Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after a lovely lie in. The kittens have been fed - no mountaineering this morning! - and the washer's on already with load 1 of 2 (maybe three if anyone wants anything in particular for our night away on Monday).

Todays plan is tidy round, nip into town with dd2 for trainers, come back and help dd2 pack. Depending what time it is then, I'll finish off my latest peg dolls before tea.

Dd1's going out out tonight so will spend the day slowly getting ready. She's not sure if her friend's staying here, or she's going there yet. I think she might come back here after anyway.

I have no idea what's for tea, maybe meatballs with spaghetti & garlic bread.

Later on it'll be showers for the rest of us then I'll carry on the crochet yeti I've been making - hopefully I'm right in my choice of hook size since it dropped out of my ball of yarn next to the other one I was using for something else!

What about all of you? 🙂

Happy Half Term here. Well it is for me, as I'm off for the week. Son is studying for GCSEs so maybe not so happy upstairs 😂

Bathroom should have been finished last week but they'll be finishing on Tuesday and Wednesday now so I'm annoyed about that. I've rearranged my week to get my errands done on those days, and have a quiet weekend instead. Just need to come to terms with the messy house, I feel I can't relax! Keep telling myself it will be worth it...

I had a lovely long lie in then got woken by some dogs going crazy, so took mine out along the train track for a good hour. Feel justified in lying around for the rest of the day now. Just enjoying a pistachio coffee.

I've said I'll treat son to a takeaway tonight to treat him for all his hard work so far, looking forward to that!

Morning! Today once I pulled myself out of bed, I made some coffee and drank it in bed with husband. Then after breakfast, I cleaned the oven and the guest bathroom. Have guests staying next week so thought I’d get some of the dirtier jobs done today before washing my hair. Popped on some washing, now just waiting for my son’s friend to be dropped over by his dad. So a play date all afternoon, I’ll make some lunch and banana bread for them, need to sort the pile of clothes out and wash the bedding for the spare beds this afternoon too. Husband is out shopping, then once everyone’s home and play date is over, we’ll make a curry. I picked up some proper naans and popadoms from the Indian supermarket this week so it will be a bit of a feast. Then TV, maybe a movie… nothing too interesting!

DP went out around 8am and brought me a cup of tea in bed before he left so I lounged in bed until 11am listening to Radio 4, reading and messaging mates. Just having my fourth cup of tea now with some toast and marmalade. Will probably nip out for a walk over the park while I listen to an audiobook, feed the squirrels, take some photos.

Don’t know what I’ll do when I get back. I might do some writing, or I might do something else creative, or I might watch a film. I’m not really a planner.

DP’s not home until 7-8pm and we haven’t decided what we’ll have for tea. Probably not a takeaway as we had one last night. There’s Prosecco that needs using up in the fridge so I’ll probably make negroni sbagliatos.

@Rainbow1235

I'm very sorry to hear about your dad, what a terrible blow after losing your mum not so long ago.

I think your belief about them being together again is lovely though and I hope this gives you comfort at such a dark time.

Sending your family lots of love and light ❤️

Morning (afternoon!) all!

I was rudely awoken by upstairs neighbours moving furniture at 7am and refused to get up at that point. Instead I went back to sleep and woke up at 10…oops.

Still lounging around drinking coffee. DD is off to her best friend’s house in a bit for the afternoon, I’m going to do a good clean and then head to the gym, then for a coffee and to start my new book.

TV and probably a film with pasta and salad tonight.

Have a lovely day everyone.

VenusClapTrap · 24/05/2025 12:05

Sorry to hear that @Rainbow1235 .
Get well soon, @iwentjasonwaterfalls .

I was up early to go feed someone’s cats, but haven’t done much since then except MNing. Ds has gone into town with friends. It’s the first time they’ve done that unaccompanied, so he was very excited. His friend has been airtagged so his mum is spying on what they’re up to. I’ll be very interested to see where they go for lunch, as ds is keen to splash birthday money on nice food, but friend has told me he’s saving up for a specific Lego set so he’s keen to keep it cheap. Neither is very good at compromise.

Dd is revising, dh has gone to do the supermarket. I need to get my arse in gear now and start the laundry. Then I might pot on some seedlings in the greenhouse.

Thislittlekitten · 24/05/2025 12:12

Afternoon all.

Had a busy morning in town picking up bits then had breakfast.

Heading to the swimming pool
now. Not been for ages.

DH cooking pork tonight so looking forward to that. Not much planned after that. Might also sit in garden and read my new book with the dog.

MyKingdomForACat · 24/05/2025 12:18

One load of washing neatly finished. Quiet day today (hopefully) ready for league one play off final tomorrow.

Sourisblanche · 24/05/2025 12:32

I’m rainy-day decluttering. It’s very satisfying when you’re in the right mood. So far I’ve done my bedroom, bathroom and airing cupboard. Found some nice face masks that I got for my birthday (last year!) so I will give one a go later.

@Rainbow1235 sorry to hear about your dad, and so soon after losing your mum. I lost my mum last year and I’m still finding things very hard.

mamaduckbone · 24/05/2025 12:40

Not quite morning but happy Saturday @lucysmam and all.

I've had a busy morning - up early for my weekly run and chat, then to the hairdressers for 10 and a bit of birthday present shopping - I enjoyed choosing some craft bits for my twin great-niece and nephew who turned 6 last week.

Chilling for an hour now with a cup of tea before heading over to my brother's for a get-together. My dsis is visiting from Germany for a few days so it will be her, Dbro and SIL, nephew, his wife and the twins and my mum. We'll drink tea, eat too much and play with the little ones, so it will be nice and relaxed, which is needed after a very stressful and busy couple of weeks. Ds15 is yet to decide if he's coming. Dh might head over a bit later and bring him along in time for food. I

We won't be late back as we're heading off early in the morning to collect ds1 from uni - first year done!

Natsku · 24/05/2025 12:45

I've been doing a bit of tidying up today. I sorted through DS's board games to pick out the ones he's outgrown to give away, and then we played a game he got for Christmas from MIL that hadn't been touched yet - a learning game to teach Finnish starting syllables as although he can read at sentence in Finnish he isn't so great at recognising the different syllables (which is a step of reading he has to do in school). Was good practice for me too!

He and OH have been playing football, and now they're playing minecraft together. DD is still asleep, despite me waking her up twice to ask her to watch X Files with me. Lazy child.

I plan on doing some more tidying up and organising today and drink some wine tonight. No plans to do anything this weekend which is nice, we can just all chill.

Zippedydodah · 24/05/2025 18:22

Good evening @lucysmam , I have totally lost track of what day it is …..
A lovely early dog walk then I spent the morning doing housework- there’s a pile of ironing waiting for me - and tidying up.
Just back from walking the dogs individually, DH is tired apparently despite spending today watching crappy crime programmes on the television 😵‍💫.
Tomorrow I will take the dogs out early, then crack on with the ironing before spending some time doing my watercolour painting in peace and quiet.
Sending you a hug @Rainbow1235 , that’s really tough. I lost both of my parents within three months of each other during lockdown, it was a really hard time.

Thanks @ThomasShelbysfagend , that sounds lovely, have a great time🤗
