Murder 24/7

I watched this last night on iPlayer, anyone else seen it? They showed the police investigation of a murder of a DPD driver.

I just need to discuss it with someone as I found it shocking! Everything from the location, the volume of injuries/people involved, how the victim was tracked. They described the victim as being decapitated, just the fact that level of violence happened in the middle of Shropshire is mind blowing. I just can’t imagine how harrowing the must have been for the victim, the witnesses, the family. Even for the officers and the jury involved. The defendants lied and lied throughout.

Oh noes. He was ambushed by his mother in law who was in her 70s whilst he was haplessly defending himself

Toddlerteaplease · 23/06/2025 21:39

Forensic evidence will prove his story wrong, I have no doubt.

Did we hear him ask about his children? Not for some time, long behind the self-justification. Dont believe him, expect they will prove it.

I have watched it and couldn’t stop crying thinking about poor Aurman and how he must have suffered. It was horrific. Those young men, what the hell goes wrong to lead to such violence?

I thought the chief investigating police officer was amazing though. So dedicated and determined to bring them to justice.

The third episode and the story of Ivan Potter was absolutely beyond heartbreaking too

ThatsNotMyTeen · 23/06/2025 23:05

Re the other driver - I just assumed he was very quickly eliminated from enquiries and probably didn’t want to be in the programme

Good point.
His body language, facial expressions and tone of voice upon hearing the mother in law was definitely dead in the interview was quite something.. rewind and watch again.. his brain almost had a malfunction trying to both hide his relief and joy but express fake sadness at the same time. That's because the mother in law was the only direct 3rd party witness in what he could have maybe argued was a he said / she said self defense case ...

He forgot about the kids however .. I wonder what would of happened if the police hadn't have been called so soon ?

@TeenagersAngst to be honest having worked in public sector, that doesn’t surprise me.

What does surprise me is such a massive group of them ended up in that gang lifestyle as newcomers to the country. At what point did they get those dodgy tattoos? Have they committed previous offences? Seems unusual to go from zero to using an axe to kill someone.

Very good question.
I would love to see a followup documentary about the actual root cause of the DPD murder.
Some questions it might answer:

  • Why were young Asian males fighting each other at the Kabaddi event ?
OCG type thing or family feud / gang type thing ?
  • Was the DPD victim actually involved in this Kabaddi violence; Was he the man in the DPD hat shown in the social media video ironically hacking away at a defenceless person on the ground ?
  • Where did they all come from ?
Why did they come here and for what purpose ? Maybe. They had high hopes but were seduced by the dark side ?
Weepixie · 24/06/2025 03:34

There’s another shocking case from the same series now available on IPlayer.

And for anyone else who had questions about the 2nd DPD colleague:

He gave evidence at the first trial. It answers a lot of questions. You can find it here (read from bottom to top):

www.birminghammail.co.uk/black-country/dpd-delivery-driver-murder-trial-28673430.amp

It’s an absolutely devastating and heartbreaking account. He’s really brave for giving evidence. Seems he gave evidence as a protected witness, which may be why he wasn’t on the documentary much.

Poor Aurman. The level of violence is just unfathomable. Hearing his last moments are just harrowing. I feel awful for him and his loved ones.

That lady was really brave, she thought her daughter was in danger and literally saved her.

That piece of shit man who was only ever going to admit to what the evidence showed. The audacity of him to say he tripped and the knife accidentally hit her when both were stabbed numerous times!

@JLacesfeetrichs agree completely! In the 1st trial (linked above), Aurman had been receiving threats from someone called “Thind”. No other motive/context explored.

In the 2nd trial (read here) one of the killers said they intended to threaten Aurman due to the Kabaddi violence. The gang’s friend had a broken leg, but there’s no confirmation Aurman was involved.

Then this article says:
It is not known exactly what role Aurman played in the trouble – if any - but he ended up paying for it with his life.
Derbyshire Police did not have him marked down as a suspect in any fighting but even so his killers are understood to have picked him out from footage, which was uploaded onto social media within hours.

That doorbell footage of Wendy coming round to her daughter's shown last night was awful. The screams within seconds of her letting herself in.

Brutal men like him must think everyone is as thick as they are. Even when he found out his partner had survived it was all about him.

The bit that got me was the policeman carrying one of the kids telling them to keep their eyes closed.

Lalgarh · 24/06/2025 09:25

forgot about the kids however .. I wonder what would of happened if the police hadn't have been called so soon ?

In the texts that were shown , his partner was arguing with him BC he wanted her to let the kids stay with him overnight and her to get out of the property. He was refusing to leave the house unless she bought out his share of the property after she'd had been attacked by him and she'd had enough and asked him to leave . I think we can guess what would have happened.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 24/06/2025 14:15

I don't think it's helpful to speculate here. He was already raging to stab Wendy the minute she walked through the door. Luckily Stacey's auntie had called the police.

This is a fantastic series and shows how devious criminals can be - especially DPD murderers and Damien. All cut from the same cloth.

The others did have grey areas which was reflected in the sentencing.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/06/2025 22:16

@Needtosoundoffandbreatheyes that bit really got me too. Can’t imagine how horrific it was for those poor children. I hope they are doing as best as they can in the circumstances.

Sidge · 24/06/2025 22:47

This is such a fascinating series. The police and forensics teams work so tirelessly to find the truth and get justice.

I thought Stacey was really brave. What could have happened doesn’t bear thinking about.

The newest case started at the end of tonight’s episode is shocking and horrifying. I mean they all are, but crikey this one looks hideous.

657904I · 25/06/2025 06:04

I wonder how this series gets produced, as the police force involved can’t anticipate what crimes come in or how the investigation may pan out.

Do they just have a full camera crew following staff responding to every murder, just in case the investigation is suitable for the show?

Must suck for the criminals involved - Damian for example put on a facade to people that know him, and the documentary completely exposed his true character.

Just goes to show how much at risk women are when they try to leave.

Quite possibly - it’s likely the same for other real life shows such as 24 hours in police custody on C4 and Forensics : The Real CSI series the bbc did a couple of years back.

Ive been watching this series I’ve the last few days and find such shows fascinating. People who wonder why there are such high levels of work related stress/sickness should consider the effects these cases have on the teams investigating them!

bloodredfeaturewall · 25/06/2025 11:43

such a fascinating, if harrowing, tv programme.

I was also wondering how it's made. do they take the usual cctv footage? or extra cameras? how is consent obtained?

radicaloptimist · 25/06/2025 11:55

Just watched one last night from season 2 about a man who attacked his parents with a hammer. I don’t think I can watch this show again for some of the reasons outlined above. It is however hugely impressive to see such intelligent and hardworking experts in the forensic and detective teams. We are really lucky to have people like them doing this kind of work to bring perpetrators to justice and hopefully provide some small consolation for victims’ families.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 25/06/2025 16:10

I watched season 2, episode 5 of this last night. Can not imagine how the police maintain professionalism with the lump of lard who expected folk to believe that he'd been attacked by the partner and MIL.

Couldn't work out what I thought of the bloke with the assault outside the pub - veered between some sympathy for him that something so catastrophic came from something relatively minor and just wondering why on earth men have to resort to their fists.

The case with the son and the mother/father attack is looking horrific.
