And approximately how old are you?

I’m 40 and there were always multiple Kevins in a class.

In High school it was Kevin again for the boys and Fiona and Catherine for the girls. There were about 4 of each in my class.

I’m a year younger and the names were pretty much the same for me (I’m one of them)

sashh · 26/05/2025 04:54

Catherine in various spellings, there were 5 in my class at high school and another two or three in other classes.

There were also a couple of Kathleens - can you tell it was an RC girls' school?

I'm late 50s there were also a few with Tracy, Alison, Julie in their names, although it did seem like it was almost the law that your middle name was 'Louise'.

Reading the thread is very interesting. With people putting their ages, it shows the clear but steady changes of popular names through the decades.
Interesting how some names last the distance and others are very much of their time.
Born in the mid sixties, I have five friends named Alison. My own name is one that has remained popular, but I don't know anybody called Alison who is much younger or much older than me. I don't know why - it's a pretty name.
I'm curious to see whether the standard 60s names come round again, like the names of the war generations have.

Yes, the Elsies and Alfies must be about to move over now. The first ones will be nearly finishing high school.

Waiting for some baby Dianes, Wendys, Sharons, Colins, Alans.... and maybe Lee won't die out entirely.

PumpkinSpicePie · 26/05/2025 09:00

I'm mid 50s. There were loads of Carolines at my grammar school. 4 in one form. I still like the name now.
