M&S says my basket content is available to buy yet I can't pay

It also says orders paused. Has anyone else had this? Saying available to buy is new. Five weeks I've been waiting and I ordered and paid for this before the hacking.

I think their online shopping is still paused due to the cyber-hack.

soupyspoon · 04/06/2025 20:59

July they can do it from I thought?

HermioneWeasley · 04/06/2025 21:00

They have repeatedly said that online ordering is not available

I know. However today it says the stuff in my basket is available to buy. I suppose another cock up then.

Well theyve been victims of a cyber attack if thats what you call a cock up

I’m sure they will be shouting from the rooftops when online sales are available again, you won’t need to check your basket.

they’re losing millions a day, I’m sure they’re keen to get it sorted

Greenoteao · 04/06/2025 21:15

The header still shows its suspended, it won’t be a cock up, it will slowly be bringing functionality of the site back until they relaunch online sales

abracadabra1980 · 04/06/2025 21:15

I was in a store this week (North) and the staff said they had no idea when even in-store ordering would be resolved.

TheSalmonMousse · 04/06/2025 21:19

Who days you can buy it?
Have you had a dodgy email from hackers claiming to be them?

They have been hacked. Major cyber attack. Shut down their site for weeks. Crippled their business. I would assume that there are a lot of issues out of their control. You are debating it being a cock up and issue and haven't quote fully grasped that they may not have full control over the sites and functionality.

TheLette · 04/06/2025 22:24

The banner says you can browse. That means look at what's for sale. It doesn't say you can buy the stuff for sale online. It's very clear tbf.

Snorlaxo · 04/06/2025 22:30

When it’s relaunched, everybody on here will be talking about it and it will probably make the news headlines as it’s a big deal in the UK.

M&S are aiming for a July relaunch apparently.

Expect emails directly from M&S once the website is back. Until then they will be building and retesting the new systems.

2025ismybestyear · 04/06/2025 22:41

I can read. Obviously. Some people clearly are missing what it says. It says Available to buy. Which means click pay on line, no. I know it also says paused. I'm curious as to why it says both.

anyway, I'll leave it here now since people can't just answer questions.

Available to buy means available to buy does it not?

OP posts:
TheLette · 04/06/2025 22:52

Yes it does but there's a much more prominent banner above that which makes things clear. I think you need to cut M&S some slack here - they are dealing with a massive cyber attack, probably the biggest/most devastating to hit a UK retailer so far.

yes it means “available to buy” e.g in stock!

it is “available” but it clearly states at the top that online orders are paused still so the fact it is “available to buy” is irrelevant as you can’t proceed due to them not taking orders!

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 04/06/2025 22:54

So much drama over a Colin the Caterpillar dog toy 😁

It’s available to buy in an actual shop.

Seriously dude read the cyber room. You can't order online atm, no matter what it says and I certainly wouldn't be trusting it anyway. Cyber attacks are hardcore.

It does say at the top there are no online orders happening.

You haven't sat waiting for weeks with no grub have you though?

It doesn't mean it's available to buy online. It means it's in stock, you might find it in store.

But sure, sarcasm. It's nobody else's fault here that you're choosing to ignore the obvious.

McCartneyOnTheHeath · 04/06/2025 22:59

Jeepers. Maybe your dog can explain it to you!
