I remember an old thread where a group of friends basically denied themselves treats on holidays and days out for years because one couple in the group were supposedly hard up and they didn’t want the other couple to struggle. It turned out that they actually had saved a substantial amount to put their son through Uni . I wonder what happened next as the OP and friends were absolutely outraged and were going to confront hard up couple, but the thread had reached maximum posts so never knew what happened next . What is the thread that you remember and would love an update on ?

I think of chickencuddleall lot.

There was a heartbreaking thread about ten years ago, where the poster’s 5 year old daughter disclosed that her dad (who the poster was separated from) had been abusing her. The poster was incredible at supporting her DD and did everything she could - social services and police - but the police eventually decided not to prosecute due to “lack of evidence”. She posted throughout the investigation process and understandably devastated with the police’s decision. Her daughter would be a teenager now and I sometimes wonder how they are.

You know there's a reason people get their previous threads deleted and try to be more covert in subsequent threads?

The op was anything but covert.

SeaGreenSeaGlass · 22/06/2025 10:48

@penmanship are you sure the poster has a daughter? What you've posted sounds very much like another situation back in 2015, but it was a son who reported his dad was touching him inappropriately, and the mum had a difficult time with the dad's legal team etc. The dad would claim he wanted to see the child but armed to just want to punish the mum. The poster (first initial B) went to b the private area to continue posting and received a lot of support from posters TW, MA etc.

The op was anything but covert.

Which is why once she became concerned about being identified she had the previous threads deleted and has now stopped posting altogether.

Thankfully linking threads have now been deleted.

penmanship · 22/06/2025 11:14

@SeaGreenSeaGlass yes, definitely a daughter, it was around the time my own daughters were born, so it would have been 2016 (so not quite 10 years). I remember being so horrified by it. Awful that there’s similar stories.

Another one who was hugely invested in the allotment squatter / house sale. The allotment squatter’s allotment neighbour kept glaring at OP’s DH over the fence. It was springtime and there was a lot of chat about uprooting plants, moving sheds etc. Possibly someone was called Babs? There was a side drama about a garage?

Not quite the same but for years there was a poster on here called BigChocFrenzy who led the 5:2/Intermittent Fasting boards. Predating Michael Mosley iirc! Hugely knowledgeable and just lovely. Lived in Germany, described her lovely riverside walks. She left MN after, I think, some sort of issue on the FWB board. I often think of her and wonder how she is doing.

She didn't predate Michael M. The 5:2 threads started in 2012 after his documentary, I was on the original. Lost a ton of weight and never looked back, still do intermittent fasting 😀

Merrilydancing · 22/06/2025 15:19

@SeaGreenSeaGlass thats the one I always remember and hope that she finally got her son away from the dad.

I'm the old TrickyTreeLou, only very occasionally post these days as life is settled and thankfully drama free. 🙂
DS is in his room playing roblox with his friends. He's 12 now, has settled really well into yr7. He's a clever, sensible, caring boy. In 2 weeks I'm going to an awards evening for those who have had an 'exceptional year 7' because he is going to receive an award. 😊
ChutneyWanker never seen him, never been in touch, this is of course very sad, but probably for the best too,...
I'm still single but that's ok, DS has come first always, and I'm actually quite happy that way! 😁 We now share our home with a fabulous tabby called Fred.

fantastic to "see" you again 🎉 So pleased that you and OUR boy are doing well - and of course that you are still owned by a cat x

Not that long ago. There was a poster who was distraught because doctors were ignoring some really worrying symptoms in her son. Son ended up in hospital and it turned out he had a brain tumour. She said the doctor looked at her in a way she never wanted anyone to look at her again. I think about her often. I so hope her son had his op, recovered and is OK.

Her handle was yourrubymaker. Her sons turnout was benign but obviously he has a long road back to normality.

Waffletots, just last December. A few weeks before she was due to give birth she discovered her husband had been having an affair. She ended their marriage and threw him out, he was only concerned about himself and didn't even ask about their children. She was amazingly strong through the whole thing. I hope her and her children are doing ok.

Sneaky! Typical ironing board behaviour.

That was a troll

Really?! Where did you see that? I felt so sorry for her, it was before the tide started to swing and so it was all too believable.

Seiheiki · 22/06/2025 23:03

David and Caroline. The amount of us he propositioned whilst his wife was dying was horrific.

I want to know if the poster ever found out what really happened with her dyson airwrap and whether she received a replacement.

The girl came to her house and gave it back.

Does anyone have a link for Somerville and the link posted for lobster boy isn’t the initial one @ChopinandChampagne had posted.

So I found the @chopinandchampagne first thread. Spent the weekend reading it. It’s been so sad to read it. I’ve started reading he 2nd one she posted about her daughter buying in Ireland. I do hope her DD1 has come to her senses about LB. There was something about the retirement home. Did the op give her retirement home to dd1 and LB?

I found an obviously later one but not the first or second, can you link them please?

The one where the (calm and rational) OP had a fair and growing suspicion that her DP was gaslighting her - stuff going missing, objects moved. She just wasn’t sure on what his endgame was.

The ‘endless winter’ OP with the vicious ex who was intent on making her life a misery and turning her family against her despite the fact he’d left her for a much younger woman in a very callous manner. He seemed to be trying to destroy her. Some people thought it was fiction, I seem to remember.

I got very invested in that one but did wonder when the OP just disappeared if it was all made up. Sadly.
