Hey, with the benefit of hindsight what would you tell or advise your 20 year old self?

Nothing. I wouldn’t have listened.

tillyandmilly · 07/05/2025 20:56

Go to university- get a good job - start saving into a pension - I didn’t and regret it!!

Fiver555 · 07/05/2025 21:05

After 3 years of supporting yourself, re-apply to the uni your dad refused to fill out the grant forms for, as you will qualify for the grant yourself at that point, and then go to uni. Never mind that you will be three years older than everyone else. Just do it.

Don't go and see that therapist- it'll fuck up your life

Have fun but try and save some money
Speak to your sibling because they will be gone in a years time
Enjoy the 90’s, it only gets worse from here 🤣

oh that is sad 😔

HundredPercentUnsure · 07/05/2025 21:09

Drink less, travel more, eat your lunch.

And go for a graduate job, don't wait for a career to find you.

Trinity69 · 07/05/2025 21:13

Stop spending so much on CD’s and DVD’s. They’ll be obsolete before you know it.

Bubbles1001 · 07/05/2025 21:13

You know that really cute skater guy you met when you were 17? Spoiler alert - you get married and have kids, like 20 years later!!! Mind. Blown! 🤯😍

BobbyBiscuits · 07/05/2025 21:14

You're actually really pretty.
You don't need to date men you don't fancy just because they like you.

SingleAHF · 07/05/2025 21:15

Never get financially involved with a man based on being in a romantic relationship with him

pilates · 07/05/2025 21:15

Travel the world

AfraidToRun · 07/05/2025 21:16

Hes not misunderstood, he's just a giant dickhead.

Beamur · 07/05/2025 21:22

Work a bit harder on your degree.
Have a bit more faith in yourself and ambitions. You're much more attractive than you give yourself credit for.
Your 30's will be an absolute blast.

LilDeVille · 07/05/2025 21:22

Keep trusting your gut and it’s all gonna be so, SO great ❤️ trust yourself.

Fedupcreative86 · 07/05/2025 21:55

@beguilingeyes oh no what happened? Did they hit it off and get together?

stilll · 07/05/2025 21:59

You’re worth just as much as everyone else.

LovelySG · 07/05/2025 22:01

Value yourself.

Craftycorvid · 07/05/2025 22:16

That guy you’re seeing? I know you don’t believe that anyone else would want to be with you, and you believe it’s a fluke that this guy actually tolerates your presence, but you deserve so much better! Don’t spend ten years with him. Run.

This is really interesting, I went to uni (don’t regret that bit) but then I got a good job and made all the boring choices like career progression and pension payments and I do sort of often wonder whether life might have been more fun had I taken a few risks and not always made the sensible choices.

I had a similar experience, and managed to go to university and (eventually, after 18 months of fighting) get my grant in my own right with no input from my parents.

Crabs in a fucking bucket, the lot of 'em 🙄

NautilusLionfish · 07/05/2025 22:25

Go on, enjoy yourself. Date him, kiss him, have sex with him, openly love him. Who cared what others think. Don't worry too much. You will either have an epic love story or your first proper heartbreak and him out of your system. But in the end, all will be well.

Snugglemonkey · 07/05/2025 22:26

You know ow the right thing to do. Drown out the noise and listen to yourself.
