Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. I've been awake on & off for hours after making sure dd1 was up to get sorted to travel to London for Lido festival. She's off to see Charli XCX & meeting a friend in London first as they're both travelling from/to different locations.

I've got the washer on already for uniform and work clothes, starting with dd2's shirts. Only one more year of washing them to go 🥳. The house is a bit of a shed so needs straightening up.

Dd2 wasn't fussed about doing anything today, so I'll check again when she gets up, then spend the day pottering and painting some more peg dolls if she definitely wants to stay home. I have quite the list of requests!

Should also think about starting to clear out and pack to move - we were served our notice yesterday so have the fun of finding somewhere else to rent now 🙄...maybe I'll start with a list & work from there.

I'm not sure what's for tea yet - something chickeny I think 🤔. I'll get it out to defrost, then decide. It can always become Sunday dinner instead!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good luck with the house hunting 🤞

I will be having a slow day. I had two teeth extracted and implants inserted on Thursday, I wasn’t prepared for the amount of swelling that there would be! So today will be spent mostly with an ice pack plastered to my face.

Need to pop a face mask on later and take my DS out to get a Father’s Day present and I need to get something for my Dad too. I was so nervous about having this dental work that Father’s Day ran away from me.

Have a lovely weekend everyone

Sorry about the notice being served @lucysmam that's shitty news. Moving is horrible. Good luck with the house hunting.

I am downstairs on the sofa while DW is asleep still with the dogs. This NEVER happens. She's always up and out early with them while I lay in, she's an early riser and never sleeps past 7. She's been travelling with work this week and had a massive project on, so I think she must be shattered. I feel very out of sorts though! This is very strange for me. Dying for a cuppa but don't want to risk the kettle waking her. I honestly think she's never slept past 8 for about 2 years, let alone ever past 9.

I'm off to get my nails done at 11, then this afternoon the foodbank I volunteer at are having a food drive at Asda, so I've signed up to do that this afternoon for 2 hours (and also tomorrow too). Really hoping for some good chats and raising awareness, rather than people constantly ignoring us!

Good morning lucysmam and the Saturday morning posters.

DD is back from her holidays in Spain and has the day off today. She usually works weekends. So we have a rare Saturday off together. I'm having a quiet cuppa while she sleeps. When she gets up, we're heading into town for breakfast. Then we'll do the grocery shopping together. I need to pick up a new kitchen tap 'cos the old one is dripping and I think it might need replacing. I also need to pick up chocolates for my Dad for tomorrow. DD has kindly offered to cook dinner - she makes the most amazing chicken fajitas. Which will free me up to do some cleaning around the house and laundry etc.

@lucysmam I'm so sorry to hear that you've been given notice. Hope DD1 enjoys the festival in London.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 14/06/2025 09:35

I need to attempt to clean as work is being done on Monday. Never seems to be finished 🙄

mamaduckbone · 14/06/2025 09:41

Good morning @lucysmam and all.
Sorry to hear about your house - good luck with the search.

I've just got back from my run, having a quick cup of tea and sit in the garden.

Ds15 and I are heading into London to see Pulp at the O2 tonight - I'm beyond excited as they were my absolute faves in the 90s, and Ds basically listens to all the same music I did 30 years ago. I last saw them for my 21st birthday at T in the Park in Glasgow, and I'm 50 this year!

Brunocatmon · 14/06/2025 09:42

Morning everyone.

@lucysmamsorry about your notice being served. I've been in my house 2 years now and I bought it off the landlord last november. I am not moving again for a very long time.

My 44 is 14 and I'll be surprised if she emerges from her room much today, she's in rehearsals for a school play and is exhausted at the end of the week.

Im on a diet so i have to find something high protein, low calorie for my dinner later.

@Dottydoodooeek to the face swelling, I hope it goes down soon and isn't too uncomfortable.

@PearlsPearli hope dw wakes up soon before you expire through dehydration, although obviously not before she's fully rested. Have fun at Asda, it must be a little disheartening when you get ignored all day.

I'm about to enjoy my first coffee in a totally quiet house.

Ds started a new job this week so won't show himself much before 11 i'd say.

Myself, I'm decorating and panelling my 2 x dd's bedrooms ready for when they return from living overseas next Friday. Less than a week now, im so excited.

