Passport Renewal Photo - oh my god I am SO ugly!!!!

Just done my renewal online and DH has taken my photo for the renewal. Bloody hell I didn't realise how ugly I am. It was honestly a massive shock. One side of my face looks so different to the other, one eye is slightly wider, one nostril is more open than the other and I look hideous.

It has honestly knocked me for six. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Whenever DH takes a pic of me I look especially horrendous, he has a great talent of taking the most god awful pics 🙃

I look weird. Not ugly or bad exactly, but odd. I always feel that I resemble an alien - pale skin, high forehead, deep set very blue eyes. If I've ever watched videos of alien encounters, I'm astounded how similar I look to the reports...

Me too. I'm going on holiday next week and have just had to look at my passport again, I look hideous. Just have to suck it up I guess.

Depending on the day, time and how you're feeling, photos will always reflect your true state...I took my passport pic. After the COVID days, I've never been uglier😂. Looking to update it as it was so bad and not how I look now 😊

A few years ago I hadn't realised my driving licence photo was out of date so panicked and ran to the post office to get pics done...in the rain...without an umbrella...so I've had 10 years of looking like a drowned rat.

Both my passport and driving license are up for renewal in the next couple of months but I won't be getting any photos done until after I've had my Botox and fillers topped up at the end of the month!! 🙈😂

@somuchrubbish you’re not alone. I feel exactly the same way about my current passport photo. I look so tired and old. In most photos I don’t look that bad and IRL I don’t look so awful.

Recently applied for a railcard online and that photo makes me look quite mad. I should have done it a day later when I’d made more of an effort but I wanted to get it done so I could use it there and then.

As PPs have said, it’s the looking straight ahead, not smiling that really get you.

I've just done mine, I'm 47, I can't believe how much worse I look 10 years on! But I don't think it even looks like me. We took loads, but none were great. I think it's the lack of smiling, as I'm generally a smiley person. My DP agreed it didn't look like me really. I've used it once, at the recent elections - the woman kept looking from my passport to me, I don't think she was convinced...that makes me feel good that I'm not that bad, but worried someone at passport control will actually think it's not my passport!

In 10 years time you’ll think it’s not too bad, I always have with my passport photos!
Im sure it’s to do with the light, how stressed you are etc. we always judge ourselves very harshly imo

Nobody looks good on a passport photo. I bet not many of you have had your passport passed around by border staff in a foreign country so they could laugh at the picture though. Not the nicest experience 😂

I have done it!!! Photo retaken and I actually got one that doesn't make me look like a saggy ball sack with eyes!!! 😅

My DD took it and its way better than DH's crap attempts (see, it was all his fault) 😂

My hair looks nice, the lighting and general angle is much improved, and thank you for the person who suggested 'smiling with my eyes'. It has made a big difference and I actually don't look too bad. Phew!
