Just that really…
Wondering if my engagement is beyond the average! Google said 15 months which doesn’t seem long to plan a wedding to me!

Just under a year. I can't see why anyone would need longer than a year to plan a wedding. I find really long engagements baffling.

DramaAlpaca · 02/06/2025 19:29

It was 15 months for us, 35 years married this month. We got engaged after a year together.

littlemissalwaystired · 02/06/2025 19:29

15 months.

Highfivemum · 02/06/2025 19:31

Four weeks. Both just 18 and got a cancellation with register office. I was just 18 and DH 18 years 3 months. Still together 28 yrs later and quite a few children. Knew him from age 4. Best thing I did.

alcoholnightmare · 02/06/2025 19:31

29 years so far....

AKAanothername · 02/06/2025 19:45

Six months, we'd been together 13 years but when he proposed we both figured we might as well just get on and do it.

merryhouse · 02/06/2025 19:55

Thirteen months.

But this was back in the early 90s when it was the registry office or the church, the photographer was there for no more than three hours, and all the vegetarians had mushroom risotto (except that we had a buffet in the church hall instead). And I reused my mum's dress so didn't even have that to worry about.

Nc856 · 02/06/2025 19:55

18 months

Stinkbomb · 02/06/2025 19:57

6 months - earliest suitable opportunity at our local registry office!!

DelurkingAJ · 02/06/2025 19:57

18 months. Family overseas were very keen to come but needed a bit of notice to be able to afford it.

user1476613140 · 02/06/2025 20:00

3 months.

tukker · 02/06/2025 20:01

1st marriage 9 yrs then divorced after 5 yrs. Ex engaged and remarried after 2 yrs 🤔.
Now I'm engaged since 2019, not really bothered about getting married again.

AllAroundMyGarden · 02/06/2025 20:03

5 years. We got engaged in august, and I was pregnant in October.

We only properly decided to organise and book the wedding about 3 months before we got married.

HappyHunting101 · 02/06/2025 20:04

18 months, but we were waiting to graduate Uni. Probably would have been less than a year if not.

TurquoiseDress · 02/06/2025 20:29

14 months

Also managed to have a baby in that time too Grin

Cocolapew · 02/06/2025 20:30

A year, we'd been together 3 weeks when we decided to get married 😄

363838dhdi · 02/06/2025 20:30

A little over a year, we wanted to crack on and were fortunately able to do so.

AnonWho23 · 02/06/2025 20:32

3 years from engagement to wedding. Although, I planned the whole wedding in 3 months. I came into some money and used it to pay for the wedding.

SilverPhoto · 02/06/2025 20:37

Thank you everyone. I knew I was an outlier but didn’t realise by how much. This has confirmed my suspicions it was just a shut up ring all along.

4 years.

finfitrulesok · 02/06/2025 20:41

5 months

Wbeezer · 02/06/2025 20:50

I can't actually remember what date I got engaged on ( oops) but we were only engaged for 4 or 5 months. Managed to get a wedding date in a cathedral ( my childhood church) as we were willing to get married on the 13th when nobody else would book it!
Small wedding with DIY reception.
