I'm in my kitchen spot, with my first cuppa of the day. Dd1's sat opposite me with a cuppa and a glass of water after going out out last night. She actually sounds really alert for someone who got in at 2:30am & certainly got her money's worth out of the £15 wristband!

Dd2's up too - I popped my head into her bedroom to retrieve something & she was in dd1's room! Her bedroom's a shithole so she needs to tidy that today, before meeting another friend for a walk.

I'll pop the washer on with the towels in & wash up. Maybe shove the hoover round too or get one of the girls to do that.

I'm nipping to Lidl for strawberries and tomatoes - by the time we got to the market yesterday, they'd sold out of both. Tbf, we were later than we usually would be & the weather's glorious!

Not much else planned really, maybe some reading, maybe some crafting, maybe just sit in the garden & ignore the world! We'll see.

Roast chicken, roast spuds and salad for tea with a bottle of Koppaberg for me. Then Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower followed by painting my toenails and applying false tan - maybe not in that order 🤔. Although probably doesn't matter - I bought tan wipes so hopefully easy to do myself!

What about all of you? 🌞

Meeting my sister and a friend for a walk and brekkie. Cutting the grass. Pottering.

TheGirlWhoLived · 11/05/2025 09:16

Morning started very early as ds got me up before 6. Have had a relax with a bit of peppa pig and coffee until now. Sent DD1 off to her Duke of Edinburgh trial expedition, going to be a warm one! Got her last bits packed and she’s ready to go

DD2 has sats starting tomorrow so might try and coerce her into a bit of last minute practice, but want to get out to the park before it gets too warm this morning and get nice salad bits for lunch from Tesco.

DS1 is on the iPad but will try and get him off that in a while and do something crafty I think until he goes on Minecraft after lunch! Planning burritos for dinner so want to make a tasty pico de gallo to go with the beef mince and got guacamole to make too!

Then standard Sunday jobs (couple of loads of washing and ironing) ready for school

GameOfJones · 11/05/2025 09:17

Morning all!

DD2 had a nightmare last night so I had a broken night's sleep after I got into bed with her to calm her down. I've had a coffee and been reading my new book this morning. We're all still in our pyjamas so need to get dressed soon.

I've hung the washing on the line and watered all the pots before the day gets any hotter.

DD1 has a dance lesson this afternoon so DH is taking her to that and I'll take DD2 out on her bike. I need to pop to the supermarket to get chips and peppercorn sauce as I have steaks in the fridge and fancy them for dinner.

Other than that, DDs need to do their homework but I think it'll be a pottering sort of day.

GreenDogDot · 11/05/2025 09:18

Long day out with the dog and baby yesterday so a slow start today. Need to empty the car and sort all their detritus out then a day of pottering in the garden. It’s forecast to throw it down late afternoon (but still be 24°!) so I’m planning to do the planting then let the rain do the watering in, lazy girl gardening!

LilDeVille · 11/05/2025 09:18

Morning! Have cleaned kitchen after leaving it last night which feels good. Just helped DS with his piano practise and DH will take him to lesson in a sec. Other DS lying on sofa as been puking since yesterday. Will take well DS and DD to park this afternoon to catch up with a friend.

Whattheduck · 11/05/2025 09:19

OneLilacEagle · 11/05/2025 09:19

Early start for us today after a very disturbed night. Our missing cat returned after 30 hours away completely nonplussed and ravenous at 3.00 this morning. So much rejoicing in the middle of the night and much less sleep than needed. Very glad as we're taking DS for his birthday treat today and worrying about the cat would definitely have put a dent in it. We're off to a nearby island to visit some alpacas and other animals. So glad we have the weather for it! Piripiri chicken when we get home. Happy Sunday all.

BeachRide · 11/05/2025 09:20

Cornwall. Watching the rain.

Zippedydodah · 11/05/2025 09:25

‘Morning all! A gloriously sunny morning here, I am enjoying a coffee with ZDog2 snoring beside me after our early walk. DH is supposed to be walking Zdog1 but for some obscure reason he’s vacuuming upstairs 😳😵‍💫, wtf is going on!
have a pile of ironing to do then I will be heading for my Shed for most of the day to do some pastels and crocheting in peace and quiet 😊
Slow roast chicken and new potatoes with salad for dinner 😋

MeMyselfandMN · 11/05/2025 09:35

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. This is my favourite thread series on MN.

I'm having my coffee and mooching around MN. Soon I will make breakfast for DH (I'm not having any today as I feel bloated/uncomfortably full for some reason - can't think why, except for the joys of middle age/peri menopause, yay! - and I'd rather give my system a break).

We are going out today to enjoy the beautiful weather. I will make a picnic to take along, just a simple one as opposed to the fancy ones I used to make with finger sandwiches, lovingly prepared salads and biscuits or cake and packed in an actual hamper. These days I can't be arsed so it'll be Tupperware in a backpack; an egg sandwich for DH, some grapes, a packet of crisps, a biscuit and a flask of tea. I likely won't eat lunch because the way I'm feeling I won't want to eat until dinner.

Later I will do a tidy up/clear out of my bedside drawers.

We'll also call my daughters for a chat.

Dinner will be pasta for DH and probably a soup for me, although I'm not sure - I'll see how I feel by dinner time. We were going to have a roast, but it's been nudged to tomorrow.

Other than that, not much - I've been ill for a month and am on antibiotics to finally hopefully clear it, so mostly just resting and relaxing.

Have a lovely day everyone!

