Bowel prep motivation

soddingblimey · 21/05/2025 21:20

Any words of motivation welcome, I am struggling! Tired, want a cup of tea with milk, hungry and I have a litre of this rank stuff to go yet
also now terrified of the operation

it’s a gynae operation so doesn’t need to be perfect prep but I want to get it as good as I can

It's just got to be done quite frankly.

Frasmac · 21/05/2025 21:32

It's tough but temporary! Do it as well as you can otherwise you'll risk half assing it and have to do it all again

I do know that Confused
just asking for some motivation while I’m home alone throwing up and trying to get the last litre down so I can sleep before getting up at 6am
Waited over 18 months for this surgery but I physically can’t get more liquid down me now

Okay, so blunt doesn't work 😂

It's been an 18-month wait. This is the final step really. You want max results and the best healing after so follow all the steps. You do your side properly and trust they'll do the best on their side. It's 1L - whether it takes 5 minutes or 35 minutes that is nothing compared to 18 months! You can do it.

Try sipping a palatable drink between sips of the prep - I got mine down alongside a litre bottle of Lilt.

PoodlesRUs · 21/05/2025 21:45

In less than 9 hours op day will be here! It really is the last bit. You could be in bed in an hour :)

ItsOvaRover · 21/05/2025 21:45

What's it meant to do? And what surgery if you don't mind me asking? I've had gynae surgery but didn't need this. On the waiting list for colorectal team now though so wondering what might be round the corner 🤢

Good luck though OP. You can do it!!

I’ve gone for lemonade but feel like I’m sloshing about now Grin
watching code of silence while I pace about sipping

If you’re vomiting up the prep then it might not be working. Make sure you take it slowly

YinYangalang · 21/05/2025 21:47

People pay thousands for bowel cleansing but you are getting it for free. Hope that helps!

Ooh typing this out could keep me distracted! Specialist endo surgeon and centre

excision of endo from bowel, bladder, rectum and we’ll, everywhere
removal of adhesions from rectum and separating ovaries as tied together
removal of 2 endometriomas
possible removal of one ovary
Ureterolysis

i think that’s it. If it all goes tits up they’ll take both ovaries or open hysterectomy . I’ve said take as much as needed but as little as possible

Quite a few bits n bobs getting done. You don't want a wee bit o' poo getting in the way!

It's a heavy duty laxative to empty the entire colon.

If it's clear but pale yellow then the remaining colour is likely bile and you've done what you need to do.

Oooh, I had that, plus the hysterectomy and oophorectomy. It was worth the bowel prep to emerge with my bowel intact - I'd been told there was a one in 80 chance of it being perforated when the adhesions were separated.

She seemed more bothered about my bladder but I’ve asked them to go conservatively around there
the right ovary chocolate cyst is the one that’s an issue as it’s about 12cm now

Don't really have anything helpful to add, but good luck with it all.

Mine was 8cm. I was happy just to have everything out after years of pain. I hope it goes well for you tomorrow!

Jojobees · 21/05/2025 22:16

Are you under St Marks? I’m seeing them next week for a similar pathway.
