Inspired by another post about what people can’t do.. what CAN you do?

I can:
Whistle through my tongue when it’s rolled up
Play the piano and guitar by ear (not at same time)
Remember birthdays
Balance on one foot for a VERY long time without wobbling

All useful life skills, as you can imagine.

Ah! My twin 😀
I’m the family super-organiser. Personal best is organising and booking a relative’s wedding to the last detail in 4 days (they were living abroad and asked me to).

My superpower is listening to people chat away with vague thoughts and ideas and distil it all down so they say “that’s exactly what I want/meant”.

Like you, it comes so naturally to me I’m truly puzzled that not everyone’s brains work the same, but hey, I like being useful.

I also make the best bolognese in the world 😂

Sorry, but my MIL makes the best one in the world.

The woman is crackers but I've yet to find anyone who can make pasta sauce better than her.

Shuffle a pack of cards like a casino pro.

I love watching those HK movies about gamblers - the card shuffling is a highlight! Mad with envy at your skill.

Passing naso gastric tubes on children first time and unblocking IV lines.

I was a dab hand at catherising females, instinctively found the right entrance when others couldn’t. An unusual skill, I know!

I am good at planning timings. So if you said to me you need to get up, get yourself and 2 kids ready to attend a wedding, call at a shopping centre to buy a gift, then go to collect 2 other people, get a quick lunch and arrive at the wedding 30 miles away at 2pm. I could plan this exactly to the minute and know what time everyone needed to get up or be picked up and my schedule would be spot on to the minute. Now I think about it this isn’t really something worth showing off about is it?

How does traffic factor in to this?

I can plan everything to the minute but traffic foils me regularly.

Finding treasures in charity shops. Bought a patchwork quilt last week for £3. It's by kaffe fassett and worth a lot more. Best find was a necklace for a few quid. Turned out to be antique Baltic amber. Sold it for £900...

BrunchBarBandit · 03/06/2025 17:15

I can fit everything on one page

Are you me?!😂

Possibly Grin Do you also do cryptic crosswords?

665theneighborofthebeast · 03/06/2025 17:23

Listening, and hearing the unspoken subtext when people talk about themselves.
Understanding how things (objects, machines, tools designs etc) work (or won't) by looking at them even if i dont know what they are.

House training puppies

Toddlerteaplease · 03/06/2025 17:25

@Allseeingallknowing I can’t do that to save my life. I can never find the right hole. 😂😂😂 Fortunately In Paediatrics we rarely need to do it.

DepositSaverUpper · 03/06/2025 17:27

Remembering birthdays.
Being organised with everything
Helping others

catscatscurrantscurrants · 03/06/2025 17:27

I'm brilliant at sewing, particularly exquisite handsewing. I make historical replica clothes for a living.
I can also sing beautifully in medieval English, French and Latin. I spent my misspent youth as the singer for a medieval band!

LindorLusadi · 03/06/2025 17:28

Totally useless but knowing when a timer will go off. I have it within 10 seconds. Bit still set them !

Dontsayyouloveme · 03/06/2025 17:31

Worrying and over thinking, unfortunately 😥

BatFaceChops · 03/06/2025 17:32

Treating myself

Uricon2 · 03/06/2025 17:33

Procrastination. Nobel standard 😂

I also have a very, very good eye for antiques. The big "one that got away" because I didn't follow my instinct still bugs me.

AngelinaFibres · 03/06/2025 17:33

Machine embroidery.
Bring a granny. Two grandsons aged 3 years and 15 months. Have them one day a week every week and for lots of sleepovers . Absolutely love it.
Gardening. Very happy to say that my large garden is bloody gorgeous.

Icedcaramelfrappe · 03/06/2025 17:34

Remembering names, I can go back 40 years and I still know them all

BestieBunch · 03/06/2025 17:34
  • Reverse & parallel parking.
  • Peeing my teens off by saying good morning 🤣
Comedycook · 03/06/2025 17:35

Cooking and I can name every capital city in the world.

Folding a piece of paper perfectly into 3. Had a job in an office when I was 18 where I had to fold about 1000 letters and put them in envelopes so the address showed through the little window. The skill has never left me 20 years later.
Remembering song lyrics. (but not useful and important things like who politicians are etc).
Moving my eyes separately from one another (this one's a good party trick).

Edited

I can do the paper folding too and also sort things into alphabetical order really quickly, the latter is from working in a bank when juniors had to sort the "clearing" (hundreds of cheques) into alphabetical order.
