I'm in my kitchen spot, with my first cuppa of the day. Dd1's sat opposite me with a cuppa and a glass of water after going out out last night. She actually sounds really alert for someone who got in at 2:30am & certainly got her money's worth out of the £15 wristband!

Dd2's up too - I popped my head into her bedroom to retrieve something & she was in dd1's room! Her bedroom's a shithole so she needs to tidy that today, before meeting another friend for a walk.

I'll pop the washer on with the towels in & wash up. Maybe shove the hoover round too or get one of the girls to do that.

I'm nipping to Lidl for strawberries and tomatoes - by the time we got to the market yesterday, they'd sold out of both. Tbf, we were later than we usually would be & the weather's glorious!

Not much else planned really, maybe some reading, maybe some crafting, maybe just sit in the garden & ignore the world! We'll see.

Roast chicken, roast spuds and salad for tea with a bottle of Koppaberg for me. Then Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower followed by painting my toenails and applying false tan - maybe not in that order 🤔. Although probably doesn't matter - I bought tan wipes so hopefully easy to do myself!

What about all of you? 🌞

Morning all! I worked an extra day yesterday and missed the sunshine, so will be mostly sat in the garden today!

We're in the throes of GCSE season, with English and Computers tomorrow. I taught English super briefly so he did computers while I was out yesterday so I can help him with English today. And the obligatory hourly snacks 😅

Bathroom work starts this week so need to make sure it's all clear ready to go! Excited but hate the actual work so I'll be a miserable cow all week 😂

DilemmaDelilah · 11/05/2025 10:24

Oh dear.... The first 'discussion' of the day has already happened. Mr Dilemma asked me earlier what I was planning to do and what he could do to make that happen. I said I was going to clean the room and could be please empty it first.

Then I dared to suggest that it would be a good idea to get all the 'dirty' work done before I cleaned the room. We need the wire for the overhead wall light fixed, which involves putting in a cable clip or two and drilling a couple of holes, before rewiring the plug (something simple that I can do). That went down relatively well, but he hadn't cleared out any of his tools from the room so I, presumptively, took it upon myself to start to do so. No - apparently he needs ALL the tools to do that simple little job. He needs the grip fill, the tools for the grip fill, the laser level, the 2 spirit levels, the handful of assorted screws, the masking tape, the paint brushes, the paint stirring sticks etc etc. I had carefully left out the 2 screwdrivers, the pencil, the box of cable clips - everything I thought he would need (the drill was downstairs).

No - apparently he needs ALL those tools. And they all need to be strewn all over the room. He is at present stomping around downstairs finding all the additional tools he needs for that simple little job (reminder - cable clipping the wire to the wall, removing the plug to the light, drilling a hole in the wooden top to the box over the head of the stairs, putting the wire through the hole, drilling another hole in the plasterboard side of the box over the head of the stairs, putting the cable through it, fitting another cable clip, rewiring the plug), while telling me I won't be able to do any cleaning for another couple of hours. Even I could do it quicker than that! And then I will need to remove all the tools, and paint, he has left in there before I can clean.

I'm off to make the flapjacks.

DinoLil · 11/05/2025 10:26

Good morning all!

I've checked up on all of my surgery recovering friends, they're all doing well. Doggo has been walked before it gets too warm.

@lucysmamyou've reminded me that I was going to make myself a roast today! Thank you. I never bother when it's just me but I've got a pork crackling joint and some Aunt Bessie's so doggo and I will have a feast later.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Morning all. I just woke up after going out last night with friends, so that’s thrown my day off a bit.

i need to decide whether to have a day doing all the things I should - some work, some diy, go for a run etc.

or….. a much needed day off in front of the telly! I’m a bit all or nothing so even the idea of a morning of work and an afternoon off doesn’t work in my head.

the weather is glorious here but I don’t have a garden, and not sure I can face the outside work enough to go sit in the park. I’ve been around people too much recently!

zingally · 11/05/2025 10:28

Washing is on - giving my giant oodie it's annual wash! 😂
Had an early morning potter in the garden - the daily peer into the pots to see what's been be happening - everything grows so quickly this time of year!
Plan for the rest of the morning is to knock out the chores - I need to print some bits for my tutoring business, hoover and mop downstairs, and the kitchen badly needs a wipe down.
But then planning a quiet afternoon reading in the garden!

