I look fucking awful

I had some new passport photos done to day and OMG i look awful.
I cant send them in no way.
Honestly it looks like im in shock like someone as a gun pointing at me.
I have no eye brows and pale i look like a scared ghost.
Going back to re-do them any tips on what i can do so i look half decent.
I dont wear make-up but i think this calls for it.
And how can i look like i do have a neck.
My hair was all pulled back i looked bald.
Please any tips on what i can do for my second round of pics.

My passport photo is coming up for 9 years old now. At the time I thought I looked awful.... now I think I look like a total fox in it.
Passport photos are meant to be bad. Go with it.

Well, I recently got my driver's license renewed. I wore makeup, wore clothing that was "flattering", fixed my hair

You KNOW you're having a bad day when the license lady retakes your picture. TWICE. And no, the picture still looks like I have 47 chins, 1 mm eyes and I'm standing in the middle of an EF2 tornado.
At least I know I will always, always, drive very carefully. I never, ever want to be pulled over and have to give my license.

I've actually chuckled aloud reading this thread. 'on a bender after murdering someone' is my favourite so far.

My mum and her equally elderly neighbour friend started competing with each other to get the worst, ugliest photo booth photo possible.

They had awful photos of each other displayed on their fridges. They would deliberately look into the lens like they wanted to kill it.

Mine are Myra Hindley lookalikes. I really don't care since passport photos are never good anyway and no one cares other than the border guard who doesn't give a shit either, just wants to get home for his tea.

Anyway most immigration uses those machine readable things nowadays (some exceptions yes I know Brexit blah blah), so if anyone thinks I'm paying for a makeover and a professional photo for a machine, that would be a NO. 😊

I drunkenly mislaid my handbag in a taxi post works drinks. Luckily the lovely cabbie took it to the police station nearish work and handed it in, and the cops contacted me through the work switchboard. I trotted up there at lunchtime with my friend from the office.

I described what it looked like, and what was in it. The guy on reception looked at my work pass which was in the bag (a beyond horrific photo), looked at me, and said, yes that's you. I was torn between being massively offended and glad I'd got everything back.

My friend was doubled up laughing.

The worst thing OP is that in 10 years time when you renew it you are going to look at it and wish you still looked like that.

All passport photos look horrible

It is not a fashion show

It is an official document

I did my makeup and had it done in a booth, still look bloody awful and old and pale and ill! 😂

Update.
I took advice from the thread.
I went back to boots this morning and got a lovely girl to help with makeup.
Went up stairs to the dreaded photo booth.
I look half decent now.
I had hair down and straightened makeup done.
And done the turtle thing with my neck.
Its not the best but i look half human.

A bit of pink blusher goes a long way to make me look more ‘healthy’. If you are going down the root of more make up I’d highly recommend boots No7 primer. Could you get your eyelashes and brows tinted?

I was some sort of embarrassed to ask the lady for help with makeup.
But she was lovely i told i didnt have time for plastic surgery this morning.
She grab a few bits and done a great job.
I brought what she used on me.
Not much but made a huge difference.

It sounds like your photo is better than most of ours!

Its really not the makeup takes the focus of whats really lying underneath lol.
Its not good but its better than what it was.
It will have to do now no going back for 10 years.

I’ve always been quite smug that I looked pretty good (and much closer to how I think I look in the mirror) in a standard Photo Booth picture so I was OK about my passport photo.

Since they changed the rules and I have to show my ears, the photo I had to take for my new passport is absolutely fucking hideous in comparison 😳

Just pick one with heavy makeup - by the time they’ve processed it you just look human and like you’re barely wearing any!

I hated my last passport photo, until I got my new one back, you don’t know what you have got until it’s gone. It was so bad I showed my friend and said I look like a child killer, meaning generically, she said “oh yes” and mentioned which one.

Second the Boots (or any other make up counter) make up lesson tutorial, then get photos done on the wsy home!

That's my sentiment exactly! I came across an expired passport in which I thought I looked like a dead walrus, if only I looked like that now.

Ha! Lol. I remember a friend enthusiastically saying that I was exactly like Kathy Bates in Misery. I was 22 and hot at the time!

I've just done a passport renewal and went through all my selfies on my phone to find one I'd taken at the start of an evening out on holiday. I used the cleanup feature on my phone to remove a line in the wall behind me and it passed the online photo check with the application (still waiting for confirmation that it's good enough on the actual checks).

After the absolute shit show of my last passport photo (where it was taken "professionally" and he kept making tilt my head further and further down until I had about 15 chins), there was no way I wasn't using one without a full face of make up and taken under my control!

If this photo fails I have will get DH to take another one but again with a full face of make up and decent hair. I have a lovely photo that I used for a security badge that I'd happily have on my passport, but I'm smiling in it, which is a no no.

10 years is a long time to live with it!

Maybe ask someone at the make-up counter to do your make-up for you? (Do they still do that?) Then have your photo taken.