Also trying to remember that I have eggs boiling, I've burnt 2 pans this week.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning, my son woke me at 7, had a cup of tea and explore round the house. Watched the rain and thunder and lightning, he loved it (he's 10 months). Put a wash on, now he's having a nap. Don't think we'll be venturing very far today! X

BethDuttonYeHaw · 14/06/2025 09:46

Sitting in my car in the pishing rain watching little girls play football

Firstshoes · 14/06/2025 09:47

Good luck finding a house 🏠 hopefully you'll find one with the perfect kitchen spot for your morning brew. 😊. I am packing today. Finished work yesterday and off to Gran Canaria on Monday so loads to do especially as I love to leave the house spotless. I'm procrastinating though with another coffee and Mumsnet. Both dds are now young adults but still love coming with us. DD1 needs a couple more outfits so I said I'd pop to the shops with her later. Sausage casserole for tea. .... really looking forward to a break from cooking! Have a lovely day everyone ❤️

JustAnInchident · 14/06/2025 09:52

Sorry to hear about your home, hope the search for a new place goes well.

Slow start this morning. It’s pouring with rain so my husband’s actually here which is v strange as he’s had one day off in five weeks, combined with v long days, I’d nearly forgotten what he looks like! My three year old is over the moon, he misses DH so much when he’s not here. He’ll be back to it 🚜 once it dries up this afternoon, but it’s nice for now.
3mo DD is fast asleep on my chest while DS and DH play tractors on the floor. Washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher are all on, there’s a cake in the oven, the dogs are playing silly buggers wrestling in the kitchen and I can hear my lovely little call ducks chittering to each other in the rain in the yard. Nice weather for ducks, as they say!
May recruit MIL to watch DD while I take DS out riding on his pony. I’ve been putting her in the carrier and leading on foot but I want to be back in the saddle myself!

OneLilacEagle · 14/06/2025 09:55

Good morning all.

Quite a calm day planned. DS has woken up with a stinking cold, which explains why he's been a bit of a fud for the last couple of days! And I have woken up with a dodgy ear - feels all blocked and swollen inside. So very much chilling on the sofa today, I think. I've got a few errands of the pick up and ordering variety but nothing that can't wait so I'll see how I'm feeling.

Later, I might look out the Turkish phrase book from the attic and make some flashcards - I love languages and always try to learn some whenever we go abroad. I've got an online lesson tomorrow so want to refresh the (tiny) amount I already know.

Dinner later will be a feast comprising tins and frozen things picked up during Lidl's Greek week, plus tatziki.

@lucysmam Sorry to hear about the notice. Hope you find something great.

lucysmam · 14/06/2025 10:04

Thanks for the house hunting well wishes! We've been here years so hadn't really thought much about moving - it's handy for work/school and public transport links, but needs an awful lot of work. Hopefully the next place will have a good kitchen spot, and still be handy for work etc.

Zippedydodah · 14/06/2025 10:29

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone, it’s just started bucketing down here as we got back from the dog walk. I’m sorry to hear your have to start house hunting, I hope you find something quickly.
Lads of big black clouds when we were out, magnificent cumulonimbus stacking up across the skies; I half expected to get a soaking.
I’ve just enjoyed a bowl of mango, blueberries, natural yogurt and a sprinkle of granola 😋, using frozen fruit- remarkably delicious so definitely buying more (cheaper than fresh too!)
A big cup of coffee to finish then I’m going down my Shed to do some drawing and to listen to an audiobook. ZDog2 will probably join me, she’s like my shadow.
Lasagna for dinner with salad, looking forward to that!
Enjoy your weekend 🌻

Jamfirstest · 14/06/2025 10:31

Just having a secret McDonald’s on the way to do a changeover at my holiday business. It’s the highlight of my day really. I don’t love the changeover days but at least it’s some mental headspace away from my other job. I quite like assembling the little welcome basket I give the guests with some local treats.

