Inspired by another post about what people can’t do.. what CAN you do?

I can:
Whistle through my tongue when it’s rolled up
Play the piano and guitar by ear (not at same time)
Remember birthdays
Balance on one foot for a VERY long time without wobbling

All useful life skills, as you can imagine.

I can remember things. Not every single day of my life but many many of them going back to before the age of 2 and in ridiculous watching-a-film level of detail. On the downside, I get irritated with people when they claim to be right about something that happened when we were together or when, because I KNOW they are wrong. And also what I was wearing, and the exact position of the rug on the carpet and what kind of sandwiches we had afterwards.

Jewelanemone · 03/06/2025 20:03

I make extremely good hot chocolate.

Bamboozles · 03/06/2025 20:03

I am world class at procrastinating 😂

AmyDuPlantier · 03/06/2025 20:04

Spelling; I just instinctively know how things are/should be spelled.

Shufflebumnessie · 03/06/2025 20:06

I am awesome at:
feigning interest (although this is becoming more difficult the further into Peri-menopause I get!!)
Twisting my wrists the wrong way, enabling my elbows to meet (can't really describe well, but it's not normal 😂).
Procrastinating!!
Checking the remaining time on an Alexa timer, when there are less than 10 seconds remaining.

FastMauveQuoter · 03/06/2025 20:06

I am great at proof reading, my boss used to run loads of stuff by me. Also can keep a confidence when asked. I make lovely personal greeting cards for friends and family and they love them.

StMarie4me · 03/06/2025 20:09

Problem solving. Have had to do it my whole life so I’m very good at it!

coxesorangepippin · 03/06/2025 20:09

Perfectly guessing the right tupperware to fit the amount of food to be stored

The other thing that I'm bizarrely good at is working out complicated annual leave entitlements. I quite like doing them for some reason, whereas they seem to fry a lot of people's brains!

I'm generally quite good at a lot of stuff that other people seem to find difficult, because my brain works in a particular way. Unfortunately, I'm really bad at some of the stuff that other people seem to find mysteriously easy. My adhd brain is quite odd, really!Grin

God can you work mine out! I swear mine pro rota is wrong but I can’t for the life of me figure it out!

Cakeandcardio · 03/06/2025 20:10

What year songs were released from around 1989 to 2015
Remember appointments up to a year in advance.

upinaballoon · 03/06/2025 20:13

I am good at washing up pots and pans. I like shiny, clean pots and cutlery.
I am excellent at procrastination.
I am able to make un-lumpy white sauce from scratch.
I am very good at saying that if a piece of garden looks like terrible wilderness all you have to do is start in a small way and keep going and you will clear it.

Heritagehog · 03/06/2025 20:13

Bloody brilliant at sleeping. Can fall asleep anywhere and stay asleep through anything. It’s my superpower!

hyggetyggedotorg · 03/06/2025 20:13

Remembering details like dates of birth, addresses, middle names, children’s names etc after having only been told once.

I work in an office of 103 staff & can list all of their birthdays (it has been tested 😂).

However, ask me why I went into the kitchen…..

SilentBob · 03/06/2025 20:18

Masked singer.
Blue steaks (I am a chef but even so, I’ve met many who can’t get it right)
NYT crosswords
whentaken quiz
I have the most ridiculous sense of smell
I’m great at drinking wine
I am amazing at appearing to be outgoing when in truth I’m the most introverted person I know

strugglinguphill · 03/06/2025 20:19

Absolutely nothing!

PermanentTemporary · 03/06/2025 20:23

Making rice. My rice is always awesome without fail.

Getting anaesthetic and painkillers out of medical professionals. I think it's a youngest child thing - if I didn't scream loudly when I was a kid, nobody took any notice. So I learned to make sure everyone knew I was in pain, usually before it's actually happened. Kerching, prescription for codeine.

Aria999 · 03/06/2025 20:24

Loading the dishwasher efficiently

chairing meetings

rearranging furniture in hotel rooms (eg so we can fit DD air bed in)

I am also surprisingly good at the game 'hey that's my fish!'

TrinityWaves · 03/06/2025 20:25

Sleeping.
Putting on weight.
Mothering feral cats.
Strangers oversharing.

mygrandchildrenrock · 03/06/2025 20:25

I can poach eggs perfectly, every time. It’s a small thing but pleases my family no end!
I can touch type, I did an RSA in typing at school many years before Computers were a thing. When Computers did come into use, being able to touch type was a huge advantage and remains so.
Know and understand a lot about child development, came in very useful working in education for over 30 years and with my own children and grandchildren.

CLK125 · 03/06/2025 20:27

I have a great sense of direction. Terrible at geography and would struggle to pinpoint places on a map but put me in a car and tell me to get from point A-Z without maps etc i always seem to manage and once iv done it once i wont forget the route.

It really annoys my husband as he is genuinely one of the cleverest people I know but absolutely terrible with direction and I love having something to one up him on 😂😂

Funnywonder · 03/06/2025 19:17

I’m not brilliant at parking, but there was one day my son and I were late for an appointment and a surge of adrenaline propelled me into a tiny on street space. I climbed out of the car and two men were clapping and doing thumbs up signs at me. My 12yo was mortified🤣🤣

I also once swiftly and miraculously got into a space with about 3 inches to spare on either side when me and DS were late for an appointment! No appreciative audience though thankfully!

RomeoRivers · 03/06/2025 20:32

I’m a fantastic host.

An excellent packer.

Superb holiday organiser.

12345mummy · 03/06/2025 20:35

Dancing 💃🏻 should have taken it further in my earlier life

Sayshesheshe · 03/06/2025 20:37

Interviewing - I’ve been offered every job I’ve interviewed for

Getting things done (in a work context) - I’m very good at bringing people together to get shit done

outside of work not much! I’m good at making and keeping friends.

NegroniMacaroni · 03/06/2025 20:41

Leisure time. I could be a leisure time consultant.