JudgeBread · 11/05/2025 10:28

I'm embarrassed to say I'm lying on my sofa with a cold pad on my forehead and a big glass of berocca because I slightly overdid it on the wine last night. It was date night and we were having such a laugh I completely forgot I'm a lightweight. Why didn't I get hangovers like this in my twenties when I'd stay out until 4am eyeball shotting battery acid and dancing with inappropriate men?

Thankfully the plan for today is to do fuck all. I may pour myself from sofa to garden shortly to try and coax some vitamin D into my poor body.

RabbitsRock · 11/05/2025 10:40

Good morning @lucysmam & the Sunday gang. DilemmaDelilah how lovely to leave out treats for the delivery drivers/posties! Now I really fancy an apricot flapjack! In bed munching on the last of the Easter chocolate (orange mini eggs). They should be with a cuppa but I wasn’t keen on the milky one DH made earlier. Actually not a big orange fan! I woke around 4.30 in pain & discomfort but it was so uplifting to hear the dawn chorus. Went on my phone for a bit then dropped off again until around 9. No plans for today. Need to check if we have any double cream as we’re having bangers, mash & baked beans for tea. Lovely peppery Cumberland sausages. Which reminds me, I need to buy an electric salt & pepper grinder to help whilst my arm is out of action. Will contact DF as he had to call an ambulance for DM last night. Luckily she didn’t have to go to hospital. Things are getting worse with her Parkinson’s 😢

Stuckinhospital · 11/05/2025 11:07

Just looking out my hospital room window!
Going to see if the ward will let me have a little wonder downstairs shortly as I fancy a caramel shortcake from Costa.

I’m now also in my sofa feeling similar. I didn’t over do it but a day in the sun with an iced coffee, a Coke Zero, and three G&Ts does not a hydrated person make!

potplants · 11/05/2025 11:30

I woke at 10am.
Now waiting dor Iceland delivery to arrive.
Then i will spend the rest of the day chilling and doing nothing.

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 11/05/2025 11:34

On my way to the Beigel bakery for a salmon & cream cheese beigel, then after that Waitrose in Shepherd's Bush because my local Sainsbury's (or any Sainsbury's) do not stock some ingredients needed for DD's veggie dinners. (We don't eat fake meat, only stuff I recognise). Then as my veggie DD isn't home today I'm starting a slow cooked meat spaghetti Bolognese which will be a treat.

outlanderish · 11/05/2025 11:35

Currently sunbathing with our doxie! DP got sloshed last night so is hanging out his arse in the sofa and we've got a friend over doing some carpentry in our spare room. At 2 my lovely friend has invited a group of us over for a roast dinner and then drinks on the beach so looking forward to that!

Tearsinheavens · 11/05/2025 11:49

I have washed up hoovered and put a wash on. Had a decaf coffee lots of water and a slice of toast.

Plan was to have a lovely lunch of lamb chops (for me) salmon (for DH) with new potatoes but it's so glorious out there I am tempted to throw together a picnic with the salmon, some boiled egg, mayo, prosciutto and the new potatoes and go across the road to the the park to eat it. Sometimes the idea of that is better than the reality isn't it. Either way I have a tub if ice cream in the freezer that is getting devoured this afternoon!

Later on a slow evening planned with some waitrose chicken tikka kebabs and wine! Maybe watch last night's Handmaid's tale but it's the night we normally spend apart at the weekend doing our own thing but we both like that show so we shall see.

It really is a beautiful day, I've got the radio on and feel relaxed and happy which isn't always easy for me.

Enjoy your Sundays everyone. 🙂

bnmshortcut · 11/05/2025 12:21

DH has took the kids to the park and I’m giving the house a big clean and getting all the washing sorted. I love cleaning on days like today, the windows are open, my music is on and I can have a break from the kids!.

lucysmam · 11/05/2025 12:34

@DilemmaDelilah all that did make me laugh! Of course he needs ALL the tools out to do the small job he's doing 🤣

We've been to Lidl, the second load of towels is washing & I've got pink dye on my hair. Dd1's just preparing avocado on toast for lunch while that sits for an hour then I'll wash it out & see if I look like a twirp!

I'll get dd to pin my trousers before washing out the dye probably, then hem them when it's done.