Rainbow1235 · 14/06/2025 10:45

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 14/06/2025 11:00

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Lucysmam that's a total pain about the house! Did you suspect it was coming or was it out of the blue? I hope you find another soon.
I was up before six because of pain in my eye - I had cataract surgery yesterday - so coffee and then toast and tea were very early. Paracetamol helped with the pain which will subside as I remember from the first eye. The upshot was, I went back to bed and slept until I thought I heard my son saying hello. I shot up and came through - no sign of him. He lives in another town and it would have been unlikely, however he said he would visit me this week, so that must have been in my mind.
The weather is horrible and I'm not going anywhere anyway, so I'm still in my jammies and have had another cuppa and a pancake. Dinner will be straight from the fridge to the microwave to avoid bending. Have a good day all

FamingolosForDays · 14/06/2025 11:05

Ah, sorry to hear about the house @lucysmam I've moved twice in the last 2 years and it's pants. Keeping my fingers crossed we can stay here for a while.

I'm just sitting in my rocking chair contemplating a cup of tea and some breakfast. I've got new medication which I need to eat with.

My friend is coming over so it will be good to catch up with him. DC are at their dad's this weekend, we have fathers day dinner booked in tomorrow afternoon but I've realised I have forgotten to buy my stepfather a gift (as I do every year 🫣) so I need to pop out at some stage and do that.

Other than that, we are all on tenterhooks waiting for my sisters first baby to arrive. She was due earlier in the week so we are hoping for a nice father's day gift for lovely BIL. He's such a good egg, and it would be very special.

I've got a Tesco shop arriving later this evening, seriously lacking inspiration for dinner. What's everyone else having?

zingally · 14/06/2025 11:10

Was in the car before 8 this morning getting petrol and then off to Lidl for the food shopping. And home by about 8:45.
The sky was very dark and ominous when I got up, but it's come sunny now.
Nothing at all planned for today. Just a lazy one at home. I want to try and finish my library book this weekend, so I'll settle down with that shortly. And it's frozen pizza for tea - nothing fancy!

Giggorata · 14/06/2025 11:21

Good morning lucysmam and all.
Sorry to hear you have to move, lucysmam and I hope you find your new home quickly.
I am having an early brunch before getting ready to go out and conduct a wedding. The venue we are at has a lot of outdoor weddings and the weather looks uncertain, so I will take my fancy brolly with me. (And undoubtedly leave it behind)
I will drive home the long way round and do some grocery shopping, so I will probably take some normal clothes with me and change in the van.
The village is having its three day festival this weekend and I'm going to miss some of the events this afternoon but if we've got the energy, there's a ceilidh in the village hall tonight. The scarecrow competition was pretty good, though.
DH will turn the leftover roast lamb into curry for dinner.

InglouriousBasterd · 14/06/2025 11:47

Morning all! So sorry about the house lucysmam. It’s such a worry when you’re renting, if my landlord sold I’d struggle to find anything around here I could afford - like you, it needs work but I’ve lived here for years. Best of luck Flowers

DD is off to a cafe with her friend to revise for mocks. I’m going to do a clean through and head to the gym, then coffee and read in a cafe afterwards. Clean sheets and shower tonight! Lazy pasta dinner and telly, might find a film if I’m feeling awake enough!

Have a lovely day all

Peridot1 · 14/06/2025 12:22

Hello @lucysmam and Saturday gang

Sorry about the notice to move @lucysmam - what a pain. I hope you find something lovely.

@Dottydoodoo - implants at the same time as extractions? Wow. My dentist leaves lots of healing time - I have been having similar but it’s taken months. I did need bone grafts and a tissue graft though.

I have been up ages and have had a busy morning. DS has a friend staying and we had a bbq last night so kitchen was a mess this morning so I did dishwasher and cleared up a bit, then I went out for a walk around the fields then I went to pick up somethings I bought off FB Marketplace which was about half an hour away by the time I found it. Much quicker coming home!

About to have some lunch of leftover salads from last night. Then I’m finishing power washing the patio and doing some weeding. Have some plants being delivered too so will get pots ready for them.

Just thinking about dinner and it might be moussaka. I’m still on softish foods after some more dental bits during the week.

gingercat02 · 14/06/2025 12:32

Delightful day here. I'm out doing my volunteering role.
Meeting a friend for coffee late afternoon and a different one for a curry and wine.
DH is away and DS is off to see Sam Fender so I an a free agent today

Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?
Andnowshesatoddler · 14/06/2025 12:35

Were watching some David Attenborough programme at the moment my toddler is mesmerised by it and I love the it'll be nap time soon enough and I'll rush off and get a few groceries we need whilst she is.
Tonight it's takeaway nice showers and an early night.
