Annoying 'Sure' advert

Orangesandlemons77 · 23/05/2025 17:27

Does anyone else find the Sure ad really annoying- the one which goes "Brits, tell us about your bits?" then goes on to say we need a deodorant for these 'bits'?

As well as not wanting to see it, I think it is trying to create a problem where there is none...if people had a daily shower surely they would not need to put deodorant on all these "bits" - underarms yet but not the others.

It just really annoys me.

There are several really annoying adverts at present. That is certainly one of them.

TwilightZoneRose · 23/05/2025 17:38

I guess it might help some people with smelly feet, but other than that probably only necessary for underarms.

NeedForSpeed · 23/05/2025 17:38

Annoying, no. Weird, yes.

I don't think I'll be adding spray antiperspirant chemicals to my nether regions, thanks.

You'd think it might sting, right? I wouldn't either.

It's so crude, depicting sweaty balls, no thank you. I think its awful, but then ads seem to have no standards. I saw the domino's pizza one yesterday the pizza arrives too quickly. It's a funny concept, but this one showed a guy shaving his pubic area. What on earth are they trying to prove, they sell pizza!

TinyTempest · 23/05/2025 17:47

It's pretty gross - YANBU.

Also hate the Andrex adverts.

We really don't need to hear people farting just before they go for a shit.

Stinging would only be an issue in open wounds or damaged skin.

I'm more concerned about long term problems or may create - ie talcum powder being linked to cancer.

GotToWearShades · 23/05/2025 17:53

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this. I saw another add where someone was putting some kind of deodorant on before going to bed. Another thing I'd never do

CancelTheSkip · 23/05/2025 18:03

The Lynx "lower body" one is even worse.

People getting up close and personal sniffing strangers' genitals and arses.

I think it is also a Sure one where people are spraying on their deodorant whilst fully dressed. Bizarre.

I don't like those either- pretty grim

I remember the days when I was a child and I thought the Sure adverts were so glamorous! Sure, it won’t let you down!

I agree and sadly reflects the society we live in today.

TheHateIsNotGood · 23/05/2025 18:26

It annoys me too and I think that the advertising crew have run out of ideas in marketing one of many bog-standard brands. What better way than to pitch to people who never thought of their balls, bum crack, etc bits as stinky and who now wonder if they should buy a product to combat their imaginary problem.

Fairtoggoodoccasionallypoor · 23/05/2025 18:32

I agree there are lots of annoying, cringy ads at the moment. Also why are they now using red liquid instead of blue to demonstrate sanitary products? Nothing is left to the imagination anymore! And most of the ads put me off my dinner!

andtheworldrollson · 23/05/2025 18:35

They need to create problems to sell more because it’s not enough to make enough money to cover your costs and protect the future of your business - it has to demonstrate growth at all times - a physical impossibility demanded by the economic market in which we live

and it needs to get more and more shocking as we get more and more disengaged by the tactics

SpottedDonkey · 23/05/2025 18:38

“Free problem with every solution!” That’s capitalism, I’m afraid.

I don’t blame the corporates, or the marketers who are just trying to earn a living by creating demand for ever more pointless crap. I blame the gullible idiots who buy into it.

Orangesandlemons77 · 23/05/2025 18:48

I was just online and saw one (not Sure) with a bus ad which said

"I thought I had thrush I didn't realise it was a dry floof(?)"

Lovely.

This kind of thing makes me glad that I rarely watch TV. On the odd occasion I'm at DM's and she's watching some show the adverts make me want to switch off. Not seen these ones they seem awful.

Good grief, absolutely not. Me neither!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 23/05/2025 19:11

@SpottedDonkey surely the media who purchased and broadcast these ads are the ones responsible? They don't enforce any standards.

Judiezones · 23/05/2025 19:16

What about the Lynx one for below the waist, where people smell someone else's bum and crotch? Yuk!

The Andrex one must have been written by a 10 year old

Orangesandlemons77 · 23/05/2025 19:37

Do they see one 'gross' advert and think 'we'll do one of them' or something?

There's a new Andrex ad with a child farting and pooing at school
