I've just been transported to 1993 when I met my Ex husband
He brought Luck of the draw by Bonnie Raitt"
I was reminded of the opening line " Turn down the bed" by a poster on another thread!
My last Partner, the album was All the little lights" by Passenger.
Listening to Luck of the draw as I'm composing this.

'Confessions' by Usher. Came out when I was about 13. Loved it, no skips x

ThatGumYouLike · 07/06/2025 16:39

In Rainbows by Radiohead. I seem to have just been at an age of forming particularly strong memories when it was released (I think I was about 20), and so it feels very nostalgic.

AutumnLover1989 · 07/06/2025 16:41

Lovesexy by Prince. Got it on cassette when I was 15. Loved that there was no gaps in between the songs so you couldn't skip it. Genius 🥰

Oasis, Morning Glory... know every note and every word...

Automatic for the People - REM

What a great question! However, I couldn't get it down to one album but I do have particular albums that help me travel back in time to very particular eras and places and, as such, feel very personal:
My childhood is Kate Bush, A Kick Inside and Modern Lovers Live
My teens: Prince and Purple Rain. Also Journey's Escape and then Frontiers.
Guns and Roses and David Lee Roth takes me to young adulthood and Donnington and the Marquee and Soho pubs.
My twenties: Ten, Pearl Jam. Radiohead's The Bends. August and Everything After, Counting Crows.
Thirties: Calexico, Feast of Wire. The Broken Family Band's Cold Water Songs, Killers, Hot Fuss (which is forever tied to a specific trip to NYC)
My forties - The Lone Bellow, Then Came The Morning - which makes me think of Donegal.
My hearing began to diminish in my mid 40s and now in my 50s, I'm less likely to listen to (new) music. - but when I do, it tends to be quite folky. My most recent obsession has been Waxahatchee Tigers Blood.

Yiayoula · 07/06/2025 17:23

So very hard to pick just one !

Love Chronicles - Al Stewart.

And jointly in second place : Bedsitter Images (Al Stewart) - Songs from a Room, and Songs of …(Leonard Cohen) - Blue (Joni Mitchell)

Goatalone · 07/06/2025 17:40

Kate Bush ‘Hounds of Love’.

Carole King Tapestry. I think I first listened to it in my teens and have adored it ever since. In labour I listened to it the whole way through in the bath in the dark and it calmed me right down. I’m 38 now and still listen to it regularly.

ElizabethVonArnim · 07/06/2025 17:59

Different Class - Pulp

uncomfortablydumb60 · 07/06/2025 18:01

Ooh Tapestry is a classic!
As you may see from my user name, my all time favourite album is Pink Floyd's The wall, and comfortably numb still gives me shivers as it did at 14. I've made a list for my sons to toast me with these songs when I've gone.
Also featuring is " There's a river" by Steve Winwood My Mum loved it too and her favourites were " keeping the dream alive" Freiheight and " Nobody knows by the Tony Rich Band.
I am bipolar and music " Feeds my soul"
I have a recent thread " Where in the world feeds your soul" which was an absolute joy.
I feel the same about this one.
Thank you for joining me on this wet and grey Saturday

I love Tapestry by Carole King but unlike the pp's I bought it when it came out! Yes, I'm old.

Me too! Have you listened to their live gig on radio 2?

RaraRachael · 07/06/2025 19:18

The River by Bruce Springsteen. It came out when I was at uni and I must have done precious little apart from listen to it as I know virtually every song word for word, even the ones I wasn't so keen on.

YourChirpyFatball · 07/06/2025 19:22

Jagged Little Pill, probably.

The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. A slice of genius from start to finish. Was lucky enough to see Morrissey last weekend and ‘I Know it’s Over’ sounded as amazing almost 40yrs on as it did the first time he committed it to celluloid.
