François Mitterrand had a child, Mazarin Pingeot by his mistress of many years Anne Pingeot.

My impression was she was wiping away a crumb or something from his face, or maybe she kissed him and got lipstick on and she was wiping that away. I think he looked a little irritated because he realized the press was there with cameras right when she did that.

Like my mother who used to lick her finger and tame my wild eyebrows when I was a kid. I hated that.

@Ihavehadenoughalready do you need to push hard with 2 hands to remove a crumb, to the extent that the other person recoils? Even the Macrons know that would be laughable, and have gone with the “messing about” story.

Plotzbluemonday · 26/05/2025 22:51

There is not one normal thing about their relationship. Not one.

placemats · 26/05/2025 22:53

Big age gap relationships do creep me out, especially when it comes to male older, female younger.

FancyNewt · 26/05/2025 22:57

The excuses being made here are unreal.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 26/05/2025 23:01

saraclara · 26/05/2025 22:46

Would you search for an 'explanation' if a man hit a woman in the face?

Yes, of course. Because I, and the courts, like to understand behaviour , not just rush to judgement. I would condemn it, too , just as I condemn what I have seen on the video. , albeit not in person and without any background to preceding events.

I am NOT condoning Mme. Macron pushing her husband in the face, why on earth would I? But I think there is a difference between the behaviour of someone who may be mentally unwell, and someone who just fancies a bit of aggro. But you rush to judgement without consideration, if that’s your preference.

I know. It's depressing.

Nanny0gg · 26/05/2025 23:07

MidnightMeltdown · 26/05/2025 20:53

Hmmm… I think I will reserve judgement until we find out what he’s done to deserve it (if we ever do!)

I wonder whether another woman has caught his eye

Done to 'deserve' it?

saraclara · 26/05/2025 23:08

Nanny0gg · 26/05/2025 23:07

Done to 'deserve' it?

Shocking isn't it?

Nanny0gg · 26/05/2025 23:08

MidnightMeltdown · 26/05/2025 21:09

Where did I say that it’s got to be his fault?! I said I will reserve judgement because we don’t know what he did.

Which implies that it's his fault!

saraclara · 26/05/2025 23:10

People are trying themselves in knots to avoid accepting that a woman did something violent to a man, or to find some reason why he was at fault.

It's pathetic, and really, really sexist.

It's absolutely awful, the victim blaming and the whataboutery. No wonder men don't come forward, don't ask for help. There's such a stigma.

Quirkswork · 26/05/2025 23:21

NewMoonToday · 26/05/2025 22:20

Oh give over.

The law is different in France anyway.

You know bugger all about them or their relationship other than what the press reports - and that is usually skewed.

She's 72, they've been together for 20+ years, he's an adult man and can make his own choice- oh, and he's the bloody president too.

Edited

Hmm...if a 39 year old teacher groomed my nitwit 15 year old son (and they are all vulnerable nitwits who think they know everything and they really don't) despite us trying to get him.away from her, and then married him (thus ensuring he would be unlikely to have his own children) and then hit him in the face no matter how long they had been married, I'm not sure I'd think "oh give over" was a response of anyone remotely normal.

And we've already been through the difference between "legal" ie age of consent and "right" upthread. As mentioned, 9 is legal in Iran. Does that make it right to you?

Same ❤️✨💕 the fact that she groomed a child, looks like she can barely take care of herself & is clearly pushing his face backwards completely escapes me aswell #RelationshipGoals

Butchyrestingface · 26/05/2025 23:31

She's a horrible old child abuser who not only got away with her crimes but actually profited from them by going on to marry her victim.

Wouldn't surprise me if she knocks seven bells out of him.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 26/05/2025 23:43

Hmmm

If he’s doing a good job and he’s not bothered by it, I’m not going to worry about it massively.

Edit - just by way of explaining what I mean - I feel like his position as basically the most important democratic leader in the world at the moment is more important that anything that’s going on in their relationship.

twilightermummy · 26/05/2025 23:50

Abusers ramp things up when they begin to lose control. I bet she's always threatening him with public exposure.
I've been abused and I can tell that wasn't the first time that she's done it.
I feel really sorry for him. Hopefully this will be the straw that broke the camel's back and he ditches her. That's one messed up relationship though. He was groomed from being a teenager in my eyes. I'd be devastated if that happened to my boys.

Braygirlnow · 26/05/2025 23:56

AliasGraced · 26/05/2025 19:56

It wasn’t even mentioned on the 6 o’clock news.

That's where I saw it.

WhatterySquash · 26/05/2025 23:57

It's the look on his face that I find upsetting about it - he's not surprised or shocked, he looks upset and embarrassed and like he knows he has to hold it together, de-escalate and put on a brave face.

Of course we don't know what goes on between them or if he treats her badly etc. All kinds of things could come out. But I've seen that reaction in women. It's very reminiscent of the Nigella video.

I did wonder if there could be a dementia element but she seemed composed walking down the steps subsequently.

beencaughttrollin · 26/05/2025 23:58

TamaraHamiltonsEgg · 26/05/2025 15:26

She walloped him right in front of the staff. If you're running a country but getting abused at home, who's to say you won't end up running the place to keep your spouse happy?

Yes, I have it on very, very good (although unfortunately confidential, due to the international security implications) that Macron is massively in favour of turning over not just all of Ukraine but also the EU to that nice Mr. Putin, but Brigitte simply won't allow it.

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 27/05/2025 00:01

Sad to see how abused people are not believed first hand.

The excuses are sickening.

Highfivemum · 27/05/2025 00:01

This is not playful banter. She went at him with two hands in his face and he was not laughing. He was shocked. It is appaling behaviour and if she is like this on a plane what is she like in her own home. I hope he is ok

I found the look on his face upsetting too. The whole thing made me feel sick to be honest. I think many people will find it quite triggering and distressing.

midlandsmummy123 · 27/05/2025 00:12

He has said that they were joking around and he realises that the conspiracy theorists on mumsnet will have a field day.

Ebeneser · 27/05/2025 00:15

She's about 72 now. Might have early onset alzheimers. That can make you prone to aggression,
