Passport Renewal Photo - oh my god I am SO ugly!!!!

Just done my renewal online and DH has taken my photo for the renewal. Bloody hell I didn't realise how ugly I am. It was honestly a massive shock. One side of my face looks so different to the other, one eye is slightly wider, one nostril is more open than the other and I look hideous.

It has honestly knocked me for six. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I scrub up well, good enough to have done promotional work for bars & clubs back in the day. However, for reasons only known to God, I look like Myra Hindley on my passport photo.

And DD1 who is genuinely extremely pretty looks like she's on crystal meth in hers.

Honestly, isn't everyone? I had to get my super serious Real ID driver's license renewed in the US and I am surprised ICE didn't come and deport me instantly!

The lady at the post office gave me a second go to take a photo (She was taking it with an tablet thing) and then I admitted defeat. I look really odd in that photo. Ah well.

I once bumped into a friend outside a supermarket, when I had been in one of those machines to get my passport photos done.

We were chatting as the machine finished printing and I took the photos, as we walked back towards our cars I said to her 'ohh no, I've got someone else's pictures here' genuinely not recognising the person in the photos, she laughed at me and said 'don't be stupid, that's you, it's your face, it's just what you look like'

I didn't know if I should laugh or cry! (There was no malice or spite in what she said, we are still very close nearly 30 years later).

Needless to say, the next day I booked a hair cut and colour, got some contacts and did a full face of makeup before getting more photos!

When you get the next one you will look back at this one and realise you are stunning!
I am embarrassed every time I look at mine, I think it is the no smile thing.

I know an old lady of 90, who paid for a makeover before her passport photo was taken. She refused to admit she look so old. 😂

I think it's the law that you have to look awful in a passport photo 🤣

There used to be a sign in Luton Airport "if you look like your passport photo then you are too ill to travel"

It’s the same for everyone. I look like a very miserable, confused, intoxicated person, who has been having some kind of altercation with a hedge. I swear to god, I don’t look like that irl!

Passport pictures are the worse pictures in the world. And their system never accepts the ones that you’re happy with haha.

I am soooooo ugly in photos. To the extent where I don't want to go out when I have seen a recent photo of me because I cannot understand why people aren't grimacing at the sight of me.

I am just extremely unphotogenic.

That not nice, you’re not photogenic like many of us, it doesn’t mean you’re ugly.

I’ve stopped having photos, never been one for them anyway so it’s just my convict photos I have to bother with! ☺️

I did the curtain photo booth thing for mine 2 weeks ago. Surely there is no way on god's green earth that I actually look like that?

Same here. Partner told me to do it again 😂 I’m shocked how bad my dark circles are. Look like I’ve punched in the face repeatedly.

I feel your pain. I was quite attractive in a quirky sort of way when I was younger, but now I have a face like a melted welly.

You have all definitely made me feel better about my ugly photo but its been deleted, never to be seen again. Attempt number two coming up at the weekend and then if my DD can't get a half decent one then I will have to throw the towel in and accept my fate. 😆

I was very annoyed at my last passport photo.

The previous one, from 10 years ago, was very pale and unclear and to be honest could have been almost anyone. So on renewal, I just got a reasonable photo (or what passes for reasonable when you're middle-aged and you've had a rough night) and didn't think too much about it. And then when the passport came back it turns out the process has changed and the photo in the new passport is crystal clear and shows every wrinkle. AARGH.

I use a b/w photo for my passport.
Way more forgiving than colour!

Hahaha, I feel you, I was in the same situation a few weeks ago when I done mine. Even my husband looked at it and went ‘woah’ 😂 I look like a potato in a wig. If I didn’t need it to have gone on holiday last week I’d have claimed it lost and gone for a full makeover before retaking a new photo.

I was saddened that the passport control folks didn’t pull the same expression as my husband because that obviously means I am just a potato in a wig … I wish it was just bad lighting of the photobooth 😅
