Personally, my least favourite of all the characters in Bill and Ben.

MerryPortas · 29/05/2025 22:13

I find miss in my grass endearing, but weeds in my flowerbeds are persistent pests.

HerNameIsDebbie · 29/05/2025 22:16

A plant growing where it's not wanted.

What are your thoughts OP?

The RHS have a great book now ‘Do Bees need Weeds’.

Paljmens · 29/05/2025 22:23

Round up works best, especially on the block paving.

I need that book in my life.

You need more pelvic floor exercises in your life

But some of the persistent buggers take longer than you expect to pop their clogs.

EmeraldRoulette · 29/05/2025 22:38

@Allaboutthekids35 proposals re law change you mean?

Username2151 · 29/05/2025 22:42

I'm so sick of that word "weed"!
My DH is always going on about it, always asking me to look up a safe and environmentally friendly way to kill whatever weed it is he is trying to eradicate!
Every morning before the sun gets too warm I ask him where he's going and he says he's going out to weed!

Mistyglade · 29/05/2025 22:44

Don’t drink its killer that’s for sure.

Stripeyanddotty · 29/05/2025 22:44

@LittleGreenDragons
Total game changer.

I like the ad for some weed killer or other & an animated dandelion pops up & says “ ello mate” - made me laugh as a child & still amuses me

Flatbellyfella · 29/05/2025 23:36

I use white vinegar for my weeds.

Thank you, it's going on my Christmas wish list!

For patios or small paths I've found boiling water from the kettle to be quite good.

I assume you mean cannabis, the THC containing illegal variety.

I think it's far safer than alcohol.

But the risks are there : I genuinely know of a good handful of people that smoked it heavily that ended up being diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. One of them I knew personally and was really rather normal before the weed habit. Now, I cross the road when I see him. He's scary looking and you can see the paranoia in his eyes. I'd worry what he would do if you looked at him a second too long. He's been sectioned multiple times in recent years. He definitely was not always mentally ill.

I do think there's a link between weed and paranoid schizophrenia development.

PowerTulle · 30/05/2025 08:18

Apparently you should use the water you’ve boiled potatoes in.

I so love a sunny dandelion though.

Lonelycrab · 30/05/2025 08:21

If you keep attacking bindweed by pulling it up as soon as it grows, it eventually gives up.

i do to. How long do you think you would have to smoke it? To become like that

Stinks. Fed up with smelling it everywhere, especially drivers going past.

or:

the bind weed on my allotment drives me insane.

Yes it does have a very strong smell.

If you mean cannabis personally I love the stuff. I have worn out discs and compression of my spinal cord in my neck and suffer pretty much constant pain as a result. But a little bit of cannabis gives me a few hours in the evening pain free. It’s very good for me. With the new vapes you can get the smell vanishes almost instantly too. However it’s not for everyone and can cause terrible problems for some people.

I'd imagine it's likely chronic, prolonged and excessive use over a fairly substantial time period. I think cannabis has it's place medicinally for sure. I think it's less harmful than alcohol. But the mental health problems it may cause are concerning. Paranoid schizophrenia is probably the most major mental health diagnosis and those who have it have a higher chance of causing a threat to themselves (and others ) so not great.

Terrribletwos · 30/05/2025 19:41

Not against it per se if someone is growing their own but cannabis farms run by criminal gangs have been a huge problem in my area.
