Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after a lovely lie in. The kittens have been fed - no mountaineering this morning! - and the washer's on already with load 1 of 2 (maybe three if anyone wants anything in particular for our night away on Monday).

Todays plan is tidy round, nip into town with dd2 for trainers, come back and help dd2 pack. Depending what time it is then, I'll finish off my latest peg dolls before tea.

Dd1's going out out tonight so will spend the day slowly getting ready. She's not sure if her friend's staying here, or she's going there yet. I think she might come back here after anyway.

I have no idea what's for tea, maybe meatballs with spaghetti & garlic bread.

Later on it'll be showers for the rest of us then I'll carry on the crochet yeti I've been making - hopefully I'm right in my choice of hook size since it dropped out of my ball of yarn next to the other one I was using for something else!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I have had two coffees and a slice of toast. I'm waiting for a friend to arrive for second breakfast. Because of cataract surgery, I'm not driving yet so she's coming to my house for breakfast. I'm very fond of her but she will want to do things for me and she's very clumsy 😱. Hopefully my dishes will remain intact then we can blether til she's picked up. Afterwards I will tackle the dishes if I can persuade her to leave them. Salad and quiche for dinner

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 24/05/2025 09:51

I am finally admitting defeat and staying in bed, probably all day. I have glandular fever, I'm 4 weeks in and have been trying and trying to push through and it's really caught up to me now.

I'll probably still do some uni work in bed but apart from that, nothing. TV binge watch recommendations gladly received 😂

Lookingforwardto2025 · 24/05/2025 09:53

Morning all :)

I have been for a run and have set up the church for the weekly coffee morning which starts at 10. Then will take lunch to friend who has just had her hip replaced. Relax for a bit at home then another friend's 50th birthday party this evening. Really lovely day :)

Hope you have a nice restful day @iwentjasonwaterfalls

Escapingagain · 24/05/2025 09:57

I am being lazy I haven’t got up yet and it’s lovely! Quiet day with kids today. I plan to give my house a good clean and not leave the house! Life has been so busy lately but is calming now I’ve reached some deadlines. Going to make tuna pasta for tea cheap and easy! Might get back on the treadmill as I’ve been avoiding exercise due to my hectic schedule.

twistyizzy · 24/05/2025 10:03

Northumberland County Show to cheer on friends and get FOMO 😆
More Pimms will probably be consumed as have member tickets but weather isn't really Pimms weather!

lucysmam · 24/05/2025 10:05

@iwentjasonwaterfalls wishing you a restful day.

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand your friend sounds lovely. I do enjoy second breakfast 😋

Sounds like peaceful days all round so far 😊

Morning all. It's a very miserable day here after weeks of sunshine probably because it's a bank holiday weekend! After weeks of chores I've actually managed to get most of my to-do list completed so we can have a completely chilled couple of days. But I seem to have forgotten quite how to relax so that's my job for today! DH is making a lovely breakfast of bacon and mushroom bagels then we'll have a lazy morning of gaming, TV, crafting and anything else we fancy - maybe some Lego or baking. Lunch is a low rent smorgasbord of take away leftovers. Dinner is a bit posher as it's a shared birthday feast for me and DS so garlic butter scallops, salt baked beef and melting middle puddings. A day of proper sybaritic lolling about! Let's see if I can resist the urge to declutter the spare room!

ThomasShelbysfagend · 24/05/2025 10:07

Yesterday I booked a holiday abroad , we fly tomorrow so I’m packing.

Life my friends, is incredibly short and shit will kick the legs from under you at any moment so I thought fuck it!
Went to a travel agent and just did it.

Whooohooo! Excited!

chickenfordinner · 24/05/2025 10:11

Morning everyone!!! I never feel my day can properly start until I’ve found this thread 🤣🤣🤣

we are in Northumberland for half term week and after a really long drive up yesterday and arriving in the dark we’ve woken to sunshine and lovely views. Just having some breakfast then will go out exploring.

have home made lasagne for later which came with us from home and is still defrosting.

Hope everyone has a good day, whether that’s resting or anything else

Muchtoomuchtodo · 24/05/2025 10:14

Just back from the gym. 😇

Had planned to wash the towels and strip the beds but the weather’s not so good so it might have to be one of the other unless I admit defeat and use the tumble dryer which I hate doing, especially during the summer.

Meeting friends later for a cuppa

lucysmam · 24/05/2025 10:17

@ThomasShelbysfagend you are so right! Have a fabulous time. Where are you headed?

Morning @lucysmam and everyone here, I'm off today, in bed chilling, had my tea and toast, dh still asleep....unfortunately its wet outside, the good weather has finished 😔

Theoldwoman · 24/05/2025 10:21

Currently on a flight from Auckland (NZ) to Perth ( Australia) I was trying to sleep but my legs are restless.

