Inspired by another post about what people can’t do.. what CAN you do?

I can:
Whistle through my tongue when it’s rolled up
Play the piano and guitar by ear (not at same time)
Remember birthdays
Balance on one foot for a VERY long time without wobbling

All useful life skills, as you can imagine.

  • Reverse & parallel parking.
  • Peeing my teens off by saying good morning 🤣

Oh yes and both of these 😂

Beeinalily · 03/06/2025 17:37

Remembering tunes, some of which I heard over sixty years ago. Absolutely useless 😞

gerke · 03/06/2025 17:38

Find out information about people online.

VoltaireMittyDream · 03/06/2025 17:38

Making decisions. As I’ve got older I’ve developed a very strong feeling that life is too short to spend it endlessly dithering and weighing up options. I identify the information I need, find the information, and use it to make a sensible decision in the understanding there is no right or wrong answer and I’m resourceful enough to cope if the outcome isn’t what I’d hoped.

(The flip side of this is that other people’s inability to make decisions drives me up the fucking wall. Fine if you want to waste your own time on circular rumination and fretful hand-wringing, but you’re not wasting mine as well!)

Organising international moves with pets (fantastic at it but I really hate doing it and don’t ever want to do it again)

DelboytrottersDnecklace · 03/06/2025 17:39

I can rap the bartman, word for word

And I make the best brownies/chocolate cake/lemon cake/scones in the world

Can't walk in a straight line for toffee-im amazed I've not fallen into the road and been killed

wrongthinker · 03/06/2025 17:40

Writing.
Solving other people's problems.
Reading Tarot.
Making people laugh.
Dog whispering.
Sex.

To name but a few! Grin

TheOliveFinch · 03/06/2025 17:40

Sight-reading music and solving anagrams, the first is more useful than the second

Moier · 03/06/2025 17:41

Bake.
Cook.
Sew.( hand and machine)
Give a listening ear and empathy.
And according to my family.. give the best cuddles.

SharpTiger · 03/06/2025 17:46

I can add numbers in my head pretty quickly and can harmonise between keys. Pretty fabulous at telling the time without a clock. On top of this my sense of smell is bloody superb, and as a smoker it really shouldnt be. None of these skills have made me a millionaire unfortunately.

Funnywonder · 03/06/2025 17:46

I can roll my tongue into a sort of three leaf clover shape.
I can peel potatoes at lightning speed. In fact I get a feeling of overwhelming rage when I see people doing it slowly. I once grabbed the potato peeler off my friend in her own kitchen and started peeling the potatoes PROPERLY. She was a bit surprised, but happy to step back🤣

Sorry, but my MIL makes the best one in the world.

The woman is crackers but I've yet to find anyone who can make pasta sauce better than her.

Aaargh!
what about sticky ginger cake??? Mine is the best (stamps feet)
Anyone’s MIL want to claim that?😂😂

angelinawasrobbed · 03/06/2025 17:48

I can change the toilet roll

may not sound much, but apparently I’m the only one in our house who can do it 😡

Ooh I’ve got a great sense of smell as well. This does not make any aspect of life easier or more pleasant for me. 🤣

Goatalone · 03/06/2025 17:56

Hand sewing. Have always been able to since I was a young child.

MargaretMarigold · 03/06/2025 17:58

Remembering phone numbers and account numbers.

Ophy83 · 03/06/2025 17:58

I make a fab lasagne and have perfected a cake repertoire that covers all occasions for which I might need to bake.

I'm really good at reading kids books aloud and do all the voices.

I'm also really quick at reading and typing.

Flozle · 03/06/2025 17:59

Remembering, in minute detail, when and where anything happened. Not big things: not Live Aid or Charles and Diana’s wedding. Utterly trivial things like when my husband’s niece got her gold iPhone, or when my stepson started going out with his first girlfriend. Also remembering bits of trivia about people I’ve never met, which they find really creepy if I do meet them.

More positively, I never betray a secret, and I make amazing croissants.

Notellinganyone · 03/06/2025 18:01

Mark English essays accurately and at warp speed. Even if I haven’t read the text !

spiderlight · 03/06/2025 18:02

BrunchBarBandit · 03/06/2025 17:15

I can fit everything on one page

I can get a document (research articles etc.) to the exact word count required.

RadiovTV · 03/06/2025 18:02

I can always open a new plastic bin bag/carrier bag first time just with my thumb and forefinger. My husband never can, not ever. He thinks I'm awesome.

MyKingdomForACat · 03/06/2025 18:02

Catastrophizing

WestwardHo1 · 03/06/2025 18:03

I can remember dates and places very clearly. When my old friends want to know what happened and when, they ask me.

It also lets me find files and photos without having to search too hard. Slightly more useful.

I also have amazing balance and can untangle knots 😂

WestwardHo1 · 03/06/2025 18:04

Oh and I'm great at reading stories aloud to children. I wish my nephews and nieces were still little 😞

And parallel parking. I'm great at that.
