M&S says my basket content is available to buy yet I can't pay

It also says orders paused. Has anyone else had this? Saying available to buy is new. Five weeks I've been waiting and I ordered and paid for this before the hacking.

I can read. Obviously. Some people clearly are missing what it says. It says Available to buy. Which means click pay on line, no. I know it also says paused. I'm curious as to why it says both.

anyway, I'll leave it here now since people can't just answer questions.

rhey will be testing and checking things work live, like the basket function ahead of a roll out.

They have the toy in stock and it’s available to buy in store.

Why would you even try and buy from their website right now ? 🤷‍♀️ They will email you when they are ready.

M&S went cheap for their IT and got burnt https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42629522

I’ve FA sympathy for them when there’s good UK based cyber security experts unable to find work because businesses like M&S think it can be done on the cheap without consequences

Marks store front

M&S outsources half of its tech jobs

Around 250 roles in its 430-strong IT team will be transferred to Indian tech giant Tata Consultancy.

I know. However today it says the stuff in my basket is available to buy. I suppose another cock up then.

It’s wasn’t a cock up. They’ve been victims of a cyber attack.

I have stuff in my basket since before the attack. It’s consistently allowed to click the “checkout securely” button but then given you a message saying orders are paused. It’s just the way they’ve set things up to pause orders. Not sure why you think that’s in some way a “cock up! either!

DisillusionedCyberSec · 05/06/2025 10:05

Companies are more likely to become victims of cyber attack and for the impact to be worse and take longer to clean up when they go cheap for their IT and security, like M&S

Josiesmammy · 05/06/2025 13:35

I've had this appearing on my basket page since yesterday as well; it's a bit silly, since it's still not possible to check out. Why confuse the issue even further M&S?

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 05/06/2025 13:37

Why do people keep heading to their basket and attempting to check out though? M&S will announce when they’re able to fulfil online orders again.