Calypsocuckoo · 24/05/2025 10:26

Good morning all, I am still in bed scrolling mumsnet, I have had coffee and breakfast in bed. Will watch a bit of F1 today and potter about at home, I might start packing for my holiday. It’s not for two weeks but I want to try on some of last years summer clothes, and I will pack my toiletries bag with some lovely new bits I have bought, I love packing and the anticipation.
hope you all have a great day

DilemmaDelilah · 24/05/2025 10:26

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Good news!!!!! I no longer have toothache! For those of you that don't know, I've had toothache for a month and finally had a root canal filling last Monday. It's been a bit tender since then but I can now chew on that side... at last. And I no longer have headaches every day so they were obviously related to my toothache.

Mr Dilemma has been (voluntarily) doing good works all week, including on working on clearing out his shed. He is at the tip at the moment with a load of random stuff that had been dumped in there over the past 8 years or so. I have put some of the better and more useful things on Facebook for free, but they will go to charity or the tip if they're not claimed in the next week.

I have a wash on - it is a little disappointing that this is actually costing us a small amount in electricity, as over the past couple of weeks we have been in electricity credit due to beautiful sun and efficient solar panels, but our water butts were empty and we had to water every evening so it's actually very nice to have a little rain for a change.

I have NO particular plans for today. I may make another batch of cheese scones as I took the last two out of the freezer yesterday. I may also wrap the birthday presents for my sister and local daughter, because I have their presents and I enjoy wrapping, but there's no hurry as their birthdays aren't until the middle of June.

Which reminds me.... when Mr Dilemma gets home I need to remind him that it's his step-granddaughter's birthday in June. It's a fairly tenuous connection as she doesn't live with her father, Mr Dilemma's daughter died in 2019 and step-GD's father has now moved on with somebody else, so he may decide not to do anything about it this year. She hardly knows who we are anyway. We both deal with our own sides of the family when it comes to present buying/giving, but he does need to be reminded. After that, it's all up to him!

That sounds fab. Can i be really cheeky and ask how much it cost? We haven't been abroad for about 8 years and i honestly have no clue about costs now. All i know is its too expensive!
Please ignore me if youd rather not say.

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

Slow morning here after a crazy houseful of 11 year old girls yesterday. Dd went off to her dads last night, dp is working till 3pm and ds and I are just chilling at the moment. Tea and biscuits for breakfast Infront of the tv, very rare treat! Will make brunch of scrambled egg on toast soon then go for a couple of hours dog walk if the rain holds off. Will run the vac round then wash my hair and get ready as we are off out for steak tonight, can’t wait! After dinner we will more than likely carry on with our Star Wars marathon, Ds’ current obsession!

Have lovely Saturdays all.

Rainbow1235 · 24/05/2025 10:30

Morning to u all . Not great here as my dad has cancer as u know and they put a syringe driver in Thursday and said he’s only got a few days now . He’s home tho with us which I’m grateful for . My mother passed away in July and dad’s been so sad without her so I have some comfort knowing they will soon be back together 😔❤️. Sorry to be doom and gloom . Hope u all have a lovely long weekend and stay safe x

ssd · 24/05/2025 10:34

Having a very long lie in as skipped yoga this morning. Going to go to a big farmer's market thing nearby and then shopping. That's about it as far as plans go.

gingercat02 · 24/05/2025 10:51

Quiet morning here as we were put quite late last night.
We have had rain for the first time in weeks, so need to get put and see what is going on in the garden.
F1 qualifying and a bit of telly tonight.

Jamie's Sausage pasta for tea, with a hair of the dog 🍷

gingercat02 · 24/05/2025 10:52

So sorry @Rainbow1235

VioletIndigoBlueGreen · 24/05/2025 10:56

Quiet day here after a manic few weeks of GCSE exams. DH has taken DS to a music lesson and I’m at home “cleaning the kitchen” which I will actually do shortly after a bit more mumsnetting!

Later on I want to go to a garden centre to get some bedding plants, especially scented sweet peas if I can find some, as I want to grow them up an obelisk which has worked well in previous years. We finally had some rain here overnight, so the soil will be in a better state for bedding plants either today or tomorrow.

DS needs to tidy his room which is currently an avalanche of revision notes and study guides, and DH might add some handles to the new cupboards he’s been building in the garage.

Homemade burgers for dinner, then a couple of episodes of West Wing season 5 which is our current family viewing.

Hi, me & child under 12, all inclusive, 5 nights, airport transfers, flights, 5 star hotel just under £2k.

I am so so fortunate that I get bonus from my job so can either squirrel it away or go out and have a great time with my child while I can.
Dh & eldest are going on a hobby holiday at the same time so rather than sit at home we are off on an adventure the two of us.
