Do you hang your pants on the washing line?

I’m very fortunate to live in an ex/council property and we all have big gardens with those old fashioned high up pulley washing lines.

I also have a rotary line just because it’s a bit quicker and easier getting stuff out/in.

I peg my pants on the rotary because they aren’t so visible. Baring in mind my pants are just bog standard black or white bikini briefs.

NDN today has got a whole load of glorious, pastel and yooooooge pants fluttering on the high line. Hoisted for half of the village to admire. Think of the pants yer nan maybe wore in the 80s.

i don’t know if she’s a brazen hussy or am I just a massive prude.

I don't think you're fat-shaming, OP. I get what you meant.

I'm a huge prude in other ways but I hang out my knickers (all types) without a second thought.

CurlewKate · 11/05/2025 08:06

I presume you don’t hang up nappies either? I mean-they cover babies’ bottoms…..

I don't - more because I can't be bothered with all the fiddly bits, so I throw them in the tumble.

Yes this. Hang out the big stuff. Pants and socks in the tumbler

Our clothes line is probably overlooked by at least two houses but I don't think there's anything I wouldn't hang on there - knickers, boxers etc. I wasn't embarrassed buying them so why would it be a problem to hang them up?

NattyTurtle59 · 11/05/2025 08:36

Yes I hang them on the line, and I couldn't care less who sees them. Anyone walking past can probably see them if they care to look. My neighbour sometimes mows my lawn when they are on the line.

Sorry OP, you are a prude.

StarlightLady · 11/05/2025 15:18

I’ve also got 2 suspender belts on the line. Will l face the firing squad? 🤭

Tulipsontoast · 11/05/2025 15:20

No one can see my line so it doesn’t matter what I put on it but I would hang out my underwear regardless of what people thought.

minnienono · 11/05/2025 15:23

I hang mine, so what!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 11/05/2025 15:25

My granny pants are on the line yes. You’d hate me. I also hang my washable period pads on the line too 😀

Topseyt123 · 11/05/2025 15:25

I actually remember when Google Earth first began putting up aerial photos of areas (many years ago now). They used satellites.

On one of ours I could see that I had left washing out on the line. DH's boxers and my pants were visible in a surprising amount detail from space. 🤣🤣

I have no shits about it at all.

BedlingtonLover · 11/05/2025 15:27

Yep, as do all my neighbours. They’re just pieces of cloth - no big deal.

WildBalonz · 11/05/2025 17:54

Yes I hang my knickers on the line and I don’t care if anyone sees them. They have to dry somehow. Everyone knows I wear knickers anyway so I’m not bothered. Same reason I don’t care about vpl

SociableAtWork · 11/05/2025 18:00

It’s the only way I get some shade in this weather 😁

Thecatsatonthemats · 11/05/2025 18:46

I’ve always hung mine on the line. On the rotary line, but I tend to hang them on the inside and other clothes on the outside. I don’t care who sees them really.

Ginmonkeyagain · 11/05/2025 19:14

I am no better than I ought to be so my pants and bras are hung out on the clothes horse on our balcony. I also often neglect to close the bedroom blind when getting dressed. I also don't give a fuck about covering up when I get changed on the beach.

I grew up in a naked family though so very not English when it comes to matters of pants and nudity.

littlemisssunshine247 · 11/05/2025 20:12

I’m a bit of a prude. I peg mine on the inside of my rotary line so bigger items conceal them.

EBearhug · 11/05/2025 20:18

I peg mine on the inside of the rotary line, because the sheets don't fit there. If I haven't got sheets, there's less of a logistical challenge to fit everything on.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 11/05/2025 23:12

I don’t have a garden, so I peg them on my airer and put out in the communal courtyard.
Bras too. I care not

SchrodingersTwat2 · 11/05/2025 23:16

Mine have been outside this afternoon. If it's raining, they're on display on the radiators inside.

Boutonnière · 11/05/2025 23:22

It has never occurred to me to worry about neighbours seeing my undies on the line nor do I notice theirs. As for hiding things strategically on rotary driers ……… Just thrilled to get a couple of warm and breezy days to get everything dried.

NDN is sending signals to someone - are there any peachy pants a fluttering ?

WonderingWanda · 02/08/2025 18:52

I hang them on my soctopus which hangs on the line.

MaryGreenhill · 02/08/2025 21:34

Of course 🤣

TaborlinTheGreat · 02/08/2025 22:08

Yes of course, why wouldn't I?