DilemmaDelilah · 11/05/2025 09:36

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I've had a run of sleepless nights so I took a pill last night and, consequently, had such a brilliant night that I have only just had my breakfast in bed and have not managed to be up and dressed by 9am, as per my new retirement regime. Mr Dilemma tells me it's not a problem as it is Sunday, to which I reply that there is no such thing as 'a Sunday' when you're retired! Mr Dilemma is an early riser, he has his own health problems and he is 7 years older than me, so he needs a nap by the afternoon. My own preference is to sleep in late and then, hopefully, to manage without a nap in the afternoon but then I would hardly see him, hence my new regime and needing a nap myself. It is important that we are able to spend time together even if we choose not to!

Mr Dilemma has already done one coat of paint over the main bits that needed doing in the new small spare room/former office, so well done him! Later on I will have a proper look to see where he has missed bits and will ensure that the room, and particularly the floor, is clean and dust free before the carpet fitters come tomorrow. Other than that - the only thing on the plan for today is to make a batch of apricot flapjacks for our delivery drivers/postpeople. I make a big batch and store them in the freezer, putting out a few at a time (well wrapped) with some bottles of water in a box on our doorstep.

We had a lovely meal of roast beef yesterday evening, all cooked (but not prepared) by Mr Dilemma. He likes cooking a roast so I'm happy to leave it to him. There isn't really enough left over for tonight, so we're having beefburgers in buns this evening. I've bought some nice tomatoes and other stuff to go with them - they will be delicious! I may even do an apple or plum crumble for pudding.... I have lots of cooked apple in the freezer I prepared last autumn.

I will be up and dressed by 10.00!

CharSiu · 11/05/2025 09:40

Going out for a hike with friends, DH is at home painting the hallway. Quick bit of shopping on the way home. Proof reading the first part of DS Undergraduate dissertation. I used to proofread as part of my old job and am unbelievably harsh.

I am sorting out a small cupboard after that and then FaceTiming an old friend from my college days.

Early evening dinner outside, making chicken. chorizo and veg skewers.

Yamadori · 11/05/2025 09:41

Said Bon Voyage to our relative who has been to stay. DH is taking her to catch her train, and I'm drinking coffee.

Later I'm going to Lidl to buy some of their very reasonably-priced salmon for dinner.

Wash on, and cats asleep on my bed.

I also need to water my pomegranate seedlings which are in a propagator on the kitchen windowsill. I planted about 20 seeds and 7 have sprouted already. Very pleased about that, as they are from a fruit from my own little tree, which spent the winter indoors and is now back outside for the summer months.

Natsku · 11/05/2025 09:44

It's Mother's Day here in Finland so I'm enjoying a lie in, and soon I'll get up and open my present front DS. I expect DD is still asleep so I'll open hers later. She has to make me a snack today for her Home Ec homework so I'm looking forward to that.

I plan to spend the day doing as little as possible, just relaxing and enjoying my day.

HelpMeGetThrough · 11/05/2025 09:44

It’s raining here in Cornwall, has been since at least 3am when I went to get a coffee and painkillers.

I was going to weed the gravel in the back “garden” but that’s off the list. I’ll bang another coat of paint on the doorframe and that’s the dining room done (quite pleased with myself, walls and woodwork done in just under 2 days). Did all the silicone in the bathroom yesterday, but forgot to fix the ball valve in the cistern, so will get that done. Lowering the ball should do it, if not it’s a new one, so that’ll have to wait.

Going to have an afternoon of doing nothing.

Yamadori · 11/05/2025 09:45

Ooh! Just had a look at the pomegranate seedlings and number 8 has appeared overnight!

twistyizzy · 11/05/2025 09:52

Was poo picking 2 fields at 7am while it was cool then just pottering around clearing up after BBQ last night.
DH taking dog out again and then I will be glued to the SJ at Badminton on their live stream.
DD has revision to do for end of year exams which start next Saturday + we are popping to my parents for afternoon tea.
Basically a lovely chilled day!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 11/05/2025 09:52

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I'm sorry for the Cornwall posters but I suppose rain is needed. We're heading into drought territory in central Scotland which is unusual!
Today I've had two coffees, a cuppa and a slice of toast. I've watered the garden and tidied up the kitchen. It didn't take long as it's just me. Currently I'm listening to Radio 3 and scrolling. I'm contemplating another cuppa before I potter outside. Later I have a Tesco delivery coming. After that, I'll wash floors. Meat pie and chips for dinner. Enjoy your day

Crunchymum · 11/05/2025 10:06

Happy Sunday lucysmam and the Sunday crew.

Beautiful weather here again today, expecting 26c.

Just waiting for food shopping to arrive then I'm going to make a picnic and we are off the the woods. We're meeting a friend and her children and dog.

We'll head home via the adventure playground just by the woods and then this evening will be showers / homework / ironing uniform.

Plan something light and easy for dinner, probably pesto baked chicken breasts and potato salad, along with salad salad.

Early night all round as the coming week is a busy one.

Thislittlekitten · 11/05/2025 10:13

Good Morning all.

What a glorious morning in north east Scotland! We are not used to this 😂

Im in the garden having a cup of tea then will make breakfast for me and DS.
DD in bed and DH away.

Meeting family at 1 for a wee walk with the dog then back to mine for cake and ice lollies.

Pork for tea tonight and usual uniforms pack lunches. Actually I need to pick up some bits.

A bit of studying then early night I hope.

I've been busy already - one load of laundry done and hung out, another load in. Made a massive stack of waffles for breakfast this morning and extras for breakfast in the week. Washed up. Taken DS to junior parkrun and have some meal prep stuff in the oven. Phew!

DH currently out for a long run, and when back he'll be painting our living room. I might take DS out on his bike or if not I'll go for a walk alone. Collecting DD from her residential late afternoon. Roast chicken, new potatoes and salad for tea. Then I'm off to see a play at the local theatre with my mum this evening. Reading all that it sounds a bit full on!
