Light hearted to counter the worst stuff you've bought thread.

Me - two Kirby vacuums for under £200 delivered from eBay rather than £4k - one for each floor as they're bloody heavy. I may think of more as we go along

My Eufy robot vacuum cleaner is by far the best think I have ever bought.

Sage coffee machine - better than high street cafés

Cordless Dyson- So easy to do the stairs and it has a light which is surprisingly useful

A colourful painting from a local artist that makes me happy every time I enter the hall

I forgot about the dehumidifier. Not just for laundry but when DD (of the long hair that hates hoovers) has her hour long, beautifying showers 😩

I’ve always fancied one. I’m single and I’m not very strong. Is it something I could install? Also, are they difficult/expensive to maintain. Are they loud enough that you can hear them from an upstairs window if it was open? (I’d love that!). Sorry for all the Qs but if anyone could help - thanks in advance!

I couldn’t install it but my husband did 🤣. We have a plug in one, don’t notice electric bills higher from it 🤷‍♀️ I can hear it when the windows are open its do relaxing. My daughter has a solar polar one she loves it.

HappiestSleeping · 07/06/2025 19:59

Another one for instant boil tap.

And water softener.

Middlemarch123 · 07/06/2025 20:02

My Henry. Tried all the other ones, cordless, Dyson, robot…always go back to Henry.

So does this replace the plastic cup bit and the metal circle? If so that looks good

The plastic cup is inside still so just replaces the metal circle but nothing gets through it. I just wipe over with a cleaning wipe and discard the hair in the bin and put back in place. Never need to touch the inside basket. They do also have a inside basket as part.of the range but I haven't tried that.

Ihateboris · 07/06/2025 20:15

These Eufy sensor lights. I have them dotted around my apartment so I don't have to put the lights on in the middle of the night when I'm going for a pee!

Halogen oven , I use it everyday and it’s so convenient compared to the normal oven
Balsam Hill Christmas trees , I love my trees and they make me very happy
Hamish my black bear footstool and his cousin Murray the moose footstool .

Philips IPL hair remover

A steam generator iron and massive brabantia board

Dbank · 07/06/2025 20:41

Cast Iron Le Cruset wok, at least 30 years old, and looks (almost) as good as new.

Teentitansgo · 07/06/2025 20:46

Shower sheeting for the bathroom instead of tiles. So easy to clean and no grout.

Thank you for your reply. Def will get one for my next home - love the solar powered idea!

Water feature in the garden it’s so relaxing to listen to when we have some sun

Can you tell me where you got it from please? Is it solar powered?

Goingawayistricky · 07/06/2025 22:04

I have an ironing board with a plug attached. You plug the board in to a socket and the iron plugs into the top of the board. Means you don’t stretch the iron cable or worry about pulling it off. Apparently common in Germany. It’s a brilliant idea.

Check out the internet. Primrose do a good range and they'd be easy to install

I now feel like I am the only person in the world who doesn’t have an air fryer.

No you're not. I don't have one either, but what I do have is a Remouska which is brilliant. It;s a pan with a heating element in the lid. I can do a whole roast dinner (for 2), meat, roasties, veg, roast parsnips. It cooks food in the time it takes the oven to heat up

Why has no one invented a super sized dishwasher. Maybe a double cupboard sized one. We have super sized fridges/freezers/washing machines etc.

We definitely need 2

I have two dishwashers as the former owner of my home was Jewish and didn’t want to wash the dairy and meat plates together. I thank that lady every day it is GLORIOUS.

She also left me two ovens hehe.

Iloveanicegarden · 07/06/2025 22:46

We bought a 'living flame' log effect gas fire before they became trendy and I love it. I can sit and watch the flickering flames for hours in the winter (the cat loved staring at it too)
Wall boards in the refurbed bathroom. I hate grouting.
Wall boards in the kitchen too, to match the quartz worktops.
The induction hob so much easier to clean
My Remouska - a plug in mini cooker
And finally - for grand total of under £10 for yards and yards of cheap muslin I made festoon style roof shades for the conservatory. Dyed a pale blue they look lovely billowing in the breeze and do a brilliant job of regulating temperature

CitCatCassie · 07/06/2025 22:52

My robot hoover was a great Amazon deal and is like one of the family now. And use the air fryer daily.

Not technically a purchase, but setting up subscriptions for dog food, pet treatments, laundry detergent, fabric conditioner, toilet roll, kitchen rolls etc has made life so much easier

Tarkan · 07/06/2025 22:53

The fire comments have reminded me about our little heater. It’s “just” a fan heater but it looks like a log burner type thing. We can put it anywhere in the house too so I can have it in the living room or take it to my book nook at rhe end of the hallway if I want to sit and read. I don’t even have to turn the heat on, sometimes just the lights being on and looking like flames is enough to feel cosy.

I got one. It didn’t fit.

Tarkan · 07/06/2025 22:56

Little pic of my fan heater in the dark. It’s nice to make you feel cosy at night.