In hospital next to my little girl who had to use her first epipen last night. She was much more brave than I was. Feeling traumatised.

OhMyGiddyAunt · 11/05/2025 12:47

I'm home alone this weekend as everyone else is away so having a very chilled time.

I made sure all the housework was done by the time they left early yesterday morning, other than the washing which I washed and dried 3 loads of yesterday in between sitting outside in the sun. Pottered around the garden a bit too, potting up some bedding plants.

A friend is coming round this afternoon for a catch up ...may even have an afternoon drink with her

DilemmaDelilah · 11/05/2025 13:13

@lucysmam I shouldn't get so exasperated! Anyway - he has come downstairs for lunch and has told me that he has done everything, including the hoovering! He came down earlier to ask me to check whether there was anywhere else that needed a paint touch up.... there were several, quite noticeable, places. I would love to think that when I go up the room will be empty and pristine so that I can, quite legitimately, tell him what a wonderful job he has done and how pleased I am.... but I know that there will still be tools strewn all over the place which will need moving, and cleaning under, before tomorrow morning. I daren't move them myself but he is very unlikely to do it.... I despair!

Mr Dilemma does so much for me - but it does tend to be half a job rather than the whole job. Apparently I am too picky! Maybe I am, but I would rather have 1 job done properly, than 5 jobs not finished.

Anyway, the flapjacks are done and cooled so I'm about to cut them into portions. Later on they will be wrapped in cling film and stored in the freezer.

Good afternoon @lucysmam (and all). Your day sounds like the perfect Sunday to me.

DH and I were up relatively early this morning, had bacon croissants in bed. I've not been sleeping well so I'm still shattered.

So far I've planned next week's lessons, cleaned the bathroom and baked some fresh bread rolls for lunches. DH has cleaned the bedroom, stripped the bed, cleaned the ensuite & living room and put a shelf up in DS1s room. He's now had some lunch and gaming for a bit this afternoon.

DS1 has gone out with his best friend. It was his first week at work ever this week, and he's thoroughly enjoyed his first ever pay packet! He was shattered yesterday though and fell asleep at 9!

DS2 has been gaming, as per, and avoiding the shower. He needs to tidy his room later and make sure he's ready for next week. He has ASD and is 13, so very tricky at the moment - even breathing the 'wrong' way around him is a terrifying prospect.

DD is also in her room. She's year 6, so it's been a stressy time recently. We've been encouraging her to relax and chill over the weekend. She helped make bread yesterday and we played some board games and she went riding. Today, we're leaving her to fester in silence.

I'm about to log off and do the Ocado shop for next week, then I might play The Sims for a bit, then an everything shower and bed. I bought a LookFantastic box this month for the first time - I was influenced by MN - and it came with a tiny tube of face mask which is so cute! So I'm going to do that too whilst reading in bed.

I love Sunday, but I hate the Sunday scaries I get these days. Roll on July!

Tinatubby73 · 11/05/2025 13:54

Working a 12 hourshift

Eccythumpy · 11/05/2025 13:57

Work, but finishing soon.
Then a nice long dogwalk and hopefully a facetime call with my granddaughter this evening.

HelpMeGetThrough · 11/05/2025 17:01

Well, I got the painting done and I think I’ve fixed the cistern.

There was an “oh bollocks, I think I’ve made it worse” moment, but think I got away with it.

OH went out this afternoon, so I got a couple of episodes of Wheeler Dealers watched.

I know how to live life in the edge!! 🤣

lucysmam · 11/05/2025 17:46

Well, the ends of my hair have a nice pink tint to them...the roots ...not so much 🤷‍♀️. So now I have a fuzzy mess of regrowth with pretty pink in places ffs 🙄. I really don't want to bleach so guess that's that!

We've just eaten & are having ten before tidying up, washing up, washing in off the line, and showers all round apart from dd1. I need to decide whether to hair wash or not now 🤔

Evening all.
Lovely day here, but a cool breeze, that's the NE coast for you!
Piyo class this morning, then one of your scrubby everything showers @lucysmam. Shaved, exfoliated, moisturised, fake tanned. Summer ready lol
We have just had our first bbq, eaten and cleared away. Watching the end of the Liverpool Arsenal game and then bakewell tart and cream for pud.
