what a worry! Is dd ok?

@DilemmaDelilah pillow washing is a good shout! I'll add that to this week's list. Mr Dilemma's hotpot does sound tasty! As does cheese...

@ViciousCurrentBun I hope you manage to get away - sounds like a break would be good for you.

Morning all, currently on the settee watching golf having just finished a cup of tea. Husband still in bed, he's very tired after lots of late nights haymaking. DS stayed at his GFs last night, she goes on holiday this week so he's spending the day with her today.
Nothing much planned, picking up the food shop later (click and collect), might go to the garden centre to buy hanging baskets. I'm putting them up a bit later than usual this year so they last longer into September hopefully! I also might play golf myself later, not sure, DS had a junior team match yesterday and I walked a lot in the heat so feeling a bit tired. DH is off haymaking again later so it may just be me for dinner which is nice and easy!

Rainbow1235 · 22/06/2025 09:53

Morning to u all I’m just having my first cuppa and beef in oven as they all here for dinner today . Be lovely and manic 😂. Very wet here in south wales but lovely and cool . Rabbits Rock hope your daughter feels beta soon and Lucy’smam hope your daughter dosnt suffer too much today . Have a good and safe day all 🫶

DilemmaDelilah · 22/06/2025 10:02

@Popfan We live on the edge of the city, but we can definitely hear all the heavy machinery of the haymaking going on at the top of the hill behind us! The other night they were still going at 10pm and I heard them at 9am this morning. I was a bit surprised as we have had some rain.

My parents used to live next to a farm in the proper countryside so I know we've got off lightly noise-wise! 10pm is nothing!

Hoppinggreen · 22/06/2025 10:03

I was up very early, just couldn't sleep but I sat outside with a coffee and listened to the birds so it was ok.
I am now waiting for DD (home from Uni) to get ready and we are going holiday/underwear shopping and to have lunch.
We will bring stuff back to make pizzas as DH says he wants to fire up the outside pizza oven later
DS16 may get up at some point

FayKnights · 22/06/2025 10:06

Morning Lucysmam and the Sunday gang

@lucysmam dirolyte is your DDs hangover friend! Hope she feels better soon.

@UpUpUpU I remember those disclosing tablets from when my boys were young, they loved turning their mouths a weird colour, blue I think.

All peaceful here, I’m in the garden with my first cuppa and the dogs. I have no plans today, so having a think about what my Sunday will look like. We have 3 busy weekend coming up, so enjoying the slower pace of life.

Enjoy your Sunday all!

Popfan · 22/06/2025 10:09

@DilemmaDelilah I think all the farmers are going flat out! Apparently it's a bad year for hay due to the lack of rain so hay is likely to be more expensive.

RabbitsRock · 22/06/2025 10:56

Thank you lucysmam - she will be. Trying to sort some long term help. With a lot of her issues, she hasn’t been taken seriously enough up to now 😢

Thislittlekitten · 22/06/2025 11:08

Morning all

Im sat in a kids play zone. Family birthday. Mine are older now so not been to one of these in ages. Don’t miss it 😂

Family party afterwards.

Once we are home it’s the usual uniforms and lunches to sort.

House really needs a deep clean. Things have been frantic. I will tackle one area tonight. We are away next week and I’d love the house to be tidy for leaving.

DH is making a chicken salad tonight. I’m looking forward to that.

StJulian2023 · 22/06/2025 11:09

I have a carrot cake in the oven because it was requested by my dad who is 84 today 🎉 but I am
a bit worried because I can smell the oil. I never make carrot cake or bake with oil. Hopefully it’ll turn out okay. I’m a good baker, just lack carrot cake experience! He had a lovely apple and cinnamon one for Father’s Day last Sunday, much more my comfort zone.

DS has popped to church to see his youth group friends. DD is currently eating the most enormous bowl of granola, yoghurt, peanut butter, honey and berries. She has grown 4cm in 4 months so I think she needs it!

Now the cake’s in the oven I’m going to do a bit more decluttering as estate agents are coming to value house Thurs and Fri.

We’ve had a few very stressful days here due to post-GCSEs out of routine DS (ADHD/ASD) so really hoping today is a bit calmer, but no guarantees. Hopefully being a bit cooler will help but the thought of another unstructured week ahead won’t…packing him off to work on a friend’s farm for a week in a week. He’ll love that.

OchreSwan · 22/06/2025 11:36

Good morning @lucysmam and all (just!).

A quiet and quite lazy morning here as we were out sailing with friends all day yesterday and didn’t get back until very late. DP’s working today so is upstairs in the office, and I’ve just been pottering around doing very little - I have managed to clean the kitchen up a bit though.

I’m off for a much-needed haircut this afternoon, and will come back via the supermarket to get in some food for the week. DP has requested sticky tofu for dinner so I’ll do that with some spring rolls. Then early to bed for both us of us I think!

frozendaisy · 22/06/2025 11:36

morning all

having a lazy Sunday morning
then local walk with a bunch of deliveries

cold drink in local on way home

pork belly and salads later

ready for a bit of an unusual week ahead! (Not Glastonbury unfortunately)

familyissues12345 · 22/06/2025 11:45

Fairly relaxed day as none of us slept too well 🥵, and I’ve woken up with horrendous hayfever. We’re off for a pub lunch soon, so hoping my tablets kick in, then a quiet afternoon

Marylou62 · 22/06/2025 11:49

I'm visiting my 7 week old grandson...

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?
